I think it's easy to understand Kocho's dream. Unlike her sister, she can't feel symphaty for demon. But due to her sister being dead she felt she has to continue that dream. And that's bothering her "hating demon" principle. Now she feel relieved that someone new appeared and has same sympathy for demon so she doesn't need to feel that kind of contradictory any longer and can freely continue kill demon ruthlessly. Edit: all about Shinobu Kocho is contradictory. Her design supposed to be this gentle Butterfly but her slaying style is arguably one of the most "hurtful" (there's fan book that talked about it). Her smile as a facade to conceal her anger from the inside. Even her speaking tone and her personality (this supposedly to be spoiler for next episode).

Tanjiro, nezuko and friends are aged between 14-16. While the hashiras range between 18-23 with the stone hashira (age 27) and mist hashira (age 14) as an exception.

I think it sort of makes sense that Zenitsu and Inosuke are easily discouraged at the moment, since Zenitsu has consistently had 0 faith in his own abilities. We saw his backstory, and we saw that he only manages to defeat opponents while he himself is unconscious, so he has no awareness of how skilled he actually is. He thinks that he's a disappointment, so he has pretty low self-esteem. As for Inosuke, he was beaten pretty badly in his fight, and shown the massive gap between his own skill and other demons as well as other demon slayers. Despite all of his boisterous boasting, he realized that he's still a small fish in a big pond, and he needs to find the motivation to become stronger after being knocked down a peg and having his entire self image shattered. I think the point of Zenitsu and Inosuke not being forced to come to rehabilitation training, is because just like with normal rehabilitation, you can't get better if you don't *want* to get better and put in the effort yourself to make it happen. That’s not the whole backstory about her sister, we won’t get that till the movies come out in the next year or so. The next couple arcs will explain some but most of the explanations won’t come till the end of the story. There’s not really anyway to explain why she feels the way she does without spoiling, but they do a great job explaining everything when they get there. Trust the process…plus by the time y’all get to the newest season that just ended the movie will probably be getting released so it won’t seem like to long of a wait for the answers your wanting.
You cannot expect people to act logically right all the time. People feel different ways from their logical thinking and are contradicted to themself all the time. She feels angry and hates demons but she also treasures her sister's dream beacuse her sister was so important to her. So she logically thinks that we should try to make freinds with demons, but she's feeling angry, frustrated with them. Remember "people always contradict to themself."-- that's humaness. Don't expect anyone to act logically right all the time. That's not human, that's a robot!
I think for Shinobu, letting go of her sister's dream of making peace with demon's is like letting a part of her sister and her memory die. She wants to honor her sister's ideals. But at the same time, on a personal level, Shinobu can't bring herself to really see or understand people like Tanjiro or her sister, no matter how hard she tries.
There is a theory going around for a while that Sanemi Shinazugawa (the wind Hashira) was in love with Shinobu Kocho's sister. Another theory is that when Shinobu's sister was killed by a demon that just made him have this unhealthy hatred towards all demons and will never give Nezuko the benefit of a doubt.
Why tf do people tell ya'll to skip the rest of season 2 after finishing the Mugen Train arc? Ya'll dont listen to that, because that skips main part of the story. From here on, the arc goes from Rehab arc > Mugen Train arc (Movie or 1st half of s2) > Entertainment District arc (2nd half of s2). You can most definitely watch S2 ep 1, then to the movie, but definitely dont skip the rest of season 2. Love your reactions btw!
I think her backstory makes more sense if you imagine her as a person that hasn't solidified her world view; she's conflicted. She hates demons and wants to kill them. Her sister pitied demons and wants them to not be tormented anymore. Her sister had a very diametrically opposed world view and she's struggling with how she herself feels and how her sister felt. If she embraces her own ideology it feels like she's disrespecting her sister. So she's trying to find a balance between the two, something that interacting with Nezuko probably complicates things because now she's seen that demons aren't as black and white as she imagined. I think the friends things must be an awkward translation of her sister's world view.
Kocho feels like she needs to carry on her sister's legacy of feeling sympathy for demons and being able to find a way to befriend them, but it's not a belief she carries herself. She's forced herself over and over to try and befriend demons but every single one of them has tried to lie, murder, both, and more. We can see that when she tried to befriend one of the Older Sister Spider Demon. She asks about how many the demo had killed and she lies about that by a huge number. Then she tries to say that they can be friends but they first have to receive punishment for their crimes. The demon refuses showing that she feels no remorse at all for her actions. Then when she thinks that Shinobu is helpless being unable to behead demons, she tries to kill Shinobu thinking that there'd be no risk for her. This leaves Shinobu disappointed once again, and of course angry at all the lives that the demons there had taken. So it makes sense why she went for the kill with Nezuko right away. She had just tried to befriend one and it failed spectacularly, she doesn't really believe in her sister's dream, so she was done trying for the day. Just eliminate all the demons there and get the mission done before the demons can harm anybody else. They've probably seen an incident like that countless times before. Someone tries to protect their family member who had turned into a demon desperately thinking that there's a way to save them or that they'd be different. But no, every single one eventually loses out to their base instincts and ends up killing the same family member who tried to protect them out of a hunger for human blood.
Not sure why people are saying to skip to season 3 after Mugen train....But to be fair Crunchyroll does not actually label it by seasons, so just make sure you don't skip any arcs, whether you choose to watch Mugen train as the movie (which you should) or the episodes.
You need to remember that demons are extremely dangerous and pretty much best to be killed upon sight before taking a risk of getting killed. So far the Hashiras have only met ruthless demons, so they become ruthless as well. Nezuko is the first case they've heard of a demon that can control herself. That said, yes, Shinobu is an interesting character because she has a lot of contradictions. The way she presents herself, the way she speaks, the way she looks. I will not spoil anything, but Shinobu's backstory in the next arc will definitely explain more why she is the way she is and it's extremely sad. Coping mechanism and depression are difficult, especially when she's only 18.
Adam is exactly right. It is her sister’s dream, she tried to carry it on, but her anger at the demons conflict with that, that is why she wants Tangiro to do it, because he is kind and have sympathy for the demons, just like her sister so he will be able to actually work towards the sister dream.

Lady Kocho like most demon slayers and wants to eliminate demons and put and end to them. She hates demons even more because they killed her sister. The reason Lady Kocho said her dream was being friends with demons was because that was her sister's dream who has sympathy for demons. Lady Kocho wanted to carry on her sister's dream and legacy even though her sister was killed by a demon. It is not contradicting since her true nature is that she wants to eliminate demons and she is trying to continue to make her sister's dream come true at the same time but she is wearing out trying to believe in demons since they lie and kill. Knowing that Tanjiro is like her sister, she wants to pass on her sister's dream to Tanjiro since he also has sympathy for demons and Nezuko is a demon.

Adam nailed it. Shinobu tries hard to keep her sister's dream alive through herself but she is exhausted of that facade, she is angry, she is filled with hatred and thats why she was relieved to see someone like her sister in Tanjiro. Her sister dream can go on through him instead. In that regard Sarah did get a good read on her, she is contradictory. Shinobu never shows her true self, it just slips through at times (when she is ruthless and sarcastic) and thats why she is so off putting, both Zenitsu and Tanjiro could pick it up with their hightened senses (hearing and smelling) as well. She is a little menace 💜
Shinobu believes it is impossible to become friends with demons, but she has been trying to do so. At Mt. Natagumo, she offered the female demon conditions for forgiveness of her sins, knowing that the demon would never accept it. And every time she tries, she becomes more and more convinced that it is impossible. Shinobu hates demons. However, she also wants to fulfill her big sister's dream of "becoming friends with demons." Because of this, she is tormented by the intense contradiction and is tired. The answer is already given in episode 15. Shinobu: "I wish demons and humans could get along" Giyu: "That's impossible, as long as demons eat humans" The appearance of Nezuko, who does not eat humans, completely overturns this premise.
Shinobu personally hates demons for various reasons. Her big sister had sympathy for the demons. This part makes sense because they're different people. Since her sister died, Shinobu "inherited" various things from her sister as a coping mechanism (her cloak/haori, her smiles, her outlook on life and specifically the way she treats demons/her dream); this is how she deals with the loss of her sister. It's kind of like "if I carry on with these things, then my sister is still around in some capacity". Is it healthy? Absolutely not. But she doesn't have time to do soul-searching and find a good way to honor her sister's memory while living her best possible life. Shinobu had already committed her life to the endeavor of slaying demons; she no longer has the luxury of living a good life. She will continue to fight until the day she dies. Shinobu struggles to find a way to "save" these demons because that's what her sister wanted to do, i.e. the inherited "dream", but she continues to fail while witnessing their wanton cruelty time and time again. This is why she offered friendship to the spider sister on the mountain but didn't really expect the demon to pull through; Shinobu doesn't really believe that demons are capable of returning the kindness her sister showed them, but she can't allow herself to stop trying to show that kindness in her sister's place either. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Like Adam said, this causes an internal struggle within her. She constantly smiles on the outside (because of her sister) but her true self is constantly revolted by the demons. It's a typical heart vs mind struggle, and it wears her down over time. You can probably tell that Shinobu is my favorite character. I can really relate to the way she holds onto the memory of her dead sister and ruins her own life as a result of it. It's stupid and it's tragic but it's also... understandable.
kocho said she wanted to be friends with demons on the mountain. remember she said that the way to be friends with demons was for the demons to pay their penance for their sins against humans. she told that demon they could be friends once shes done that and is reincarnated into a good person.
People are free to talk about their dreams and no one has the right to stop them. When a child talks about their dreams, it is a very unfortunate example of an adult to say, "That's impossible, so give up." So no one has the right to stop any dream, and dreams are dreams because they will not come true. The steady effort and logical process to make it come true. Daily tasks. By steadily completing these, your dream will turn into a goal and you will reach it someday. If she says it is a goal, I would feel a little strange. But if it is a dream, I have no complaints. To take over the will of my deceased sister and make it come true. At the same time, to erase the demon that took her sister's life from this world. I will move towards realizing both of these as my dreams. In the midst of all this, I saw Tanjiro who seemed to take over my dream and entrusted my feelings to him. That's all. Personally, I have some doubts about where the responsibility lies, but in Japan 100 years ago, the life expectancy would have been around 50 years old, so there were not many dreams that came true. In that case, entrusting someone to someone is also a Japanese culture, and taking over and protecting is also a Japanese characteristic, so the strangeness will be lessened. It only took Japan about 100 years to modernize, and until recently the people were still walking around with swords, so to people from other countries their mentality may seem strange.
Its lowkey like Kocho's sister was killed by a demon, and as such, she has some inherent hatred for demons. It may be not strong enough to just flung her into rage at the sight of just any demon, but it is there deep within and continues to boil. Seeing a demon does reminds her of the fact that her sister was killed by a demon. Yep her persona that she puts up is more or less fake, but even if she wasn't maintaining that sweet face, she would still not be a hate filled monster. Shinobu still is a good person, but with bitterness in her heart. So yes, she did taunt the demon out of that one twisted corner in her heart. Its exactly what she said, she cant find herself to feel pity for them. Her trying to talk sweetly to the demons is just her trying to suppress her hate, but it still seeps out in her words. She is really attached to Tanjiro/nezuko sibling duo, as she had a sister, as such she feels relieved that Tanjiro is doing everything he can for Nezuko and IF nezuko can become a good demon, it would ease up some rage and hate in her heart. You can put it like, she has been poisoned with hate/vengeance/disgust for demons and it is slowly building up the pressure within her, and Nezuko being different would ease the pain a little. It just happens when you hate something a lot, and you see it way too many times, it becomes annoyingly haunting and its not a good feeling.
I think some of the comments of the watch order after this season are a bit confusing, so I'll try to sum it up here. If you have decided to watch the next arc, Mugen Train, in the form of a movie instead of episodes, then watch Episode 1 of Season 2 first. After the Mugen Train Movie, you can continue watching the next arc, Entertainment District, starting from Season 2 Episode 8. Depending on what platform you are using to watching Demon Slayer, they may have already split Season 2 into two parts for you (Part 1 being Mugen Train in the form of episodes, and Part 2 being the Entertainment District arc). From this point on though, you can ignore the other movies that have been released so far and watch the rest of the seasons in order normally (Seasons 3-4).
@@bluee048 No. Watch season 2 eps 1 first because that is the prequel to the movie, and it is a really good episode that will make you care a lot more about Rengoku which will be together with the main casts throughout the movie.

So the reason that Zenitus and Inosuke gave up because they'd been trying and trying and didn't progress and they didn't know how to progress or what to do to get stronger. Nobody was giving them any tips and tricks. I wasn't training per se. It's just that the 3 little girls took Tanjiro aside and told him what he needs to do. I mean if you're just told to do a thing and you try and try and don't get it, or any hints a normal person would back down. Only someone who has real skin in the game, like Tanjiro who needs to do this for Nezuko, will continue to stay when things get really hard and there isn't any real concrete reason to continue working so hard at a thing you can't do and it chips away at your confidence. Other than having a place (and people) to be for Zenitsu and being stronger for Inosuke there is really nothing much driving these two. Tanjiro knows this and he is trying to figure it out himself before he can teach and motivate them to also get there. As of now among the three Tanjiro has the strongest motive for sticking with it, quitting is not an option (like it is for some of the corps member because they are just normal people) for him because of Nezuko. So do the Hashira, their motive is the drive to exterminate Muzan who has caused them so much loss and grief. As for becoming Hashira, I think that is the last thing on Tanjiro's mind. Trying to become a Hashira is not a goal Tanjiro needs right now, because it will be a distraction from his original goal to turn Nezuko back. Becoming as strong as a Hashira to be able to achieve that is his immediate goal not the title itself. But he still needs a lot of guidance from the people around him, including the Hashira, if he is to become as strong as a Hashira. And because he has a goal he is willing to fight and die for, is polite and diligent, he is well liked by everyone and they want to help him. For Zenitsu and Inosuke there is no such drive for people around them to step up and help them be better. And they aren't gonna ask for help. I could be wrong. If I am could someone please point out what and where?
Don't forget. The chaos trio are like ~15-17 years old lol. The cringe is intentional, and it's hilarious when you just let it go. It also puts in perspective how annoying zen and inosuke and others can be until some specific moments later :)
Kocho wants to be friends with Demons but that's after they have been punished for how many humans they'd killed. Remember, the spider sister she killed? So altho she wanted to be friends with them, she just couldn't take the fact they lied to save their butt off and obviously, they won't just stop killing humans. The Nezuko thing was different. She hadn't taken a chance to assess how many humans Nezuko take but Giyuu stopped her right away. Still, feel free to doubt them still tho
Zenitsu made me abandon Demon Slayer the first time I watched it. Such a wasted oportunity not correcting how annoying he was in the anime adaptation... I look forward to the time when the adaptations get bolder and smarter about these type of things: certain things are a complete miss on the west and prevent anime to be better regarded in this part of the world.

There is a theory going around for a while that Sanemi Shinazugawa (the wind Hashira) was in love with Shinobu Kocho's sister. Another theory is that when Shinobu's sister was killed by a demon that just made him have this unhealthy hatred towards all demons and will never give Nezuko the benefit of a doubt.

Why tf do people tell ya'll to skip the rest of season 2 after finishing the Mugen Train arc? Ya'll dont listen to that, because that skips main part of the story. From here on, the arc goes from Rehab arc > Mugen Train arc (Movie or 1st half of s2) > Entertainment District arc (2nd half of s2). You can most definitely watch S2 ep 1, then to the movie, but definitely dont skip the rest of season 2. Love your reactions btw!
I think her backstory makes more sense if you imagine her as a person that hasn't solidified her world view; she's conflicted. She hates demons and wants to kill them. Her sister pitied demons and wants them to not be tormented anymore. Her sister had a very diametrically opposed world view and she's struggling with how she herself feels and how her sister felt. If she embraces her own ideology it feels like she's disrespecting her sister. So she's trying to find a balance between the two, something that interacting with Nezuko probably complicates things because now she's seen that demons aren't as black and white as she imagined. I think the friends things must be an awkward translation of her sister's world view.
Remember that Tanjiro can smell when someone is lying too.
Kocho feels like she needs to carry on her sister's legacy of feeling sympathy for demons and being able to find a way to befriend them, but it's not a belief she carries herself. She's forced herself over and over to try and befriend demons but every single one of them has tried to lie, murder, both, and more.
We can see that when she tried to befriend one of the Older Sister Spider Demon. She asks about how many the demo had killed and she lies about that by a huge number. Then she tries to say that they can be friends but they first have to receive punishment for their crimes. The demon refuses showing that she feels no remorse at all for her actions. Then when she thinks that Shinobu is helpless being unable to behead demons, she tries to kill Shinobu thinking that there'd be no risk for her. This leaves Shinobu disappointed once again, and of course angry at all the lives that the demons there had taken.
So it makes sense why she went for the kill with Nezuko right away. She had just tried to befriend one and it failed spectacularly, she doesn't really believe in her sister's dream, so she was done trying for the day. Just eliminate all the demons there and get the mission done before the demons can harm anybody else. They've probably seen an incident like that countless times before. Someone tries to protect their family member who had turned into a demon desperately thinking that there's a way to save them or that they'd be different. But no, every single one eventually loses out to their base instincts and ends up killing the same family member who tried to protect them out of a hunger for human blood.
Not sure why people are saying to skip to season 3 after Mugen train....But to be fair Crunchyroll does not actually label it by seasons, so just make sure you don't skip any arcs, whether you choose to watch Mugen train as the movie (which you should) or the episodes.
You need to remember that demons are extremely dangerous and pretty much best to be killed upon sight before taking a risk of getting killed. So far the Hashiras have only met ruthless demons, so they become ruthless as well. Nezuko is the first case they've heard of a demon that can control herself.
That said, yes, Shinobu is an interesting character because she has a lot of contradictions. The way she presents herself, the way she speaks, the way she looks. I will not spoil anything, but Shinobu's backstory in the next arc will definitely explain more why she is the way she is and it's extremely sad. Coping mechanism and depression are difficult, especially when she's only 18.

Adam is exactly right. It is her sister’s dream, she tried to carry it on, but her anger at the demons conflict with that, that is why she wants Tangiro to do it, because he is kind and have sympathy for the demons, just like her sister so he will be able to actually work towards the sister dream.

Zenitsu's spiral while propelling himself up into the air is so funny. It gets me every time. The deranged pervert energy combined with the hilarious animations is so absurd I can't help but cry with laughter. One of my favourite things about this anime is the comedic animations and faces. They're just so well done. I agree on the screaming though, it's really grating.

Lady Kocho like most demon slayers and wants to eliminate demons and put and end to them. She hates demons even more because they killed her sister. The reason Lady Kocho said her dream was being friends with demons was because that was her sister's dream who has sympathy for demons. Lady Kocho wanted to carry on her sister's dream and legacy even though her sister was killed by a demon.
It is not contradicting since her true nature is that she wants to eliminate demons and she is trying to continue to make her sister's dream come true at the same time but she is wearing out trying to believe in demons since they lie and kill. Knowing that Tanjiro is like her sister, she wants to pass on her sister's dream to Tanjiro since he also has sympathy for demons and Nezuko is a demon.

I think it’s mainly the pacing and not having the plot be cut up into episodes that some people prefer.
Tbf movie's the better option with more scenes as long as you don't count the Taisho secrets and doesn't have some of the faults the arc adds

I disagree with the notion that his placement in the polls has nothing to do with what is essentially meme culture in japan. Adam nailed it. Shinobu tries hard to keep her sister's dream alive through herself but she is exhausted of that facade, she is angry, she is filled with hatred and thats why she was relieved to see someone like her sister in Tanjiro. Her sister dream can go on through him instead. In that regard Sarah did get a good read on her, she is contradictory. Shinobu never shows her true self, it just slips through at times (when she is ruthless and sarcastic) and thats why she is so off putting, both Zenitsu and Tanjiro could pick it up with their hightened senses (hearing and smelling) as well. She is a little menace 💜
Shinobu believes it is impossible to become friends with demons, but she has been trying to do so. At Mt. Natagumo, she offered the female demon conditions for forgiveness of her sins, knowing that the demon would never accept it. And every time she tries, she becomes more and more convinced that it is impossible.
Shinobu hates demons. However, she also wants to fulfill her big sister's dream of "becoming friends with demons." Because of this, she is tormented by the intense contradiction and is tired.
The answer is already given in episode 15.
Shinobu: "I wish demons and humans could get along"
Giyu: "That's impossible, as long as demons eat humans"
The appearance of Nezuko, who does not eat humans, completely overturns this premise.
Shinobu personally hates demons for various reasons. Her big sister had sympathy for the demons. This part makes sense because they're different people.
Since her sister died, Shinobu "inherited" various things from her sister as a coping mechanism (her cloak/haori, her smiles, her outlook on life and specifically the way she treats demons/her dream); this is how she deals with the loss of her sister. It's kind of like "if I carry on with these things, then my sister is still around in some capacity". Is it healthy? Absolutely not. But she doesn't have time to do soul-searching and find a good way to honor her sister's memory while living her best possible life. Shinobu had already committed her life to the endeavor of slaying demons; she no longer has the luxury of living a good life. She will continue to fight until the day she dies. Shinobu struggles to find a way to "save" these demons because that's what her sister wanted to do, i.e. the inherited "dream", but she continues to fail while witnessing their wanton cruelty time and time again. This is why she offered friendship to the spider sister on the mountain but didn't really expect the demon to pull through; Shinobu doesn't really believe that demons are capable of returning the kindness her sister showed them, but she can't allow herself to stop trying to show that kindness in her sister's place either. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Like Adam said, this causes an internal struggle within her. She constantly smiles on the outside (because of her sister) but her true self is constantly revolted by the demons. It's a typical heart vs mind struggle, and it wears her down over time.
You can probably tell that Shinobu is my favorite character. I can really relate to the way she holds onto the memory of her dead sister and ruins her own life as a result of it. It's stupid and it's tragic but it's also... understandable.

kocho said she wanted to be friends with demons on the mountain. remember she said that the way to be friends with demons was for the demons to pay their penance for their sins against humans. she told that demon they could be friends once shes done that and is reincarnated into a good person.
People are free to talk about their dreams and no one has the right to stop them. When a child talks about their dreams, it is a very unfortunate example of an adult to say, "That's impossible, so give up." So no one has the right to stop any dream, and dreams are dreams because they will not come true. The steady effort and logical process to make it come true. Daily tasks. By steadily completing these, your dream will turn into a goal and you will reach it someday. If she says it is a goal, I would feel a little strange. But if it is a dream, I have no complaints. To take over the will of my deceased sister and make it come true. At the same time, to erase the demon that took her sister's life from this world. I will move towards realizing both of these as my dreams. In the midst of all this, I saw Tanjiro who seemed to take over my dream and entrusted my feelings to him. That's all. Personally, I have some doubts about where the responsibility lies, but in Japan 100 years ago, the life expectancy would have been around 50 years old, so there were not many dreams that came true. In that case, entrusting someone to someone is also a Japanese culture, and taking over and protecting is also a Japanese characteristic, so the strangeness will be lessened. It only took Japan about 100 years to modernize, and until recently the people were still walking around with swords, so to people from other countries their mentality may seem strange.

Kocho's sister was killed by a demon, and as such, she has some inherent hatred for demons. It may be not strong enough to just flung her into rage at the sight of just any demon, but it is there deep within and continues to boil. Seeing a demon does reminds her of the fact that her sister was killed by a demon. Yep her persona that she puts up is more or less fake, but even if she wasn't maintaining that sweet face, she would still not be a hate filled monster. Shinobu still is a good person, but with bitterness in her heart. So yes, she did taunt the demon out of that one twisted corner in her heart. Its exactly what she said, she cant find herself to feel pity for them. Her trying to talk sweetly to the demons is just her trying to suppress her hate, but it still seeps out in her words. She is really attached to Tanjiro/nezuko sibling duo, as she had a sister, as such she feels relieved that Tanjiro is doing everything he can for Nezuko and IF nezuko can become a good demon, it would ease up some rage and hate in her heart. You can put it like, she has been poisoned with hate/vengeance/disgust for demons and it is slowly building up the pressure within her, and Nezuko being different would ease the pain a little. It just happens when you hate something a lot, and you see it way too many times, it becomes annoyingly haunting and its not a good feeling.
I think some of the comments of the watch order after this season are a bit confusing, so I'll try to sum it up here. If you have decided to watch the next arc, Mugen Train, in the form of a movie instead of episodes, then watch Episode 1 of Season 2 first. After the Mugen Train Movie, you can continue watching the next arc, Entertainment District, starting from Season 2 Episode 8. Depending on what platform you are using to watching Demon Slayer, they may have already split Season 2 into two parts for you (Part 1 being Mugen Train in the form of episodes, and Part 2 being the Entertainment District arc). From this point on though, you can ignore the other movies that have been released so far and watch the rest of the seasons in order normally (Seasons 3-4).

So the reason that Zenitus and Inosuke gave up because they'd been trying and trying and didn't progress and they didn't know how to progress or what to do to get stronger. Nobody was giving them any tips and tricks. I wasn't training per se. It's just that the 3 little girls took Tanjiro aside and told him what he needs to do. I mean if you're just told to do a thing and you try and try and don't get it, or any hints a normal person would back down. Only someone who has real skin in the game, like Tanjiro who needs to do this for Nezuko, will continue to stay when things get really hard and there isn't any real concrete reason to continue working so hard at a thing you can't do and it chips away at your confidence. Other than having a place (and people) to be for Zenitsu and being stronger for Inosuke there is really nothing much driving these two. Tanjiro knows this and he is trying to figure it out himself before he can teach and motivate them to also get there.
As of now among the three Tanjiro has the strongest motive for sticking with it, quitting is not an option (like it is for some of the corps member because they are just normal people) for him because of Nezuko. So do the Hashira, their motive is the drive to exterminate Muzan who has caused them so much loss and grief.
As for becoming Hashira, I think that is the last thing on Tanjiro's mind. Trying to become a Hashira is not a goal Tanjiro needs right now, because it will be a distraction from his original goal to turn Nezuko back. Becoming as strong as a Hashira to be able to achieve that is his immediate goal not the title itself. But he still needs a lot of guidance from the people around him, including the Hashira, if he is to become as strong as a Hashira. And because he has a goal he is willing to fight and die for, is polite and diligent, he is well liked by everyone and they want to help him. For Zenitsu and Inosuke there is no such drive for people around them to step up and help them be better. And they aren't gonna ask for help.

If we look at it another way Zenitsu and Inosuke didn’t have as much motivation as Tanjiro since Tanjiro’s main motivation was Nezuko

Kocho wants to be friends with Demons but that's after they have been punished for how many humans they'd killed. Remember, the spider sister she killed? So altho she wanted to be friends with them, she just couldn't take the fact they lied to save their butt off and obviously, they won't just stop killing humans.
The Nezuko thing was different. She hadn't taken a chance to assess how many humans Nezuko take but Giyuu stopped her right away.
