- NEW RYOBI ONE+ HP Compact Cut-Off Tool HAS BETTER FEATURES THAN Milwaukee! In this video we unbox and test the new RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V 3'' brushless compact cutoff tool to see what the #verycoolgang can expect for their money. This new 3'' compact cut-off tool from RYOBI is a part of their new ONE+ HP line of compact brushless tools that we have covered in other videos. This new RYOBI ONE+ HP compact cutoff tool is surprisingly strong and super fast, it even has some features that are better than Milwaukee tools version of this cut-off tool! Let us know your thoughts and experiences on RYOBI tools in the comments section below, what do you think about this new cutoff from RYOBI tools as well compared to Milwaukee?
Wow, just imagine how many stitches I’ll get from this one!
The 3 inch blades from Dremel also fit so if your looking for a wood saw blade.
I agree, even if the Ryobi tool is great, the tips do suck!
Which blade though? They are all grinder type wheels at the 3”. Can’t find any saw blade types
I still wouldn't cut wood with it. I'd rather use one-handed rotary saws (that look like a beefed up version of this one but with lower rpm), or plunge saws, or skill saws, or table saws, or jigsaws for that. This is more suitable for thin stuff.
Being able to change direction comes in handy if you want the sparks to go in the other direction
The cut off melee weapon has a short-ranged precursor attack!
I might have to get that to cut vinyl siding. I would love to see it on TTR vs the Milwaukee m12! SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON
I was never one for having a vacuum as part of my tools, but I do set up my shop vac and set it up or drop curtains to control dust and flying debris, Im also a certified welder {retired} and used shop vac for welding and grinding dust, drop sheets {welding curtains} so flying sparks did not start a fire or damage chrome or painted surfaces. When i did carpentry and construction always swept and vacuumed, old garbage cans for trim pieces, a clean work area is best practice.

Ha!! The allen key fell out. Not a great place to store it.😅
I really like that you're not bias in your test's. I personally think that Ryobi is a very good tool.
Im a milwaukee and ryobi fan/user and i gotta say ryobi sends some very very good blades/wheels with their tools, which is impressive given the affordable price.
Ok. I'm sold on the tile cutting capability. Gon save me a lot of money. Thank you. I'll keep it. Was pondering returning mine because it is smaller than I thought.
Ryobi has an awesome green color. Ryobi is very thoughtful for using same battery style for every one of Ryobi tools. That is amazing. ryobl is like hyndai.hyndai started out kinda funky but nowadays their great.
I purchased this tool to help me in my trailer rebuild this summer. I am hooked on the Ryobi line so it was a no brainier. I needed to cut off about 20 bolts. It worked great. I also bought the new HP Sawzall. I haven’t put it to the test yet. The old 2 amp batteries are crap on this newer stuff. I have a couple of the 6 amp batteries that makes these tools sing.
@VCG Construction. Thanks Vince for practicing safety first by removing that battery before changing blades and wearing your protective eye wear when using that cutoff tool. No one wants to see you get hurt. And being in a hospital over the weekend is really no fun.
I agree that the Ryobi cutoff tool should have dust collection. Milwaukee has it on their M12 cutoff tool and it helps keep the workspace clean and we don't have to breath in that dust.
Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
Have a safe and pleasant Labor Day Weekend.
Thanks C, we appreciate it!
This is going to be the dream tool for every bike thief ! Zip zip zip, and off comes that lock! 🔓 And away goes your bike....🛵🏍️🚲
Had a 12v one from lidl for years, you could trim your toenails with it it was so precise, 30 quid but the battery died after 3 years and turned it into a Frankenstein machine.
Its about time!!! Ryobi is stepping up and they bring up my sales.
another fantastic video sir. and I don't think it should be colored red. I think the M12 cut off tool is better. but only a TTR can prove that :)
Just got the same tool as a package deal with three batteries. 6,4,3A and charger for $199. I have some new videos of the work the tool did on my You Tube channel. What a great addition to my line of Ryobi tools.
You said it like I have been saying, "professional tools for homeowners". 👍
I love the versatility, flexibility, and cost of Ryobi tools. And they apparently got more in the works. I also think this tool would be better with a vac port one could connect to a regular vac cleaner tube.
One thing for sure Ryobi is looking at their competition and improving upon some of the other brand tools. For example, my Ryobi Grinder implements the tightening wrench tool inside the handle which is pretty clever, something my Makita, more expensive, AC powered grinder does not.
I would love to see Ryobi make fun vehicles like a Ryobi Go Kart or scooter, vehicles I have been designing, hacking modifying using hoverboard motors and parts from Razor scooters to work with Ryobi batteries, check out also my Razor 300 scooter with 36V Ryobi battery hack, also on my channel.
I like ryobi tools... they do great around the house and for a few months on the job. My little ryobi tools lasted14 months before I had to change them out...1 piece at a time. HD didn't know why I was returning everything lol... just without abusing them and not forcing them to do the job, they'll do just fine.
I just picked up the compact drill and impact driver set and they are COMPACT let me tell ya. A lot smaller than my full size drill and impact, perfect for the smaller spaces and lots of power!
In my experience cutting granite with a grinder the reverse comes in handy when it comes to kickback from the rotating of the blade.
I have a bunch of their tools from decade ago still working no problem. Good for home use.
This would be awesome for my line of work as an apartment maintenance technician
The Milwaukee is very compact with the original battery it has and can fit into incredibly small spaces. The only shortcoming of the Milwaukee tool is that it does not have a tool holder. The Allen wrench for it is a odd size it is not metric Nor standard it is just Milwaukee size. I found that once I misplaced it particular allen wrench that came with it I couldn't get the blade off so I nylon tide the Allen ranch to the handle 😵 .
I really like all of my M12 Milwaukee tools that I have bought but I have to say this is the most versatile one probably that least used one but when I need it nothing else will fit the bill.
Always good to see your testing tools Vinny 👍
I think the size is 5/16ths Allen wrench but I could be very wrong as I mostly just use metric. Failing that a ratchet with a 27 or 30 torx does the trick. Again I can't remember which one 😂
3/16" fits like a glove. In metricism that is 4,7mm according to my caliper.
@@kundetjenesten hey you're probably right I probably missing the most common allen wrench out of my sets 😵that makes sense 👍
😄 I'm way too old to my eyes are way too bad to be able to read anything on an allen key at this point like the guy above I'll have to grab my caliper and see what it says 👍
@@conantdog I can highly recommend grabbing a set of allen wrenches that have the size of each wrench printed on the holder, not the wrench itself, it makes it SO much easier to read (my eyes are starting to notice the aging process too). 😉
This took cut better than the Milwaukee video you showed very impressed
Love and respect bro your videos are awesome seriously all your points of view not just marketing love all your hard work thanks for sharing whit all of ous
If they would just make warranties like Milwaukee and make their batteries better I’d still be a ryobi guy. Ryobi were the tools that built my business to what it is today. But got tired them burning up and the 100’s of pounds of bad batteries I have at this point are astounding... and their warranty is super hard to get validated. You have to have the battery the tool came with, when you have a business and have so many tools and batteries to keep multiple crews going each day it’s hard to know what battery went with what tool, if that battery died and you recycled it then you’re screwed
@mike h then explain to me why I have a literal pile worth hundreds and hundreds of dollars of ryobi li-on batteries that all quit taking a charge. Some weren’t even a year old when they quit taking a charge?
Sometimes you can get lucky and put them in an old ryobi flashlight and turn it on a second and then get the battery to charge, but if it would charge again after that is kinda up in the air.
While I have 15 Milwaukee li-on batteries ranging from 3-1 years old and not a single one has gone bad yet.
I think they’re worse because I’ve been doing commercial and residential construction for over 20 years and i own 10’s of thousands of dollars worth of power tools. Along with those bad ryobi batteries I’ve also had hit and Miss luck with their cordless tools themselves. Numerous circular saws having bearings go out within 2 years of regular use, brushless sawzalls going out that were less than 90 days old, many drills smoking the ghost... I’ve yet to have a Milwaukee tool actually burn up or go out yet. Honestly their old blue tools held up better in some regards in my experience.
Got their lawnmower, battery that was included (5ah 36v) was doa. I could ship it back, but only as a set, and I needed the lawnmower then and there, and had an extra battery for it, so my loss. Probably a faulty cell and I could identify it and rebuild it once I have the time, or find a place which would do that for me. Pretty stupid though that I'd have to return all the purchase just to fix the battery issue.
Ryobi's got another multi-material saw at the Depot. Seems like almost no one knows about it, it's brushed so it's older, but it goes up to an inch in depth. I'd like to see how that one compares to this new model. I'm sure it's not as powerful, but I wonder if the extra features can make up for that.
I have the Milwaukee cutoff tool even with the 12v 6.0 battery it's drains it quick. Cuts great but you would need several batteries in the field if you had to do much cutting. For a few short bursts it's great and the dust boot/ guard is a nice feature.
I know this is 2 years old but does yours cut out at half battery?
Just got this tool and it's great. Man, I wished I had had it last year when I sided my shed! Between a cutoff angle grinder and snips, this tool and the angle of the handle to blade would have been awesome for that!!
TTR Vince
..the Green VS Orange VS red of each of these companies cutoff tool... cheers from Canada :)
Won't knock any tool brand.I started with Ryobi when they were those beastly blue tools but now I'm team Red all day (MILWAUKEE)
Funny that is, that both brands are made from the same company.😁
@@jeffel80 its just look like TTI techtronic industries are making both Milwaukee and Ryobi.
I am also the only person in Australia to own the cutt off tool, they only sold one at bunnings (oz version of HD)
I think the Milwaukee one is more compact and more versatile with the circular saw like shoe it has with dust collection.
I've used my Milwaukee cut off tool on the job for cutting everything from a 6 inch cast iron waste pipe that I couldn't shake with a sawzall, too nails poking through siding that I could nip off but couldn't cut flush.
I used it the other day to cut back a metal shield for a baseboard .
it's also very useful to keep around for when your neighbor or your son locks his bike up and can't find the key 😂.
Well, the Ryobi HP batteries have bigger/better cells in them than the others, so of course they'll give the new tools better performance, even without the tabs. They give _all_ of the Ryobi tools better performance - including the brushed tools. That's how they can advertise that on the box.
You should try a b&d matrix trim saw attachment it does not have any depth adjustment but it will cut thru anything you have the depth to cut thur but the whole matrix/ bolt on tool line works just as good or better as the independent tool it's replacing but by fat the most used for me was the trim saw used it to make multiple different projects for years and it never let me down the only reason I bring it up is you could put all these blades in that and have way better control and protection especially with the 20v drill
Love your videos on Ryobi products! Used them for years and love seeing what they are coming out with.
Love ryobi and there helpful gadgets. I leave big jobs to bigger tools like Milwaukee. But I have some ryobi batteries for vacuums, scrubbers, and this!
I just bought the impact wrench RIW18X and its an absolute beast. Sheared a m12 stainless steel bolt head right off
I can imagine, I have the 262 impact wrench that took off rusted exhaust system from an 01 Grand Marquis. Lug nuts easy peasy, thanks Ryobi for a very good product.
"Do Has Dem!" Added to my daily conversational phrase bank.
Happy Sunday, VCG and the gang!🧰⚒🔨🔧⛏🛠🔩⚙️🧰😍
That Porta potty analogy is gonna be a go to! LMAO
It's likely that the HP batteries have a higher discharge rate than the old batteries, regardless of whether or not the extra pickups are being utilized!
There are two types of HP batteries. The regular HP and the HP+. HP+ have the added connections. If you look at a 1.5 ah HP battery you'll see they do not have the extra connections.
Ryobi makes it a bit confusing with not only having these two types of batteries, but also then adding the ONE + label...
I work in HVAC, but am also a nomad. I use Ryobi as it does what I need at work and on the road, also camping. Is it perfect? No. It works for me though. (I get some criticisms for using Ryobi for reasons...)
A slight bend in the allen key holds it in storage place.
Vince, I am curious to know why you say Ryobi is for home owners. Their line is undeniably the biggest. Are you saying they arent reliable or just not as strong as competitors. I have had the same Porter Cable set for years (doing major remodeling work for clients and myself.) I use my tools for full time work. They havnt failed me yet. Isnt Ryobi on the same plane? I have my eye on the Ryobi 12 tool set from HD. I do tile work now full time, and the Ryobi set has every tool I could ever need. Wdyt?
I think the issue with calling ryobi worksite ready or whatnot is that they do sell both low end diy oriented tools and prosumer tools.
Milwaukee or makita's business model is selling professional tools to professionals, ryobi's business model is being on both ends of the adage "if you arent sure how much you'll use something get the cheap one, if you use it enough to break it then get the good one"
Love the RYOBI line up of tools . I did not understand the HP battery either. Let me know if find more about them . One thing i do know the old Royal blue Ruobi tools use the same battery . Who else kept the same battery design from nightcad to lithium batteries
Definitely would go Milwaukee over royobi on this one. The dust shoe and small details make it a better tool and noticeably smaller for tight applications
Yo its crazy how fast your growing. Was it even a full year ago when you did your badass 50k giveaway
I have the HP compact drill/driver kit and like them. They are down on power from the full-sized tools, but I guess that's to be expected. They are small and lightweight, and will handle anything but the really extreme stuff. They make a good "side arm" for carrying on your belt with you. As for the cut-off tool...I've had it in my hand twice but put it back down. Great idea, but I feel like they should have went with at least a 4" wheel to give it more usable cutting depth. The depth this model has is very limiting.
That looks like it would be a nice little cut off tool for cutting into the nuts of a conveyor belt splice clips. I use an angle grinder now, it works but the bad part is, is that it cuts into the conveyor belt when trying to cut into the nut deep enough to break the nut to remove the worn clip.
Sound like the Ryobi HP batteries and tools are like the Ridgid Octane batteries and tools (both made by the same company). The extra 2 contacts on the battery and tool is so they can "talk" to each other. Probably measures the heat produced in the tool and battery and shuts down when things get to hot.
.
Reverse does matter. If you have to turn the tool around it allows you to throw the sparks in a different direction. Instead of in your face.
Are my eyes going or are these Ryobis getting brighter and brighter neon green? Pretty soon they can scrap the LEDs because the tools will just glow in the dark! They ain't pretty, but they'll get the job done! 😂🤣
They are getting bright colors lol
Green is in this year
Thanks for trying both batteries. I was thinking I had to buy all new batteries and I have seven 9 amp batteries!
Just bought the cut off tool. Wish you could get 3” blades rather than dremel shit. Can I cut vinyl plank flooring with this thing? I have a jig and circular already. But this would be so much easier
Great video! I think the dust shoe that the Milwaukee M12 brings is a big factor for me. The size of the battery is very large and could be uncomfortable to maneuver in very small spaces. I think Ryobi must have modified the batteries for this new line of compact products.
I agree. One of the things I like about the Milwaukee M12 is the small size and dust shoe. The 18V battery would give you more run-time, but the battery size would be an issue for me.
Ryobi stepping it up!! Hoping for a compact circular saw like that of the cut off tool around 3 1/2" blade to easily cut small wood sheet goods
Street goods you say 😂😂😂😂😂
That “guard” Vince, is a depth gauge...
I really wish the Milwaukee version had the variable trigger like the Ryobi. I love my Milwaukee version, but I was admittedly bummed when I got it and found out the trigger is meaningless since it's either ripping at 20k or nothing
That's why I haven't purchased the M12 cutoff. It doesn't make sense to me to have a non variable speed on a tool like this
@@hondaguy9153 I use it a fair bit for cutting steel tracking and occasionally duct when I work with it. The way I’m using it, with a metal max wheel, it would be almost unusable at anything less than full bore. I’m used to even my full size grinders being either on or off. I just didn’t understand the point of the trigger on a grinder if it’s not variable
@@PhysiqueGeek My understanding was if you drop it or let go of the trigger for any reason is that it doesn't keep running. More safety than anything else.
@@hondaguy9153 yeah I’m not a fan of grinders that use an on/off switch. That’s a great way to hurt yourself of the guy at the bottom of the ladder. I guess I’d prefer the trigger over the paddle style myself
The HP tools are basically borderline in my opinion. Borderline between Homeowner and Professional. I'm currently using mine Professionally, and so is my boss. He of course started making excuses when I saw his tools for the first time. Our opinion is, "We'll use them up and replace them." We were using the Ryobi Grinder pretty hard, and it finished its first cut-off job, but it literally broke at the last second. Thank goodness it was his tool. I'm curious if the Ryobi Grinder isn't good enough for that job or if we had a bad one. Right now, I'm hesitant to buy one for myself. Can you test the 18V battery grinder? I don't know if it was an HP tool, but it probably was since it was new a few weeks ago. I personally am going to step up to Rigid when I get ready to change my whole battery system.
You guys definitely need to test out the new dewalt 3" cut off tool!
I have the corded Dremel Ultra Saw. It’s one of the most versatile tools I own. This looks like something I would consider.
Just picked up the combo kit seems good nice a small think getting this saw next
10:11. There goes the Allen wrench. I would call that a fail on Ryobi's part. Another reviewer also noted how much slop was in the key holder, and he predicted that with time that would just start falling out. Next, I watch your video!
In the Euro versions at least the key holder hole is better shaped and retains the key very well
Hey Vince
Question any chance can you make a review on the Milwaukee 12v palm nailer? I don’t think you ever done one for that
Just bought this tool. I think it's a cool tool. The particular use case that I am using it for is kinda meh. I need to cut through 3/8 soffit as close as I can to the side of a building. I'm using Diablo multi purpose blades and it's ok. I am just switching batteries every 30 seconds because it's more than the tool wants to do. I still think it's cool and I'm definitely going to keep it. Tomorrow I'm going to use my old Craftsman 19.2 (lithium) 5.5" and see if it works any better. I can think of a lot of things that this tool would be great for so I will keep it. It's just not the best solution to my current situation.
As a mechanic kid who's father only showed him air tools I am so lost figuring out what brand to get.
Saw that the Allen key fell off during cutting, that may be a problem
If you put a slight bend in it it won't slip out.
Which is the best Milwaukee brushless drill kit
Fuel is the top of the line, but their “brushless line” between standard M18 and the fuel line is very good as well.
Their plain-jane "brushless" products are effectively performance rated to match their best brushes tools, but with the lighter weight and better battery life of brushless motors. The Fuel line is the next step up and adds performance plus some nice "mode" options to optimize tool performance. One-key is a step up from Fuel, adding some customization options to tune the tool to a specific function beyond the standard "mode" options, plus wireless tool tracking.
Gotta say, even without the dust shoe I find reverse useful if I need to do something like cut a toilet bolt and I want to blow the sparks away from me because I have to hold it at a weird angle because of space restraints.
Thoroughly impressed with the Ryobi stuff I've used so far. My primary tools are Milwaukee with Ryobi for the secondary. Between the two, you can find a tool for anything. Love my Ryobi portable fan! Things runs for hours off one battery. I also have the 1/2" impact wrench, made my last brake job so much easier as I don't have a place to use my air compressor.
I am curious how the new hp compact tools compare to the older tools with the plus hp battery since the new ones do not have the extra contact to communicate with the battery a head to head Is needed run both with hp plus battery's.
When you cut that tile the allen key fell out at 10:12 in the video 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Electrical contractor and all I use is ryobi. Power tools varies though
Yo Vince I can’t find any reviews of the Makita hybrid hammer impact driver? Can you do a review
would you recommend for a job site? i don’t need a grinder all day, but it would be nice to not always borrow one when i do need one
Can this tool be used to cut kitchen backsplash glass tile piece?
I'm definitely interested in the new HP tools. It would be interesting to see you text the one handed reciprocating saw as well.
Yo Vince! Thanks and God bless #theverycoolgang! 😁👍✌
10:09 allen key "Im going on an adventure, weeeeeee!"
I have both cut off wheels The reason I bought the Milwaukee one is because of the stupid guard on the rigid I would recommend the Milwaukee personally
I have this tool love it but don’t exactly know what the guide is for. I seems to get hung up on most cuts with the guide. Maybe it would n their because it’s for novices? Other than that great tool but also agree dose need an optional dust collector port. Great job as always, stay safe Happy Hollidays!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I’m looking at this for cutting off padlocks. I’m getting tired of working on air conditioners at rental property with a padlocked cage and NO ONE HAS ANY DAMN KEYS!! 😆
As far as the HP technology could you do a test with a long fastner using a non-hp battery and then test it using an hp battery and see if there is a difference in how the tool operates?
I’m super impressed
Hey can you guys do a review on the P3506B dual battery ryobi mitre saw please
This tool vs m12 cutoff tool?
Whelp both companies (Milwaukee + Ryobi) are owned by Techtronic Industries (TTI) so if Ryobi's got it, Milwaukee's going to come out with an upgraded version.
Ryobi and Milwaukee are both owned by Hong Kong based manufacturing company Techtronic Industries. home grade, site grade, both work well
So which new ryobi batteries work best for the old blue ryobi tools?
can this thing cut thru some plywood with a wood blade??
I'd love to get an xlock version of my 12v bosch grinder.
reverse matters. depending on how you are cutting it directs the material away from you. You ay have to cut towards yourself and then you can ensure its not shooting towards you.
Will it cut off a disc lock?
I think that Ryobi 18-volt battery looks cumbersomely big on that relatively smaller tool
I definitely won’t argue!
Just seen them in stores for the 1st time yesterday. Didn't see the new batteries though.
STRICTLY BLACK AND RED #MILWAUKEE
Vince I bought this tool this past week and I think it works great. Use for cutting tile. Also used it to cut my exhaust on my truck. A1 to my. Thanks for the test. Also I don't like where the key is... SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON Fellas.....and yes dust collection would be great. Ceramic tile dust was everywhere...lol
ceramic and concrete dust causes silicosis.
Does it work good with regular lithium ion batteries?
I just can't get over my Milwaukee addiction when it comes to tools like this. It must be the color. lol
right😂
RYOBI tweaked their HP Tech platform. Now the HP tech is inside the power tool which communicates with the HP battery's motherboard telling the battery that an HP tool is connected. All RYOBI did was remove the two terminals but it still performs as an HP would.
