Great reminders! I'll admit I've been guilty before of forgetting about bags I own because they're tucked away and I don't see them. Which also leads to too many bags that serve the same purpose!
It’s amazing the difference it made when I got mine out, same goes for shoes!
Years ago I would never have bought fake however recently I have done and when you realise and compare both "hight quality luxury" and "fake" like I have done, you tend to feel scammed as the product and materials are exact the same*preluxs* .
I love your sentiment that when we sell our car or other items we take a loss, the same for handbags as well. This year I have reorganised my bag collection, sold some. And now that I can see all my bags that means I can plan ahead and use my bags...and clothes. It does make me feel so much more confident and better able to face the world.
How fabulous is it when you wear a bag you’ve neglected for a while, it’s like it’s brand new again!
I used to keep my bags all in dust bags on the shelf in my closet and hardly used them. I would forget what I had! The last straw was re-purchasing a bag I already owned!! 😮 I’m an empty nester so I made the move to create a glam room where all of my lovelies can now been seen, loved, & used! This absolutely maximized my value for me😊❤. Great video!

I have the Coach tabby 18 and wow that bag didn't transfer a bit of color, I even wore it in the rain with my dark denim jacket, keep in mind it was absolutely pouring and I put it on underneath my jacket Got wet, that was over 8 months ago, it's very sturdy and over a year it's still looking great, also the same light yellow color so you can easily match it with anything, even a jacket, when you wear It really pops when worn with dark clothes *condup*

I can totally relate . Specially on the point of not putting the bags in their dustbags. When I have a bad day, I go and re-order my bags on the shelves, I play with my slgs and it relaxes me. When I go out having my bags out make me choose the perfect one. It's my tiny happy place at home.
We all need one of those, whether it’s bags or something else - a little happy place is essential for us all
I am sitting here absolutely exhausted after helping hubby change our bedding, even though he does all the heavy work. This shingles certainly takes it out of me on top of everything else. So now time to watch more videos. I loved this video and always love seeing your smiling, beautiful face lovely Dayle. My favourite part is when you said about your 'smile' bags. That made me smile. I’m finally in a place where I’m happy with my collection. It look a lot of trial and error but the bags I own now just work for me. I no longer lust after handbags but am putting my energy into getting back to my pre baby weight. I just have 10 lbs to go!

Thanks Dayle - love your tips however … while I agree with the point about buying things that bring joy I think there is a point of caution to note as well. I have repeatedly made the mistake of buying bags that make me smile and it’s just not enough. That doesn’t itself make me use them because if I am truly honest I just don’t have the lifestyle for my poshest bags. My lizard bulgari has never been worn nor has my new favourite (perfect for me) peekaboo. I only use the fendi fox fur to pat occasionally. It’s like a pet. Insane! So what I want and love and what I will actually use are totally different. Most times I don’t even use a bag I just shove stuff in my jacket or jean pockets😂
This is not ok, we gotta challenge this paradigm!

I’ve got all my accessories in my digital wardrobe manager, so I’ve got full visibility…but I store my bags inside their dustbags in my wardrobe so they don’t need to be dusted. 😊

2) How much do you wear 'em? Not yet but hopefully someday.
3) How much do they match your current life circumstances? Oh boy... I need some strong liquor before I can answer that without lying to myself... My overall verdict: I suck at this. 🤣 Almost all the bags I have are "smile" bags. It's not that they don't fit my life, it's just that my life doesn't fit THEM. 😂😂😂😂 Hoping for better times, keep calm and collect...ing. Cheers, Gorgeous! 😘

Rainy day here in Kentucky, USA, so I’m off to pull all my bags out!! Perfect timing, because yesterday, a furniture piece that I ordered 4 months ago to display my bags was finally delivered ❤❤ I’m also currently selling 2 bags with a consignor. Patiently waiting for their sale, because I’m lusting over a bag or two 😂

An additional tip is to double-bag. I have for example used some of my evenings bag with a raffia basket in daytime. The basket adds room and makes it more casual and I get to wear my gorgeous evening bags more. If I don’t want to carry both for a while I chuck the evening bag into the basket.

Loved this video Dayle. For now my bags live in a dark room in my house and in temperature controlled environments. All of them are in their dustbags as I don’t have space to put them out on display yet. Oh well hopefully one day I’ll get shelves made to display them. Until then they stay safely tucked away. I think I'm going to same way like you Dayle, I want to enjoy my bags and I don't want to be the collector. My habits are changing with my bags and I have realized that I don't have to own every my bag rest of my life. (Sorry if my English is not exactly correct, but I have decide also to use English even it's not always exactly right, but I think it's understandable).

Such a great video, thanks Dayle! I recently realised regardless of how much I love Louis Vuitton my LV SLGs make me smile not my LV bags. Both my Keepall and Porte Documents have been in their dust bags out of sight so I’m now selling both so I can use that money to buy maybe another Xmas animation mini pochette or seasonal pocket organiser which I’ll get use and enjoyment out of 😊
I think that’s a great insight, we all love different things and SLGs are so fun!
I have two huge closets with sliding mirror doors with metal units. Shelves and rod for hangers. Most bags are on the shelves. I leave doors open just enough to see my bags walking by. 🎉 Lucky to Hage the spaces. And extra closets for my husband 🤭

I have handbag drawers where I lock them up..I used to keep them on display in my closet (I actually have built in display shelving) but it’s too much work to transfer them back and forth from my lockable drawers when my cleaning lady comes every week. I started doing this after my friend’s bag was stolen by her cleaning lady who denied it. I don’t want to tempt anyone!
Oh goodness that’s a bit scary, you can only imagine the opportunity that exists - trust is hard to find.
I keep my slgs in a drawer in the dining room so I can look at them all the time and change them frequently😂

Great hacks and advice for getting the most use out of one’s handbags, Dayle. I will have to do better with mine especially in using them more. I generally hate changing out of handbag and will wear one for weeks if not months. When I switch out, I have to relearn where everything is inside. Of course I could just cut down on what I carry inside them (I’m an everything but the kitchen sink kind of girl, lol) which would probably solve that problem. I do like the idea of buying a bag simply because it makes me smile. There was one that I let myself get talked out of and I really wish I hadn’t. Thanks for sharing!

Really loved this video, thank you Dale. Fellow Brissy gal and luxury bag lover and I have just sold a few that I was not reaching for. Made a huge profit on one that offset the loses on the others and then I added more......god forbid. It never stops, there is always the next bag to chase and you do change and evolve. Great video on current topic. I have bought some beautiful pieces and am now really shopping my closet rather than focusing on the next handbag. I have also purchased a range of twilly’s for my top handle bags. I would love if you could do a video on Capucines -one of my favourite bags but unfortunately least used! I am glad larger handbags are trending again as mine is in PM size.

Love this content Dayle!. I have only small number of lux bags. I didn’t start until about 4 yrs ago. I wonder how I should sell my Louis Vuitton Mahina leather Hobo. I bought it a few years ago, but then became physically unable to actually wear it. I took it out only twice.. so, that’s another reason why it is sometimes necessary to move on when we just can’t comfortably carry .how do you go about pricing ??

I’d start by googling the bag and checking prices on FASHIONPHILE and Vestiaire Collective and maybe list on Vestiaire or a Facebook group or try a consignor - large bags are back!

I’m told that means better quality . I sure hope so! I also dipped a toe into Hermes. I bought a Calvi Duo. I can’t actually carry an Hermes bag but I can still enjoy the other things that I love. ☺

I’m going to buy a new bag for my 60th this year and I live in a van, so the space is limited. I have a bag draw though haha, I already own 8 bags, my biggest is a petite Noe(that doesn’t live in the bag draw), I have room left in my bag draw for two small ones or one bigger one.
Im torn to either get a bag that suits my life style and very practical or something that is heart stopping and more occasional wear. What is your advice for me Dayle 🫣🤣🥰
