Hey! Probably not but I don't see the reason why you wouldn't add it in. What I means is - If I was hiring someone I'd definitely want to see what they look like, too ;)
How often does exactly, for example hotels, respond to emails? Is their really lack of personnel in tourist industry during summer? Or is there actually abundance due to people from other countries looking for a job especially in tourism during summer season?
Good question - they're getting so many emails that often they don't even answer. A lot people from abroad want to come here just for a ,,summer part time job''. It's really all about the luck and timing. It could be even worth to be sending out those emails very soon - right after the summer season ends and applying for the upcoming year just to get ahead of competition
@@janiniceland I heard quite the opposite, that hotels want people who are available right in the moment they are in need of personnel, so i doubt you can "secure" your position by contacting them year ahead.
@@mr.t1m046 Yeah well it depends - a lot of the guesthouses for example operate only in the summer and many of the people also come just for the summer. And it's not like all of them keep coming back every year. That means that those places already know which positions they will most likely need to hire for for next season . But then you have the example that you mentioned - there's a high turn over rate on many positions in the tourism industry and so often they need somebody ,,right in the moment''. But in those cases they'll most likely prioritise those who are already in Iceland, are registered in the country and so on. But I've also witnessed how difficult it can be to find and hire someone specialised fitting into certain position in the company. And so I guess it really depends on the company, position and so on.
Hi Jan! I have a question. When I go to fill the form, it asks for emplyer's name and their signature, but I do not have an emplyer yet since I am looking for a job. Can I get a kennitala anyways? I am an italian citizen
Hey! I did a little digging and it seems like they changed the process a little bit. It now seems like you must have an employer and a temporary address first to be able to apply for kt. Here's what I found : ,,As of 2020, individuals can no longer apply for a kennitala directly with Þjóðskrá (the national register). If you have a job in Iceland, ask your employer to apply for one through Skatturinn (local tax authorities).'' I would still try to send an email to Þjóðskrá, explain your situation and wait for their response. - GL buddy and my apologies that the info in the video is outdated.
Hey! I have no personal experience with that, but I would say so. However it might be a little bit more difficult to find. Not sure how it works in those fields honestly

Well, they say that, that's true, but I don't think it should stop people from reaching out to any advertised job offers. Every reach out moves people closer to finding the job. They may not be interested in hiring, but they might send you to someone else, you just never know...
Thanks for the information Jan.....see u soon☺️...ived got lot of information

May God Almighty bless you in abundance for trying to help others voluntarily.
