There’s this tea shop that my step daughter loves to go to, and all of the (I’m assuming Chinese) employees look so beat down. I’ve been there three times and not once did I see one of them smile, make eye contact, or make a verbal reply to any greeting or expression of gratitude, despite the fact that they can clearly understand basic English.
