The expired medication can be donated to Doctors without borders. They accept items like that and are able to determine if they are still safe and then use them in underprivileged countries.

That It’s a great idea. But I think that the medication start to degrade a month or two after the expiration date. They can still be used, but they may not be as effective as they were before the expiration date. Of course it matters between if it’s a Best Buy date or sell by date. Supposedly you can usually use the product two to three months after the expiration date. The longer it is pat the experation date the less effective it will be.

Other than liquid medications, most tablets last up to 50 years.
@@pameladudrow247 if anything the majority of medications, both RX and OTC, grow weaker, not stronger. Most analgesics grow weaker but not until well beyond their expiration dates. The danger with antibiotics that expire is they grow weaker and whatever bacteria you're taking them to kill may not die and may actually become resistant to that antibiotic or even that family of antibiotics (it's not legal to re-sell RX meds anyway so that's not a concern in a liquidation sale just wanted to share that info). Most over the counter pain relievers & supplements have a much longer shelf life than their expiration date indicates but may become less effective when well beyond that date. The liquid gels with fish oil or vitamins E and D can go rancid especially if no preservative is used in them. They, of course, can't be sold when beyond their expiration, but they can be used. As soon as I saw it was health & beauty from Costco I figured any OTC meds would be expired as they're really good about pulling expired product from their shelves. Am actually really surprised they included them in a liquidation lot as I don't think they should be allowed to sell anything, even to a liquidator, that can no longer legally be sold. They should have to destroy them and write off their loss.
I was visiting a family member in the New Mexico desert, 40 miles from any kind of store, and had to use shampoo from over 10 years ago. Worked just fine! LOL!
You can still use expired stuff. For every year past the expired date it will lose effectiveness. Any medications past five years toss. I have used expired toothpaste and soaps with no problems

The expired vitamins, etc are still good. It may eventually lose effectiveness, but it won’t hurt you. You still have to use your common sense. I’d watch eye drops that are terribly expired, especially where the seal’s been broken. You don’t want to run the risk of introducing bacteria into your eyes.
As a retired nurse who worked in surgical centers, we routinely sent expired meds and IV fluids with our doctors who served (volunteered) in third world countries. You must remember that companies will date items early to avoid occasional customer lawsuits. Again, you must use your common sense and research these items. If you’re naturally paranoid about such things, remember most of your fears are unfounded.🙂

I found a half-used box of instant cappuccino sachets in the back of the cupboard about a month ago. The expiry date on them was 2012 - 7 years ago - and they all tasted perfectly good!
I am still here. I survived 7 year expired coffee so a month-out-of-date shampoo should be just dandy!

In the early 2000’s my brother, a firefighter was training in a WWII bunker. He ate Nabisco Saltines that expired in 1930. He said other than tasting stale they were fine. He didn’t get sick.
In the UK "Sell by " dates are just for stock rotation for the store. "Best before" dates are the date when the item will not be optimum quality, but IT can still be used or consumed depending on what it is. "Use by" dates mean that you shouldn't,t use/ consume the item after that date.
You shouldn't worry about all those things(the vitamins and supplements, and other health products) being expired. Military facilities rarely get rid of products because of expiration dates. In many cases, manufacturers use expiration dates based on storage conditions that are less than optimum, not how long the product is good in a stable environment. A lot of foods are still good way past expiration date. Also, expiration dates force retailers to restock more often.
Expiration dates are not for use, they are for selling. Some discount stores only sell expired food - they have signs in the store that state this.
thats the most stupid thing i ever heard expiration dates are the date a product expires and goes bad and should not be used and certainly should not be sold people please report any selling of expired products to your locar trading standards. the dates are there to protect the consumer from harm especially some cosmetics contain ingredients that can be very harmful. its disgraceful the amount of people getting away with selling food and products that are out of date. i urge everyone to report report report!! any store or anywhere selling these.

There is no one system of dating - it depends on the food/item. The date most commonly seen IS the sell date. It is used to keep an updated inventory by the store. It is assumed (and this may be a mistake in your case) that the consumer is able to tell on their own whether food has gone bad. Most of us can tell what to eat without someone telling us by dating an item. It appears you are one of those anal people who throws away perfectly good items because of a date that is put on a product. The date is put on an item by the seller (distributer) and not some government agency. Look up the 'regulations' before you open your mouth and show how stupid you are.

Monica Baca true, I just found out that my dog has dry eye. I went to get the drops and gel and one bottle of gel was 19.00 and the drops were like 7.00. I already went through a bottle in 5 days. My poor baby is so sick of me bothering her but it has to be done.
i personally would have no problem using any of the expired items..if it was a year or more then yeah but a few months not really.
I would use the expired stuff as long as it's not 65 years old like me.

A lesson from my old physics class: an elevator is rated such that the rated weight is half of what it is capable of carrying. This is a protective measure for the libability of the manufacturing company. This is also true of expiration dates you see on the things in your box. As another stated it is when the potency may begin to become less as time passes. Be just research expiration dates and the products to put your mind at ease. It is usual that things past their expiration date are marked down which you already do.
I would be fine with the expired items. I shop at a salvage store weekly and quite a lot of it is expired items
I love your intro. Our Food Bank, a charity, takes past-dated items that are within 1 year of the date.

i have volunteered many times at a food bank here in town. But they get all kinds of stuff. Expirations dates are there to cover their booties and give the retail stores a date to take stuff down.....medications like this are fine after expiration date. You may not be able to sell them online but definitely in hubby's store. I buy stuff from a liquidator here in town all the time. I believe you can find a chart online that will tell you what you can use after expiration date and for how long it's safe.

I am nurse and you can use the vitamins for up to year expired. Several doctors take expired meds and give to charity to help people. FDA requires you to put a expirations on it
I’m surprised they were able to sell the expired items, without labeling the box as expired items. I wouldn’t mind buying a small box like that, if I was told ahead of time. Using expired items is a norm for me, you can tell when an item is off. Thanks for the video. 🤗

Carmel Noyce they put expiration dates on things so you keep buying them, if you know that it’s expired by the date people buy more, I always thought if it wasn’t opened it doesn’t matter about the date really I know things go off even when they put the expiry date on things but honestly most things do not expire especially if you open something up for the first time a year after you got it like a tin of baked beans if stored correctly👀👀

Most expired things you can perfectly still use. Experationdates are just a sellerspoint so that products will be througn away and bought again. Or to avoid claims. Ofcours food is a different thing, unless it is candy, sugar and salt.

from what I have learned the expiration dates are just suggested or when they are the most potent. It could also just be for the store. I used expired eardrops for an ear infection by the time I got my ear looked at the person who checked to see if it was infected or not couldn't tell if it was infected.
Shampoos are actually like 3-4 years unopened. The date is probably a best if used by date. Even if expired...Google it and you will see alot can be used for alternative reasons around the home! Great video!

I still use the cough drops and vitamins that expired {i checked with my dr first} but she said if it`s not like 3 years bad use it. LOVE THESE Boxes, Hope the next one is a better hit!

I used to buy my 6-12 month expired fertility monitor sticks on ebay...and they still worked perfectly!!! I wouldnt let that stop me from trying to resell some of those items!!

Excluding certain prescription medicines such as nitroglycerin, insulin, and liquid antibiotics, most medicines stored under reasonable conditions retain at least 70% to 80% of their original potency for at least 1 to 2 years after the expiration date, even after the container has been opened.

Most of what is known about drug expiration dates comes from a study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration at the request of the military. With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing its drugs every few years. What they found from the study is 90% of more than 100 drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, were perfectly good to use even 15 years after the expiration date.
I know someone who used to work for the FDA, he told me basically the exact same thing.
If your like me once you buy an item you never look at the expiration date I'm sure we all do it and the cough drops and other meds are fine go ahead ald resell them even for 50 cents much better to do that then the poor families in the area can buy them

Over here in the UK the shampoo etc it’s a best before date... but we can still use after that date. The other mandatory is the sell by... that’s for fresh food like milk etc.

I use a LOT of expired things! A lot of things that are expired you can tell when they are bad! But the expiration dates are merely suggestions, but it’s mostly it’s the deadly for when you can sell it. A lot of it now shows sell by date instead of expired!
I would not try to sell the expired item, but you can still use them. The items are still good for months to years after the expiration date. The only reason they put expiration dates on them is because they are created in labs and the labs are regulated by the FDA which makes them put expiration dates on all items created in those labs, from medication to shampoo (all items from a-z, no exceptions).
I use the Refresh eye & it runs from 20-30 bucks a box. You can also use the laxatives they have a 2 yr shelf life past date & the gummy vitamins also. I was in the medical field so I know. The shampoo lasts at least a year. Same with deodorant. Toothpaste as well. If you keep the toothpaste unopened it will last longer.
As long as they are all sealed they would all be ok! As the expires are only just run out! 👍
Me either! If the date is about 2 or 3 months ago I would say use it and great the good out of it 😉 I'm a disabled Vietnam veteran and I used a lot out of date in the war and didn't worry about the date or the don't use. I'm still here and mean..

You can do research that will tell you which items you can use for a bit after their expiration date. You may not be able to sell them, but they may still be good for personal use. ☺

I wouldn't use the medicine, to be honest if its expired, but everything else... the Ricola drops are just drops that can't really go bad and all the other things like the deodorant and shampoo and stuff... its new and unopened. I buy often for the long run and some items do live a looong time in my cupboard until i use them. I buy them in good times and save them for rather bad times financially. Works great. I love your videos. You are so calming and friendly and not loud at all. And I enjoy that you are not a fifteen year old girl, since I am a grown woman myself. :) Keep going!

I work in retail at a pet store (we never sell expired stuff or anything past the best before date). When stuff does expire we sometimes take it home or donate to local rescues and we find that lots of stuff is good well beyond the expiry date. And if it says best before instead of expires then it is good even longer!! I also grew up in a house that was very lax when it comes to expiries- meds like Advil and Tylenol are usually a year past the expiry. I once found mayo in the fridge that was over a year past expiry! I showed my mom and she just chuckled and said oh well, I made tuna yesterday and it was fine. I still check dates on everything I consume when visiting home 🤣

Expiration doesn’t mean they are bad... consumer goods have to have an expiration date but if they are keeper at a good temperature you shouldn’t have an issue using them
I would still use the expired vitamins etc....all of it actually. Its not YEARS old....and its sealed. The expiry date is just a BEST before date. After the date it slowly starts to lose potency depending on how its stored etc. It's fine.

According to Popular Mechanics and a couple of other websites toothpaste, deodorants ( and their like), Shampoos can be used from 6-18 months after the store pull date (expire date listed on container). Now Jazzrunner.com stated that a year is the maximum for vitamins and similar items.. others say only 3-4 months due to gradual loss of efficacy.

Expiration dates for most things aren't really a big problem. It's the date up until which the manufacturer can guarantee that the product is fully potent and safe. In almost all cases the expiration dates are very conservative and at least 2 to 3 months shorter then the actual guarantee. All your items are within that conservative margin and still perfectly fine. They can still be sold as long as the buyer is aware they are expired.
Love the fact you use a butter knife to open the box maybe that can be your trademark thing like your hubby's knife he uses
When it comes to expiration dates there are three types. Best by or B.B. you can still use the product and sell the product. Sell by, is self explanatory. Use by, also self explanatory. You can definitely use/eat food that is past both these expiration dates. The bigger shugar content on junk food the longer it lasts past the experation date. Same with soups with higher salt content. Unfortunately that is not the case with medication, shampoos and toothpaste.
I am surprised they put those things in a box to sell. They should have been thrown out. Hopefully your second box will be better. You husband seems to have Scored with his pallet. I can’t wait to see the rest of what he got. I was curious about the toys and other things they sold at that place.
As for suggestions, do you have any hobbies? Any passions? Any fandoms? There are tons of box subscriptions for nearly any interest. Doing something you enjoy on a video or making a tutorial might be something you can do, if you want to.
There are lots of tasting boxes out there from all over the world.
If you are into clothing, maybe try one or more clothes subscription box.
Story time, how did you and your husband meet and so on. What is it like pallet flipping? Do you ever worry about not making a profit or loosing money on a pallet? What is it like having your store?
What about the store you and your husband run? Maybe you can do a video tour?
What are your favorite stores? Maybe if you feel comfortable about it, you can take us to your favorite store. Haul videos are some thing I like to watch sometimes.
I can go nuts at the dollar tree and at kholes when I have a 30% off coupon, Is there any store that you have to pull yourself back at or you’ll come home with way too much?

i work in the health field so I"m particular about expiration dates for other people but for myself...i'd use everything in that box if I took medicine..def the toothpaste, deoderant and shampoo i'd use.

Nice video. Expiration date is just a guideline. There would not be a thing wrong with even the vitamins, etc. I could see where you might have a problem for re-sale, though. Keep up the great videos.
Most expiry dates are there to kee0 us buying! Common sense really meat and dairy be cautious toothpaste etc shouldn't be a problem
Oh no, its me again 😆 just had a shower, and while i was in there.. read the beauty products bottles in the bathroom. Not one had a date on them, and thats including Johnson's Baby products. So we can asume there all good!

Not everything with an expiration date really means it’s bad, fda makes them put on on items... I have many things and they are still good!! Love getting a deal or steal!!!
Expiration dates come from their attorneys. What do ya get with 5 attorneys at the bottom of the ocean? A small beginning! You could also hide it in Fido's lunch. If he still has his sea legs by next Tuesday, suck on! Did you know that outside of a dog a man's best friend is a newspaper, but inside of a dog it's too dark to read!

I called a doctor's office about a prescription that had gotten misplaced, and when I found it, it was recently expired. Was told that the medication would be good for about 6 months after that date. At least you or family members could use it. I wouldn't worry about using expired deodorant, toothpaste, cough drops, or shampoo at all.

Alot of products have a expire date only by law stores can not sell past that date but the product is fine just use your best judgement on which item like shampoo and conditioner
Shampoos, conditioners and makeup have expiration dates due to the preservatives effectiveness degrades. You will not want to use makeup past expiration date when it comes to eye makeup and etc.

As long as the product is not opened you are okay within a 6 month time frame,after opened go another 6 months after you open.

Some meds are ok to use after the expiration date. The softer the meds the less affective they become. For instance the tablets B vitamins will be fine to use. The gummies however should most likely go in the trash. Toothpaste and shampoo are ok to use although the medication in the head and shoulders may not be prime. Luv your videos.

I would take expired vitamins. It doesnt mean its expired just means the freshness date. Drs have said you can take meds expired by 10 years and it wont hurt you, just potency could be less.
