This whole song is about himself letting himself down by my understanding. The old man at the end had the “REAL” tattoo on his arm and the woman calls out his name, Nathan. Always deep, relatable, and thought provoking! NF REAL music!
You could do some Tom MacDonald reactions. Just like NF fans flock together for his reactors videos, Toms Fans will definitely flock together. He’s an Independent artist who’s been rising really fast this year & he’s got ranges from Rap, Satire, Grunge, Rock styles. He’s been known to be very open minded & vocal about his views.
Yep you've probably heard this song before - in 'WHY', NF mentions that this song went triple-platinum, and was playing a LOT on the radio and used in TV commercials and such. Also, yes that is him singing - his voice is just changed to give it that sort of "little boy" sound. It's a common feature in his tracks, since he's usually talking to himself ('Nate' is a prime example). He's actually a really good singer though (see 'You're Special', 'Wait', 'If You Want Love', or 'Time' for examples) and so usually, unless there's a feature mentioned in the title, it's really him singing.
@@skrt-skrtfortnite8045 That was another song from NF How could you leave us from earlier album! I don't think both songs are related. But I guess on NF knows!
"Packed all my clothes and I moved out" - Since you reacted to Mansion, you probably know that Mansion was a reference to his mind. "I don't even wanna go to your house" - Again, since you have reacted to Mansion, you should get the reference to the "house". But he says "your house" because he's talking to his younger self. "Everytime I sit on that couch I feel like you lecture me" - His second album was called Therapy Session. I presume the "couch" is a reference to therapy. And because he's talking to himself, and his music is his therapy (which you'd get in his Therapy Session song), he lectures himself. "Eventually, I bet that we could have made this work; And probably woulda figured things out" - I believe he's saying that he's moved on from his older self. "But I guess I'm a letdown" - In his song Nate on The Search album, he says "Sometimes I feel like I've become what you were scared to be". So he let himself down. "But it's cool, I checked out" - I assume he saying he's done with therapy. "Oh, you wanna be friends now? ; Okay, let's put my fake face on and pretend now" - That "smudge" you mentioned on his face, is his fake smile (referenced in Therapy Session). While he may be "done" with therapy, that doesn't mean his past doesn't still haunt him. "Sit around and talk about the good times ; That didn't even happen" - He sees no good times in his past, but that's what people want him to talk about. In the first first, he may have hinted that he's talking to Paranoia - "Paranoia, what did I do wrong this time?" He often brings up emotions by name. He's brought up Anger in (at least) Mansion and Remember this. He's brought up Fear in (at least) Mansion, Intro 3, and Remember This. In Remember this, he also brought up Happiness, Joy and Regret. He's talked about Doubt in (at least) Leave Me Alone. And as you could tell, the old man was older Nathan. And considering younger Nathan was in the coffin, I think that lends credence to him saying he's moved on from his older self. I know his journey is a lot of videos, but as you said in your Intro reaction, he tells a story. By not following the journey, it's like watching Black Panther and then watching Captain America: Civil War
It's about his father and what he did to him with the abuse of his step father. In the first set of bars he says that's what parents do. Also in a behind the scenes NF states that's what it's about.
The older man is his older self. He is watching himself drown in his burdens. He is fighting himself, and it doesnt seem to be getting him anywhere emotionally. He lets himself down so much. All his lyrics are his emotions personified.
In my mind this song represents all the moments his dad could have been there for those most horrific fears come alive kind of thing until his dad regrets that he could have until the end then regrets it in the end
You Can assume the person as both ( his father / NF himself) . at the last moment of the video a lady calls him out by saying ' Nathan ' which is NF's first name. He also got the ' real music ' tattoo on his hand at that point. In this way, the message of the video is that sometimes we know that we are in trouble but most of the time, we don't do anything about it to solve the issue, rather we see ourselves go through the pain In the first verse, he also talks about his parents, so he basically gave two scenarios for us to think about.
Some people make their love so expensive no one can afford it, or so cheap it has no value. Love is a gift and some people you can’t even earn it. He is talking about this type of person in his past.
'Nathan' says in NO NAME ... 'I used to judge everybody till I learned it was wrong'... and in Mansion he talks about 'cleaning the walls off in time' before his regrets 'will probably still be there when he dies'... then in INTRO2 Nate says 'the only person he judges is the one in the mirror' and in REMEMBER THIS the hook says 'say goodbye to the old me... we aint friends any more you don't know me'... then last... NF in OUTCAST says emphatically 'you lookin' for the old me... check the morgue...' NEAHHH!!!!! lol ;)
NF is my number one!! But for something different, someone shared this video/song yesterday and it BLEW ME AWAY!! The band is Rag'n'Bones ... the song/video is "Human" If you've never heard it, you must ... 1.1 BILLION VIEWS!!!
NF on INTRO II “Music has raised me more than my parents did.” Also. If you haven’t done INTRO III you’re likely missing out on the most creative NF song ever. You did mansion so react to Outro AND THEN go to INTRO III. maybe listen to mansion on your own to refresh. It’s important. Mansion is first album. Both OUTRO and INTRO III are from this album which is album three. But it shows how flawlessly NF has connected all of his albums and verses and concepts.
That’s NF’s voice. Unless he has a featuring on his song the chorus voice is always his. He has a decent singing voice. On his audition for Capitol records he did a freestyle. They released it. He actually sang on parts. The sample is his. This song blew up so I promise you’ve heard it but it was his song. It was all over the radio. Most don’t even realize this is his song and that they know who he is.
The top 3 songs by NF I highly recommend (I recommend all of his songs but these are some of my favorites) is NF-- trauma which is different from his other songs, it's calmer and he doesn't rap he sings, Then NF-- I Miss the days and NF--- My stress. And as for a new artist that maybe you haven't heard I recommend Phora and to get to know him and a little bit of his story I recommend Phora-- My Story, Phora--- God's Plan and Phora-- Deeper than blood.
He's talking about himself. The video kinda shows that everyone can feel the message of letting someone down. But without the video he's talking about himself and how he feels he let them down. A lot of us can relate
You probably already know this but some of his songs where there's a high pitch voice singing at the beginning... It's actually NF singing but he alters his voice. Any high pitch singing in his songs belongs to him except for a few songs like NF - only ft Sasha saloan
I took it as the song is kinda a split between his perspective and his dads. And a lot of the chorus is his dad saying he let NF down. And that’s why the old man is singing. He didn’t help NF when he needed it
The song is about his conflicted emotions towards his biological father. On the one hand, he feels like he let him down, but on the other, he is questioning why his dad left him. Feeling like, no matter what he did/does, it's never good enough. And also the video has a third meaning. The video is depicting him being scared he's gonna turn out like his father, and look back at his life seeing each mistake kill the true him. Hence the ending
From my personal interpretation, this whole video can be taken in two ways: As him talking to his dad, and wondering why his dad never really helped him all the times that he needed it. At the end, he is portrayed as the elderly man because he is afraid of becoming like his dad to his children one day. On the other side of things, it could also be interpreted as him reflecting and watching his younger self going through so much trauma and difficulty, metaphorically trapped and dying, but his grown self is looking back on life, helpless and unable to change anything.
I feel like the message is that parents let there children drift away (sometimes to make them stronger) because they dont support and live them enough. Then by the time they come around it’s too late, the relationship is already dead 💀
Ha! "reacted to most his stuff", you haven't even broke the surface. And you're being left with so many questions because you're not going in order. That's your choice but...
You should react to Quadeca. He and NF are my two favorite rappers. Quadeca isn't as deep in his songs, but there are some songs like "I don't Care" and "Man on My Left Shoulder" that get pretty deep.
Try a change of genre, a rock band called falling in reverse - popular monster, drugs, losing my mind, or losing my life. Since you mention you like visuals those songs have some pretty strong lyrics and visuals
At the very end, is shows the tattoo "REAL" that NF has on the same spot on his arm, then the woman calls him "Nathan" - obviously NF's first name. Watch the video over again and listen to the lyrics as if he is addressing his older self. It all makes sense. Keep going on the NF train - I'm loving it! 💖😊
Harvard ? Are ya sure ? hehe kidding, I'm sure I am only the 5,529th person to say this but NF (Nate F.) is the old guy and the young guy. Also the old guy only sings the hook, so NF raps/complains etc then his father/old self just apologizes and never changes. I can totally relate, I have stubborn ass genes in this family(myself included) lol. Plus at the end tries to go in reverse but it is too late.
Im not sure (I haven’t done any fact checking) but i feel like the message is that he feels as if people who are watching him suffer without helping him will regret it once he is gone. Im not completely sure though (:

Yes the old man is Old NF talking to the Young NF. So yes the old man is NF. Re-watch the video. He let him self down!
It's old and young NF plus I believe his dad so triple meaning

That exactly what I think. It he says but thats what parents do? If he is referring to his younger self he wouldn't be his child.
