The filters allow you to listen to what's going on in those frequency ranges. So you can compare your lows, low mids, mids, sub to your reference track.

I don't get why you can't just run two tracks and flick the solo button between each for comparing...and have your EQ up on master channel for checking
@@Tyler-ko8dpBecause this software also allows you see various meters such as correlation. For someone who is mixing in a home studio and doesn’t have access to a world class monitoring environment it’s essential.

When Mastering with references I like to use filters to work on part like low-end and compare. Maybe you get to a place with time and experience and you already know but it can be useful

hi, Streaky! Great content again. Thank you! I wanted to ask you about this very problem - I wanted to do some basic mastering with Ozone 8 on a track of mine but because is kinda old track and it's not mixed properly one instance of the Maximiser wasn't enough to make it as loud as the reference. So I put 3 instances with higher treshholds :D With slow atck and rls time it wasn't distorting on my speakers, it wasn't distorting as well in the car, neither on the boom box. But it is distorting as f*#$ on every set of headphones and earbuds which I have exept of the studio ones. I am completely confused....
Cantheloop difficult to say without hearing it...might be something in the low end that is messing with the headphones but I’d need to hear it
@@Streaky_com yes, it's definitely smth in the bottom. But listen what I did - I've removed the extra Maximisers (leaving only one onto the channel) and I sent the track to a send channel where I put two other analog type compressors and some HPF before them to avoid triggering them with the sub. Then I put one more Maximiser on the MASTER and voila, still not quite awesome but ten times better. I'm impressed. I made this move mostly for fun. Why I made it like this I'm not even sure. What exactly has happened I also can't say. But it's better. crazy, huh...

You should really try MeterPlugs Perception as well. It's absolutely the best (IMO) for A/B comparisons. I have Metric A/B as well and use it for reference tracks and comparing dynamics. I use the two of them together, but for the source material comparison Perception is amazing.
SeventeenSeconds can you elaborate? I have Magic AB & more recently Metric AB (as well as iZotope Advanced) but between the first two it's not as clear as day as you suggest. Definitely interested to hear more. Thanks in advance! 😁

Streaky Mastering A few people now mentioning this plug-in. Have you had any experience with it five months later?
Not really a tutorial though, is it. Just a very brief rundown of some of the most basic functions
I like the Metric A/B system but it only tells me how inadequate my mix is, not how to fix my shortcomings or bridge the gap to the superior mix.
This is the best comment !!! Nobody, on youtube, shows how it works during a mix session. This plugin only shows how is different your mix in front of the other ones. So, do you want really spend 199 dollars for this?
