This isnt even the fastest one, the new Atom 4 uses the new Type R engine (turbo charged with 3 stages of boost 220bhp, 280bhp or 320bhp and 310lbft torque) If that's just too slow and boring they do a 3.0 V8 with a bit more power.....500bhp and 284lbft with peak torque at 7750rpm peak power at a mere 10,600rpm haha!!! Now that is pure insanity!!!
I believe this was the slowest with that spec engine?, (gm engine),USA SPEC, the UK spec with the honda engine/rotrex charger. Bhp figures over rated in USA but was proven to be more like 225bhp when UK about 330bhp...

Even though it’s not that fast, it has the stock 122hp motor, it’s so fun to drive you don’t care. My dream car is a Caterham or Lotus 7 which is the ultimate lightweight car.

Study the specs, dimensions, tolerances, on a v-tech... and then the same on an eco-tech... In machining, tolerances rule EVERYTHING. Longevity, uses the same principle. The closer the tolerances, the better the longevity. Honda wins hands down, every day of the week, and twice on Sundays. And to mention ""American built"" Well, most Honda's are assembled (built) in the U.S. I love America, and American companies. Therefore, I pick the Honda. And let the hate flow....NOW
The DF Goblin has the same Cobalt engine in it, with an option for the 260 hp turbo-charged model. Dr. Matt Carriker has one here on UA-cam with his #OffTheRanch channel. Personally, I'd rather have a Ford ecoboost engine in mine, if I were able to afford an Atom.
Funny thing is I saw one last summer in a grocery store parking lot in Bellingham, WA. Even my twenty year old daughter kiddingly said, “We should steal it.” 🤣✌️
I had a 2009 Atom 3 with a NA Honda. It's like driving a Civic. Doesn't overheat. Just a normal running engine, except it had 221 hp at the rear wheels. And, great fuel economy. +30mpg. I never measured it.

The V8 uses two Suzuki Hayabusa 1300cc motorcycle barrels/heads, overbored and fitted to a custom built crank and cases. So a DOHC 32 valve V8.
correction! The Ariel Atom does have a trunk. A frunk in fact. under the front spine panel.

Even if you put more horsepower in a heavier car for a more favorable ratio you still have more mass which is a built in handy cap.
