    You captured what Luxman can do. When I first bought my Sopra No 3's I heard them with all Luxman gear. At the time I didnt like the styling, to me it looked "old" but I loved the sound. I chased that original sound I heard and I owned used Burmester gear , Belcanto, McIntosh, but I never got all what Luxman can do: smoothness, detail, but no harshness, speed, and their ability to bring that soundstage out and in reality what they can do with vocals is truly something. I got over my styling issue and it grew on me. I actually prefer it over Accuphase. Over the last 2 yrs I bought a Luxman 509x, D-10X , and then an Aurender N20 and I couldn't be happier. I may upgrade to the 509z that's coming out, but my understanding is that its a tad less forward and warmer. Either way I love Luxman and the synergy between their products is impeccable.

      @@NeverCryWolf64 I had the same ones (REF 600M). Best class D amp in my opinion. Very close to their amp in the Black EX line. I demoed that system 1st along with Jeff Rowlands Model 125. The 125 to me was more neutral or flat. Loved the 600Ms

      I love my luxman 509x. I have harbeth shl5 + speakers and used to have the Hugo Tt2 M scaler combo. I sold my Chord gear after hearing my friends Ladder Schumann Dac in my system. Unfortunately I'm on my 2nd Schumann and this one seems to also be faulty when playing varying bit rate tracks from tidal. I love the r2r tonality and am interested in finding another reputable r2r Dac. I'm thinking holo spring 3 level 1 although most reviews are for the level 3 kte edition. My streamer is pd creative modded node 2i with lpsu. I'd love to hear peoples suggestions.

      @@sonicplayroompiano4302 The 509x with the D-10X are amazing together. The D-10X'S DAC can be used with an external source through it's USB, Coax, or Optical inputs. For me it's excellent because I still listen to CDs, but to match the quality of the D-10X'S CD playback for streaming, i had to get the Aurender N20.

    You are the only one I’ve encountered who used a pair of McIntosh MC275 vacuum tube amplifiers wired as mono blocks. I did the same in 1993 with a pair of MC275 Gordon Gow Commemorative Edition amps. Driving the power-hungry Martin-Logan Quests, a large hybrid electrostatic system, I went one step further and employed my residing Krell KSA-150 class A amp and bi-amped the system with the Krell dedicated to the woofers. Lordy, talk about scale, clarity, depth, 150 watts of sweet tubes thru each ‘stat, and Krell bass slam thru a pair of 12” woofs in sealed enclosures. It was 18 years before I replaced the 8 KT88’s, and the old output tubes still tested good (actually, the Mac circuit wears out the driver tubes before the output tubes, but that’s another story). Life moves on, however, and now I run a Luxman L-590AXII 30 WPC Class A integrated amp into a pair of Bowers and Wilkins 805D4’s that fits nicely in my new space. Couldn’t be happier.

    It's funny because I don't need another amp, actually I don't need another anything, yet woman buy shoes and handbags like there's no tomorrow. So I do like Luxman but they're not Accuphase it's a step up a small step but it's a step so I'm looking for a Accuphase integrated second hand. I have Kondo valve amps that cost the price of a small house as do the Alsyvox, stupidly expensive, panel speakers, I just love that retro 70's look that Luxman and Accuphase do. Other's do it to but I think both of these companies do it better than anyone!!

    Gabster, if you find a C900U used. Get it. You will be astonished once its connected to your M900U. Let me know what you think, my bet is you willl love it ALOT more than your C1000. Let that magic happen.

    • @pumjirapat
      @pumjirapat Рік тому +3

      Agreed. I own several saperate amplifiers from many manufacturers, both tube and solid-state. Most of the time, I find that one particular power amplifier work best when connected with its specific pre-amplifier counterpart. Out of all preamplifiers that I've tried, M900U work best with C900u.
      Whenever I tried connecting M900u or C900u with other amplifiers from other brand, even with one that match electronically (output and input impedance ratio being greater than 10), I've always felt that something is missing. For instance, with Burmester 077 and 808, it became more dynamic and impactful, with lots of mid-bass slam, but it lost all the lushness and air. The magic came back with I pair the m900u with their own c900u. Speaking of M900u/C900u, it's very delicate, neutral, clean, highly detailed, lush, smooth with deep and wide-sounstage. The music float in the air while being a tad laid back, but can be very dynamic when called for. Till date, this combo held special place in my heart that even thou I switch component in my system for fun quite regularly, I've always been impressed whenever M900u and C900u play.

    I’m wondering how is that after 10 years, m10x looks just like m900 , even the internals look very similar 🤨, not that it’s a bad thing but was expecting some change.

    Hi great review. I recently purchased m 900u too! I am also a happy owner of the ps audio dsd dac mk1 which I’m using as preamp into luxman. Everything runs well when using RCA however when using xlr one channel plays louder than the other and the image is not in the centre but shifts to one side. Do you know why that happens? I read that Japanese xlr have different polarity to US. Could that be the issue? Thanks p!

    this amp built to pander to North American habiz, of judging components by theit weight (ie bigger is better)- imo Luxman
    ube gear more worthy. -still elegant but better overall.

      Interesting review on luxman amp. I have never thought tube amplifiers were something I would want because of there reliability and power inefficiency. I suppose power efficiency is a small price in the cost of audio. I don’t think I will ever afford audiophile quality equipment but I like leaning about diy quality equipment you are assembling!!! We have a cd of Eva Cassidy (Fields of gold) and like the detail in her voice and the clarity on the instruments. Sorry not an audiophile, so I may not be describing the sound quality properly. Thanks for recommending the music.
