Re-using the video image from Chaper 2: Video image is the skull of "Shanidar I," a male neanderthal whose skeleton was found in a cave in Iraq. Shanidar I's physical description matches Creb's almost exactly, with his skull and skeleton displaying the same deformities and traumas Auel describes Creb as having (the real Shanidar I was likely deaf though, based on studies of the skull's ear canals). The discovery of this skeleton with its deformities and injuries, and thefact that Shanidar I was probably in his 40s when he died, suggests that at least some Neanderthals made efforts to care for and help fellow Neanderthals with physical disabilities. I love your audiobook about this book series for the clan of the cave bear. Please finish uploading more videos for the clan of the cave bear and i hope you will do the other books Please
This man has listened to every chapter of every book that David has read so well. This unworthy male begs David to finish reading this great book. Joking aside, thank you David. 🙂
I have loved listening to your recording of Clan of the Cave Bear! Hope to see it finished! But I'm reading along with a physical copy, so I'll finish either way. Hearing your cat chime in is sooooo delightful 🥰
Sorry for the delay, everyone! I've been very busy these last couple weeks and have a friend visiting from out of town this weekend. Should be able to get bakc in the swing of things next week, and I'll try not to have so many long gaps like this!
Waiting (not so) patiently. Your words are great my friend! Hope all is well and I hope you can do this for a living one day. You’re awesome at it and I’d pay for your audiobooks. 🤜🤛
What makes listening to someone read a story better than reading it yourself? I've read four books out of the series, and it's a much better listen than read. Samething with the ASoIaF books
I paused to look for my cat lol Also got tears in my eyes at crebs speech. Even though I’ve read these so many times! Hopefully you are well and can finish soon.
The occasional meow has me giggling! I've been enjoying this so much, this series, especially the first 3 books, are some of my all time faves, along with Dragons of Pern. I've binged on this playlist, and abruptly, it's done 😱. I look forward, very much to the next chapter! Thank you so much for these!
Thanks a lot m8. Reading was delight to listen. You did a great job, for which i can't express enough gratitude Can't wait for last chapter 22 of this book ❤
Oh Snap , I thought 21 would be the end of the book. Now I have to play the waiting game.... Anyway , thanks for all the work you have done here. Meow... I have been putting it... meow... On before I go to bed and it puts me quickly to sleep.
Thank you SO MUCH for recording 21 Chapters of this book. I really enjoyed your reading of one of my favorite books. If you ever get the time to finish the rest of the book , I will eagerly listen to them (binge listen). 👍🏾😊
Had to go ahead and finish the book when you went on hiatus. Thank you for introducing me to this really cool story. Waiting in anticipation for your next project (crossing my fingers for The Hobbit, as you suggested).
Well I’ve enjoyed this soooo much ! I read all the books years ago, it was so nice to listen to you narrate this one. I now have to go searching for my books so I can finish the story. It’s much harder for me to read now, I’ve got dry eye and need glasses.
My daughter and I spent 30 minutes in a frantic panic, searching for our cat before we realized it was YOUR CAT on the recording 😹 😅 Your cat sounded concerned because of the tones of voices you were using 😂 Our cat was like, "What?"😮😮😮
I had to finish the book listening to a different narrator and no offense to them but they didn't even come close to how amazing your version is T_T. I would love to listen to the whole series by you
Hey im not trying to be a dick but i needs the rest of the book sir. And may i suggest doing the Dune books? Also, if you need help with the channel i wouldnt mind joining your channel. I dig what your doing with making audiobook for UA-cam. So if i can help the channel out i will.
Wow David. After reading your naration, I found myself looking for a website that offers snippets of professional narrators to sample for future enjoyments. I decided to look-up your name first, sure that you were professional even though a cat participates! The well-timed Meows even added to the experience in some homely way. I'm both pleased and dismaid that you intend to keep recording. Do I wait? Or risk the perilous disappointment of hunting a potentially unworthy oral-guide to complete the journey? I'm genuinely torn. Thank-you.
Durc maybe deformed but he’s strong His mother only disobey only to protect him You don’t just need a name to be apart of something but it is to make us stronger and something to be called and remembered forever we can’t be called baby forever you know
I appreciate your reading but leaving off at chapter 21 & saying you'd be starting back up with the rest in a week or so & it's been a year! I hope you're okay. I can't read any more & was relying on audio books & now I'm in limbo for the last chapters.

So if the men can take any of the women they want at any time, how do they know who the father of any baby is? Ayla's inner monologue suggests that the clan doesn't understand sexual reproduction.
This is one of the creative imaginings that Auel used in her novels, since we can't know anything about the inner thoughts of Neolithic peoples. I don't think the word "father" is used much, if at all, in the whole series. There are simply mothers and "men of the hearth." Both the Clan and the Others believe spiritual forces are responsible for giving children to mothers, therefore children only have mothers and siblings, and no man "claims" them except in the sense of a mother's mate being the foremost adult responsible for their well-being. The idea of children being owned property of their parents, by some weird right deriving from fertilization, is alien to the peoples in her books.
