It's Time to Talk About Pixel Buds A-Series

- I finally got my hands on Google's new Pixel Buds A-Series, and boy are they interesting. Has Google made an excellent set of earbuds? Or is this just a worse version of last year's Pixel Buds?

That’s hdr look is Amazing. Maybe it’s about time for another production details video.

With the assistant, you can just start speaking after the first chime as long as you keep holding on the touchpad. No need to say the command!
Yea that's right, he missed to test that out probably
Yeah makes me feel like a undercover cop
@@tebuzzer All earbuds have this feature...
I didn't know that. Thanks !
Actually, I think for BT earbuds, the mics sound REALLY good. Probably the best we'll get from a wireless pair like this imo.
They also sound really good if you’re wearing a mask as well!
Thank you for the comprehensive review. I got mine free with my Pixel 6 pro purchase. They should be here in about 4 to 7 days. Can't wait to try them out!
My Sony WH-1000 XM4 has the same style of Google Assistant where you press the button and it gives you the notifications. I think it's a Google Assistant change rather than the headphones.
Please make a lava lamp review
Great one as usual! Also, I love the aesthetic and stealthier fit of the Pixel buds - so much better than those that stick out of your ears, without compromising seal like the Galaxy Beans did
Had the beans, absolute garbage fit, fully agree
You can also activate the Google assistant by pressing and holding the bud, and then asking a question while still holding your finger on it, then releasing after you finish speaking.
Tell us what else is Rock solid Mark.
Oh and great review.
I bought this today and damn these sound great and are super comfortable
The lack of the volume control is my biggest gripe on it , I haven't tried the adaptive sound yet though so I hope I enjoy that
Most likely you can use Google assistant to control volume
You can try out the Nothing Ear 1 sometime, same price but with ANC and then maybe compare them ?
YES MAN, THINKING THE SAME THING!
Dms has an in depth review
Sound signature of A series is better thn nothing ears1.
Nothing is Nothing infront of Pixel buds A :D
Still using mine daily. The wings bothered me so I eventually cut them off with a razor. They are so much more comfortable now and can sit deeper in the ear which has increased sound quality (especially the bass) quite a bit. I will say they aren't quite as secure without the wings, but they stay in fine when I'm working at my desk or around the house.
the original pixel buds (gen 1) were released in October 2017.
Another excellent video. Can’t believe I only came across this channel a couple of months ago. Content is superb 👏🏿
Much appreciated!
Thank you mark for making this review I always enjoy your videos
You can ask Assistant to turn up the volume.
I bought these off this video and I'm telling u these are excellent for voice calls . Music? Get others for bass etc but omg clarity and mics for calls are holy shit good
Great video, thanks. The buds don't look bad at all. The lack of ANC is a pity though, otherwise I might have clicked the buy button. Sidenote: your room/office is so nicely styled!
They are good just bought a pair at the pawnshop today for 65bucks very nice and sleek and fit in my ear great.
Great Review! Came for the thumbnail, stayed for the great content from a fellow Canadian👌
would you recommend the fit of the pixel buds a series ahead of the airpods gen 2? with forgetting they are in your ear because of no seal kind of feel? and would you consider these over the pixel buds 2? for the swipe and wireless charging and more seemless connectivity
Hearing your own voice is key for conversation. I think noise cancellation is overrated for everyday use.
The only time I felt they were really necessary is when flying, the drone of the engine is so bad.
There *is* a volume control on the Pixel Buds A Series -- Swipe the side of the buds forward to increase volume; back to lower it.
That feature does not exist on the a-series. Only the pixel buds gen 2, and the pixel buds pro.
Magnate trick was super unique to mention))
Thanks for the video it's very useful! What's the watch you are using?
I tried these but had to return them. No matter what I tried they made my ears itch like crazy. My Jabra 75ts don't do that.
Just got these with the Pixel 6 for free, but I already have the Galaxy Buds+ and I'm not sure which to keep and which to sell. Any opinions?
Probably sell pixel buds since they are brand new and i dont think they're as good as galaxy buds
Bruh how did you get a pixel 6 for free
which is more comfortable in your ear and has the sound you like. Should be easy to decide
@@mori_a.Wolfboi lmao read it again
@@Zombified- oh lmao
Google now allows you to adjust the bass level with the new update!
Just bought them on your recommendation. 👍💯
hi, mark weather I agree or not , your such a natural, great speaker, you should be on a news cast..your really that good
Thank you for the kind words!
damn dude your videos are good, so diff from others
A+ review thanks
Curious what you'd think about the new ear (1) from Nothing with the same price point
The pair I owned had a major flaw. They didn't work if you put your phone in your pocket. They just cut in and out constantly. When I would go for a walk, I would pop my AirPods in and get some tunes going on my iPhone X, then drop my phone in my back pocket. I never gave it a second thought. I recently switched to a Google Pixel 4a and Pixel Buds A Series. I start on a walk and drop the 4a in my pocket and the Buds just cut in and out constantly. They were unusable with the phone in my pocket. I went through Google support and they heard it on the call and would have replaced them. I chose instead to swap them at Best Buy. The second pair I got had the same flaw so I took them back as well and got the Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro. They work great with my phone in my pocket! The Pixel Buds A Series have a serious flaw.
I have the Pixel 6 and that seems to have gone away (don't know for sure, just got both) I can even put the phone in my pants pocket and still get great reception. Also I don't know if you have the same experience but mine do wireless charge. Off the Pixel 6 phone or my wireless charger for the phone. it isn't a pixel charger but seems to charge both pretty fast (if only one at a time)
@@jdavid2437 That's good to know. I may have to give them another try when I get my Pixel 6 Pro. I liked them other than that issue.
02:49 Nice observation. I noticed it too.
Yeah, I've found that you can change the volume on these with 'Hey Google, volume x (where x is a value from 0 to 10)", much like any of the Home/Nest devices.
Excellent review as always
I got my Pixel A-Series buds for *free* with my purchase of a Pixel 6a phone. They sound pretty good ... and you can't beat the price!
I also love them. And not just for the price either. I rotate between airpods 3rd gen and pixel buds a. I like the pixel buds better in most cases. They just sound amazing at low volume.
@@THExDUDEx8624 the connectivity is seemless on iPhones? I own Airpods 2
I have these and I did not know the case was magnetic.
Is it better than Galaxy bus 2?
I can't wait for the next Tech Rewind episode.
You're wrong about the assistant feature.... You can hold the earbud and ask the assistant whatever you want, you don't have to say Hey Google
good one as always ❤️
That lack of wireless charging is what kills them for me.
Do they have multipoint connection?
Would you prefer this over galaxy buds plus
Funny the ones I have do have wireless charging, what's up with that?. You can also charge the case and the buds from the Pixel 6 phone.
I hate wirless earphones, they are always messing up on me in either a week or 2 days thats why I always used wired
Is it worth it over the Samsung where I got an Samsung and I want a good pair of buds without spending a lot$ 99 to 150 from a good company
Buds z2, nothing ,this one ,soundcore life note 3, which should I go for
dident even mention the built in translation.
That wall -E comment had me dead 💀 😂😂
Are these suppose to turn off once they leave the ears coz my pair don't
When i plugin my buds everyone in my room can hear.
Hw can i resolve it ??
Waiting for tech rewind
I think anyone who was thinking of buying Pixel buds A-series has hit pause on that decision coz they wanna first check out full reviews of the Nothing Ear (1)s.
I stopped when he said it's difficult to use it outside ,now company's like oppo ,nothing , OnePlus had proved thet ANC can be fited under 100$ pixel should have done it too
Can you compare the Pixel Buds A-Series with the nothing ear 1 :)
Dude, how you going out there and saying Hey Google in your video? Can't do that ...
Everyone: Nothing Ear 1
Mark: Pixel Buds A, take it or leave it
Does anyone know what watch model is he wearing?
4:15 mic test
great! I am going to buy them
Ok..nice…but - Do they report back to Google like where you are…and what you are listening to? Since Google seem obsessed with personal surveillance one has to wonder!
no volume control. Weird!!
Just got these for £69 was looking for a decent pair of headphones for gym
Where did you find them for that price?
To be withdrawn from the market!
Often the left earphone loses the signal and the notification sound is very loud (ears hurt). These problems are confirmed by customer support.
The cost does not come close to the value provided by the product. It is much better for much less.
I really wish tech reviewers would censor phrases like "Alexa" and "Hey, Google" in their videos because it always sets off everything in my house.
oh wow I have the same watch :o
$99? Wow, so cheap. Relatively speaking compared to the more expensive ones, yes they are I can't disagree, but I can buy 6 pairs of what I currently use and burn through all of them. Sound quality is about the same maybe a little worse, from my experience, and if I need ANC I pull out the expensive ANC over ear headphones. Nothing beats those. Feature wise of course they won't compete, but come on $15. That's got to be worth something. Do these really get you $80 more wireless earbud value?
The profit these things bring in is absurd. Apple probably makes close to 80% net margin selling theirs. Even the $1500 iPhones can't compete with that. It's why companies like raycon can exist that spend the majority of their money on advertising and still be profitable selling _gasp_ $70 wireless headphones. Wow, so cheap. Maybe I should start my own wireless headphone company...
Will say though video quality was outstanding. Very impressed.
What's the model of the watch on the table shot? (With the Japanese sign)
The fossil hybrid HR. I have a video about it on my channel.
@@MarkSpurrell thank you sir!
You are a good man.
You look like Eve too. LOL 🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Yaah first to comment.... so happy
Yooooohhh u a activated my G A 😂😂
Can anyone tell me if the pixel buds A series still support real time translation?
Thats what I am tryiong to figure out too. My father does not speak english and I would like him to be more comfortable visiting me now that I live in the US, so if they do that is amazing and it would be perfect for him.
@@skater1999st1 I found it on the pixel buds A website. The pixel buds A do support real time translation. But now ALL Google assistant compatible earbuds do. So I'm probably gonna go with either the beats buds or the Galaxy buds because they sound better and have active noise cancelling, plus they now support real time translation.
@@tbroschat81 That is awesome. Thank you for letting me know
@@skater1999st1 you're welcome
pixelbudsA vs Beats studio buds
Can these be used with iPhone
Yes, although some features like calling upon google assistant won't be available (obviously).
@@MarkSpurrell thank u
It makes no sense to me why you are not disturbed about the low volume on these!!
I did not have any issues with volume whatsoever. May be dependent on your phone. Mine easily got loud enough to damage my ears over time.
@@MarkSpurrell Yeah I figured it out finally! Sorry.
@@alexlindsey6446 how did you solve it
@@coolkenny13 First thing: I'm operating an Android device. So answers for you may vary. But if you're an android person.... research on here & elsewhere on how to become a "developer" of your phone within your options settings. Its just a BS term...you're not all the sudden expected to start coding or anything! lol After you follow the steps to become a "developer" then you can toggle and change many previously unknown settings within your device INCLUDING the volume restriction/governor that Samsung and perhaps Android have as default into your phone to protect your ears and their asses! It's WAY LOUDER without their stupid restrictions now. You won't even need a volume enhancer app anymore if you were using one. If you DO use one with the restrictions now off,,,HOLY SHIT YOU CAN GET SOME VOLUME FROM EVEN GARBAGE HEADPHONES. Good luck. Just keep trying and researching. The answers you find are all correct and can be usefully applied BUT remember they don't apply to every individual case. Alex.
horridly low volume level. I don't get the hype. I've tried all the tricks but still can't figure out why the maximum volume is a joke.
Watching this because I've just got the free buds with the Pixel 6a preorder and just noticed the watch with the clear band. .what watch is that?
Nothing ear one are better than these with the same 99 dollar price
Interesting 😀
But it is 150 aus dollars
No ANC quite disappointing.......
Yeah i agree
They're competing with the nothing ear 1. Even though the ear 1 has more features, I prefer the buds A look
The only extra feature it has is ANC.
Buds A have Better sound and a way more compact case.
Where can you even buy the ear 1. Seems like the 3080 launch, no products
ROCK SOLID
Want to see nothing ear 1
Don't recommend these to anyone. They don't work outside while you are walking or jogging. Audio cuts in and out. While it looks great, and has a lot of great features, not being able to use them while running or walking is a complete dealbreaker. It is like owning a smartphone that doesn't make phone calls. Yeah, lots of cool features, but in the end, it should be a phone.
What do you recommend
Had this issue with the previous model, and was wondering whether they had fixed that issue.
@@akshay5569 For jogging and mountain biking, I've been using aftershocks. Honestly, there really isn't a great solution for buds, as far as I can tell. Tried a lot of them.
First?
Absolute garbage product - mine, like thousands of others, have the issue of one ear (or both occasionally) repeatedly disconnecting, which happens at the slightest movement of the head (looking to cross the street being a prime example). Worst headphones I have ever owned. Googles answer is to switch off a bunch of features, which doesn't fix the problem. I'm using paired with a pixel 5 btw. Its the last piece of google hardware I will ever buy, I'm soon upgrading to Samsungs ecosystem.
Its blatantly a hardware issue with the buds that google simply refuse to take responsibility for. Go use google and search for 'pixel bud connection issues' and see for yourself.
DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP.
I have exactly the opposite experience, the work great, wonder if it is a certain part of the assembly line or part of it. Not dissin you just the ones i got work really better than I expected.
I had this issue with the previous model. It was awful, they disconnected a lot to the point where i knew sometimes i just wasnt going to able to use them, or would only have one ear bud functioning and had to learn to be ok with it. Really am wondering how much improvement have they made 🤔
The lack of wireless charging is unacceptable for this price point
5:50 "THIS IS a very compelling set....", not "THESE ARE." Because English.
0:01 WTF is a "whack of competition?" Please do these reviews in English.
