Great video brought back fond memories remember coming home a bit to fast one evening unable to brake in time and ploughing through two neighbours gardens demolishing their hedges and flower beds l was in right shit in morning when they were banging on my parent's door ..brilliant times though
Great video. As lads we had an Ariel Arrow which we rode as a scrambler. Loads of fun. No silencers (of course) No front brake. Seat held on with a rubber strap. No mudguards. They were the days!
Fantastic. I owned a total of three leaders and two Arrows ( one a Golden Arrow). I hated them at the time especially when burned off by buddies on their RD's but I'd absolutely love one now. One friend of mine even managed out drag me on an MZ ES250 Trophy!!!! My last one was a race bike with twin carbs ( centre mount of frame was removed) and that was pretty quick back in the day.
I had a 1962 Golden Arrow s s with a Avon sports Fairing, For that time it was a fast bike, never let me down, with the blue smoke you new the engine was getting oiled well, def- a marmite bike,i loved it,.
@@brando6BL Wrong. It's a 200cc. I had one with a blue tank from 1967-68. That was a 200cc Arrow Sport. The owner of this one states in another video that it's a 200cc model.
@@Derek_SFair enough...as you can tell, I never owned one. I did ride an off-road Bantam over the local field for a while, but took the 4stroke route when I started riding on the road with a Royal Enfield Crusader Sport. A 250 ;-)
@@brando6BL Ariel made a 200cc version to take advantage of the cheaper tax band. I had one but fitted with 250 bits but always taxed and insured as a 200cc! Well you couldn't tell the difference!!!
It was a lovely wee machine so uncomplicated and went like the wind my buddy hit the back of a lorry making an unsignaled right turn at sixty mph and was unconscious for six weeks neither of us went back on a motorcycle again
I had a James Sports Superswift with a Villiers 2T 250 engine and my mate Colin Hill had Golden Arrow. Both had the same top speed and were great bikes to ride.

Good to see you can change down properly, so many riders haven't got a clue how to do that on a constant mesh gearbox.

Brilliant like being there really enjoyed the ride ......Excellent.
Ahh just as I remember, an absolute missile down the hills and a slug going up.

Great video, loved my Arrow back then. A mate had the Leader which was basically the same bike with a pile of panels but it rode like a pig
The sound of an Arrow always gives my spirits a lift! That is a beautiful bike, thanks for the ride. Is that a 200 btw?
No, it's a 250 twin, two-stroke, buzz monkey.

Magic. Oh to be young again.

How did the arrow engine compare to say a Villiers 250 twin?
The sound of the aerial was unmistakable, thought sounded far better than the Villiers Frances Barnet.

ah the sound and smell of perky two-strokes - way before the Japanese big three :-) nice!
Yeah it goes great, now stop it😂
