2:41 you might be correct about this sin but from the looks of it a couple seconds later Cortex did fall down faster than Robotnik since Robotnik was doing a somewhat spiral fall while Cortex was just calling straight down and it seemed Cortex did start going down faster than Robotnik and that could be the reason Robotnik is ordering him to break his fall because Cortex would have hit the ground first while Robotnik would hit it after him but that's all I can guess since that's what it looked like to me

I'm thinking the tracker works like a metal detector and not a radar in that it keeps showing Mario Head because Mr. Krabs is always pointing it in the correct direction. If he turned around then it wouldn't work.
Maybe the mario head tracker has a radar ontop of the tracker that points to mario heads location but because the fact that everytime the radar is shown its a close up so the radar is off screen?
