Flying an airplane is easy man. I used my GI Bill and got my license in no time. I've flown RC's and played Sims most my life, but have seen people get it without of having been into all that stuff with no problem. When it comes to flying, given a good plane and conditions, the act of actually piloting the aircraft is the easiest part of it all. For me anyway. Hopefully will get my rotary one day. That being said though, on the other hand, I hope just because he has a cool rig and can can do what your seeing here isn't all your going off of to say "he can definitely fly a real one" 😆. I mean I don't know the guy, don't watch his channel, he could have been a test pilot for Skunk Works for all I know. My point though is I hope you have more intelligence than to come to that conclusion for those reasons.
@@itsjustyas7724 sometimes, it's not the gear, but how much enjoyment you derive from the activity. I have the same things you do....except i'm pretty sure my stick cost less than yours, lol. still an absolute goddamn blast.
If you haven't already, I highly highly recommend regreasing your Warthog gimbal. I can see some sticktion from your movements but I may be wrong. Sweet setup!
@Ben Taylor Using NyoGel 767A makes a noticable difference. Further, you can dissasemble it completely and sand down any casting flash/edges on the plastic parts of the gimbal, to reduce friction between them. That'll make it very smooth!

I think the only way to make this sim better would be to get like a Honeywell APU and have the whole setup powered by it… not sure if F-18s have APUs, but I feel like having a jet engine actually running and being able to smell it would be epic haha.
Every turbine or jet engine must have an APU, the engines take bleed air from the APU in order to start, they are bascially mini turbine engines, so having that beside you would be quite loud and you'd probably pass out from carbon dioxide poisoning.
I remember back in 2006 Making my own IR with remote LED's in the tubes of pens And strapping the pens on a hat facing a webcam And a Thrustmaster Playing WW2 "Fighter ace online" I think by now i would of made a Spitfire cockpit But the Digital to analog Would of been a programing nightmare

Such a beautiful setup, shame you can't use something like VR whilst still being able to use all those controls! You'd need something like augmented reality where the headset would know only to show the controls in the passthrough and render the in game world everywhere else. We can dream right? Getting a second and third monitor would help a lot though as you're losing a lot of peripheral information.
It looks good, huge issue is that isnt quite universal and the throttle is outright awful, the stick is too much in the front as well, it should be around middle like 40-50% of your thighs and a bit lower as well it seems, imo the ergonomics are 10x more important than having 230 buttons and displays all over the place, other than that its an awesome setup.. easily 9/10
Congrats on all these views man, I can tell by the hearts on like 95% of comments that you're really proud of it as well. Also, buy a vr headset, would make the setup 10 times better
I don't actually think so, personally I do and love Sim racing, also with a vr headset. But it disables me from having lots of button boxes or other things around me, that a monitor player, who can see them would be able to use. In vr you only see the button layout of the car you are in, but every car has a different layout. If he just Flys one plane tho and the buttons in rl match the position of the 9nes in vr you are right it would be dope!
What other cockpit display do you put on your 4 MFDs beside Left, Right, Center? and on other aircraft as well?.. I have 4 as well but only use 3 on F18 and maybe 2 on other aircrafts.. I ve been trying to get the rwr to display also but to no avail.. Is it possible for you to share your lua files?
