Ashie Ashie sorry idk if i’ll make a tutorial, but to summarise, i basically make a slide show of different mouth expressions in sync with the music. then you can add squish transitions (kinda like the mouth is opening and closing). then mask the video and put it on the character. i don’t really have a good method of doing it, you could try experimenting a bit and seeing what works :-)
The biggest problem I have is getting the order right, and because I don't think you can rearrange the layers it just makes it super stressful but after watching this tutorial like 5 times I think ima try again, thank you! This is probably the best tutorial I've seen
cherryx yea that’s true :( if it were possible to rearrange layers on videostar it would be so much easier 😖 but try not to stress about it! i usually just make sure the layers on ibis paint are in the right order, then i import them into my camera roll in that order to make it easier when importing into videostar (if that makes sense). aw i apologise for the tutorial, it’s not my best piece of work, but thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

I didn’t really have enough layers to do that T^T. Or like, if I don’t have enough layers leftover than i can’t do it?-
mwah so i tween the eyes on the head (so just the head without the body parts), i save that, then tween again importing all the body parts, and instead of using the head on the body sheet, i use the head i already tweened blinking with :-) also thank you, im really glad i helped you! ❤️

Hiya! I have 1 question, when moving an arm from the side of the person to the like on the chest place, how do you stop it from “cartwheeling?” It’s shown at 3:29 as an example :) I’m trying to learn how to tween on vs for the first time and I found your video helpful

Mizz HC basically, make sure “show dots” is on (by clicking on options in the top right corner), when you use the anchor tool, a red dot should appear in the centre. you need to move the body part so it’s at the red dot (ideally the joint). then, turn anchor tool off, red dot should disappear but you’ll need to put the body part back in its original position
huwunie yep! so when you are choosing the colour background (after selecting the colour wheel), there should be a slider on the right with a blue line down the middle. lower that and it should become a transparent background 😃🥰
Ashie Ashie when you use the anchor tool, a red dot should appear in the middle. you need to move the arm so that the shoulder (if it’s the upper arm) is on the dot, or that the elbow is on the dot (lower arm). that should make that the centre point. then tap the anchor tool again to remove the red dot and move the arm back to its original position. you should be able to rotate it now :3

Destiny Hudson so it’s the same order is in ibispaint ( 1:32 ), so the hair would be the first layer you import as it would be at the bottom. the head would be the last layer as it’s on top. hope that helps 😃
ytlea at 1:31 i show it quite quickly, basically the lower the number (for example hair is no. 3) the lower the layer. so hair would be at the very bottom, and the head would be at the very top
Ramen Soup so there should be an anchor (⚓), in my case it’s on the upper left corner in the middle of the arrow things. once u select it, the anchor button should change colour and a red outline appears around the video you’re editing, so from then u should be able to move the body part or whatever 😃 idk if that helps but u can always ask me to explain anything in particular 🥰
Smol Might so i basically tween the head (including the mouth) completely separate from the body. then i just use the head i just tweened instead of the head from the body sheet. idk if that’s what you were asking but let me know if u wanna know anything else 🥰💕

Emerald Sempai sorry I’m not sure if I will, although there are plenty of tutorials on yt! i basically do it by taking screenshots of the mouth expressions I want, then editing them into a slideshow in time with the music. then I mask the slideshow onto the character and that’s p much it
This tutorial is helping so much! But when i go into videostar and put it all in on different layers if i add a mask to remove the black background it removes the whole thing, can you help me?
sxnfl0werxr so if you have a black background make sure that nothing on ur gacha character is black (including outlines), but if u do have black stuff on ur character then u should either change the background to a neon colour like green or save each layer as a transparent png (it makes sure there’s no background at all). then when you’re masking, tap on the background and mess around with the two circle things (on my ipad theyre on the right). i hope that kinda helps but if not then feel free to ask 🥰 i’m glad it’s helping you!

Pastellia cookiè i haven’t got the app open at the moment but I’ll try help lol. it’s easier if the body part you want to move is the only visible layer. also, if you already put movement and stuff on the layer, delete the keyframes because it just makes it easier. so select the anchor tool and a red border should appear and a red dot should be in the middle. the red dot is basically the centre point. you’ll want to move the object so that the joint is on the red dot (so let’s say you’re moving the upper arm, the red dot would go on the shoulder because that’s the centre of rotation). then turn the anchor tool off, show other layers and make sure body parts all fit together properly. that’s when i add movement and stuff :-) hope that helped but if you still have any questions go ahead :p
When you said to repeat for each part how do I do that? Liked I can’t just keep the hair for one part cause if I hit back space it just brings everything back and doesn’t keep what I want. Do I have to import the imagine into a different layer Everytime?

devilush no I know how to go inside multilayer but when I exit and go back inside it’s not there like how do you export the multilayer animation that’s what I meant
Poohbear_ Wolfie yes because when you exit, it doesn’t save in the layer format. you will have to go on create so the layers merge together. if you mean export as in export into your camera roll?? you go on create, then go on edit near the bottom of the screen > share videoclip >save video. if you want to save it so you can edit it later, i would save as a qr code, and next time you can load the qr code and all the layers again.

fishguts im glad it helped you! to make it smooth i make sure i use smooth curves when i’m moving/rotating parts (so there shouldn’t be just a linear line next to the slider thing). also sometimes the case might be that you put too many keyframes so it looks shaky and kinda messy. idk if that helps but if it doesn’t jus let me know! 💓💕

Your local Krew stalker so once you open videostar, there should be a plus (+) in the upper right corner. edit video > choose video > make video, then you can cut the video into shorter chunks, then to edit layers and stuff go on New (at the bottom) > multilayer. hope that helps 😃
Chloe the Gacha creator so let’s say you want to tween the lower leg (as in the calf), when you use the anchor tool, a red dot should appear in the middle. move the leg so the dot is where the knee would be, then turn off the anchor tool, red dot should disappear. then move the leg back in it’s proper position. the anchor tool basically just makes it easier when you’re spinning the leg and stuff. sorry I’m not the best at explaining 😅
Ashie Ashie I don’t think so, I’m sorry :( but if you have too many layers you could always make them separately (I always tween the head and body separately, then mask them together). If you run out of layers, you can just save that then add any more layers on top of that if that makes sense :-)

candii_playz so (on the home menu) go on the lighting bolt thing in the upper left corner (next to the heart), there should then be a button in the lower left corner saying ‘buy packs.’ if you scroll down a bit, multilayer should be there 😃🥰
candii_playz nooo, passes are only temporary so i wouldn’t recommend unless u only plan to edit for like a week lol. before you press on any passes, it should say “buy packs.” and when u select that, individual packs should show up. i’m on ipad so i’m not sure if it will be the same for you
Wqqbei i think that’s just how videostar works :( you can’t go back from another project to edit it again. what you can do is on the layers screen, share the setup as a qr code and then when you need to go back to that project, import all the layers in the same order and then import the qr code that you saved. ik it’s a lot of effort but it’s the only method i know sadly

Cyber Shot go on the lightning bolt in the upper left corner, go on buy packs in the lower left, scroll to find multilayer, then buy (yes it’s paid). if you can’t buy it, you could always try a tweaked version but i’m not very familiar with it. hope that helps x
Amazingsupergirl2000 make sure you’re saving the layer as a transparent png (in ibispaint, but i’m sure ur doing that already), and in videostar, when you’re importing the image on multilayer, when it says “Align and Resize” at the top of the screen, tap on the color wheel in the lower right corner. then, on the very right there should be a slider (with a blue slider down the middle), make sure it’s all the way down. let me know if that doesn’t help u in any way 😃🥰

When u import the parts into video star what was the order?
Destiny Hudson so it’s the same order is in ibispaint ( 1:32 ), so the hair would be the first layer you import as it would be at the bottom. the head would be the last layer as it’s on top. hope that helps 😃

Ramen Soup so there should be an anchor (⚓), in my case it’s on the upper left corner in the middle of the arrow things. once u select it, the anchor button should change colour and a red outline appears around the video you’re editing, so from then u should be able to move the body part or whatever 😃 idk if that helps but u can always ask me to explain anything in particular 🥰

How do you make the character talk (change mouth) whilst it’s animating lol
Smol Might so i basically tween the head (including the mouth) completely separate from the body. then i just use the head i just tweened instead of the head from the body sheet. idk if that’s what you were asking but let me know if u wanna know anything else 🥰💕

Emerald Sempai sorry I’m not sure if I will, although there are plenty of tutorials on yt! i basically do it by taking screenshots of the mouth expressions I want, then editing them into a slideshow in time with the music. then I mask the slideshow onto the character and that’s p much it
This tutorial is helping so much! But when i go into videostar and put it all in on different layers if i add a mask to remove the black background it removes the whole thing, can you help me?
sxnfl0werxr so if you have a black background make sure that nothing on ur gacha character is black (including outlines), but if u do have black stuff on ur character then u should either change the background to a neon colour like green or save each layer as a transparent png (it makes sure there’s no background at all).
then when you’re masking, tap on the background and mess around with the two circle things (on my ipad theyre on the right). i hope that kinda helps but if not then feel free to ask 🥰 i’m glad it’s helping you!

Pastellia cookiè i haven’t got the app open at the moment but I’ll try help lol. it’s easier if the body part you want to move is the only visible layer. also, if you already put movement and stuff on the layer, delete the keyframes because it just makes it easier. so select the anchor tool and a red border should appear and a red dot should be in the middle. the red dot is basically the centre point. you’ll want to move the object so that the joint is on the red dot (so let’s say you’re moving the upper arm, the red dot would go on the shoulder because that’s the centre of rotation). then turn the anchor tool off, show other layers and make sure body parts all fit together properly. that’s when i add movement and stuff :-) hope that helped but if you still have any questions go ahead :p

Poohbear_ Wolfie yes because when you exit, it doesn’t save in the layer format. you will have to go on create so the layers merge together. if you mean export as in export into your camera roll?? you go on create, then go on edit near the bottom of the screen > share videoclip >save video.
if you want to save it so you can edit it later, i would save as a qr code, and next time you can load the qr code and all the layers again.

fishguts im glad it helped you! to make it smooth i make sure i use smooth curves when i’m moving/rotating parts (so there shouldn’t be just a linear line next to the slider thing). also sometimes the case might be that you put too many keyframes so it looks shaky and kinda messy. idk if that helps but if it doesn’t jus let me know! 💓💕

Your local Krew stalker so once you open videostar, there should be a plus (+) in the upper right corner. edit video > choose video > make video, then you can cut the video into shorter chunks, then to edit layers and stuff go on New (at the bottom) > multilayer. hope that helps 😃

I’m kinda confused on one part,
How do you use the anchor exactly?
Chloe the Gacha creator so let’s say you want to tween the lower leg (as in the calf), when you use the anchor tool, a red dot should appear in the middle. move the leg so the dot is where the knee would be, then turn off the anchor tool, red dot should disappear. then move the leg back in it’s proper position. the anchor tool basically just makes it easier when you’re spinning the leg and stuff. sorry I’m not the best at explaining 😅

Ashie Ashie I don’t think so, I’m sorry :( but if you have too many layers you could always make them separately (I always tween the head and body separately, then mask them together). If you run out of layers, you can just save that then add any more layers on top of that if that makes sense :-)

3stełłe Snxwbałł so on videostar I go on the lightning symbol thing ⚡️ and in the bottom left corner you’ll see “buy packs” - just scroll through and find the one that says Multi-layer. you won’t have to pay subscription and you’ll have it permanently 😃 unfortunately it is one of the more expensive ones 😔

candii_playz so (on the home menu) go on the lighting bolt thing in the upper left corner (next to the heart), there should then be a button in the lower left corner saying ‘buy packs.’ if you scroll down a bit, multilayer should be there 😃🥰

candii_playz nooo, passes are only temporary so i wouldn’t recommend unless u only plan to edit for like a week lol. before you press on any passes, it should say “buy packs.” and when u select that, individual packs should show up. i’m on ipad so i’m not sure if it will be the same for you

When I press create just to work on another project, all the layers are gone. Can you help me with that problem?
Wqqbei i think that’s just how videostar works :( you can’t go back from another project to edit it again. what you can do is on the layers screen, share the setup as a qr code and then when you need to go back to that project, import all the layers in the same order and then import the qr code that you saved. ik it’s a lot of effort but it’s the only method i know sadly

YawnDeer so when you’re on the editing keyframes screen, just go on “back” in the upper left corner and you should see all the layers 💖

Cyber Shot go on the lightning bolt in the upper left corner, go on buy packs in the lower left, scroll to find multilayer, then buy (yes it’s paid). if you can’t buy it, you could always try a tweaked version but i’m not very familiar with it. hope that helps x

I put the body parts in with a transparent background, but it keeps showing it with a white background. Am I doing something wrong?
Amazingsupergirl2000 make sure you’re saving the layer as a transparent png (in ibispaint, but i’m sure ur doing that already), and in videostar, when you’re importing the image on multilayer, when it says “Align and Resize” at the top of the screen, tap on the color wheel in the lower right corner. then, on the very right there should be a slider (with a blue slider down the middle), make sure it’s all the way down. let me know if that doesn’t help u in any way 😃🥰
