Ukai is one of the few coaches in the series who actually DOES frequently change up the rotation for better match ups. Often their starting rotation is based on knowledge of the enemy team, and there are even games where Ukai changes the line up in between sets. It's a big contribution to the team that often goes understated. The manga goes into more detail, but the anime usually at least mentions when it happens. I think Sarah is onto something here about the Hinata/Aone match up in this game being intentional because I wouldn't put it past Ukai.

6:44 one of the best parts about Haikyu is that, no matter who wins or loses, you can’t help but feel for every team. That has become really fun in these last couple of episodes. You see the strengths of the teams, how they match up and what you would do if you were coaching. Makes for some really fun conversations and strategy.
I love how Haikyuu establishes that luck is just part of sports, and that it's REALLY hard to win without getting lucky every now and then. In a lot of other shows it would probably be criticized as being "plot armor" but here it's just something that happens. Karasuno got out to a 3-2 lead but they were literally centimeters away from a 0-5 deficit. They probably would have been totally screwed if that had happened. But they got a couple lucky breaks, and most importantly, they put themselves in position to get those lucky breaks because they didn't shy away from Dateko's formidable blocking. As amazingly epic as that last rally was, for me the most impactful part is everything that happens AFTER the point. Asahi got the kill, but his first reaction is to thank all of his teammates, with Noya telling "What are you talking about? You're the one who scored! Be proud of it!" Suga's genuine joy and celebration from the sideline despite clearly wishing he was on the court, and of course Hinata realizing exactly what Kageyama was talking about when he explained how important the role of the decoy is. Aone is probably the best middle blocker in the prefecture, but at that moment, Hinata had managed to get COMPLETELY in his head.

The "#10" always give me chills. That feeling that someone on the other side of the net (or wherever) is taking special notice of you. I think its even better than when teammates talk you up, because an opponent has no obligation to do so, you know when you realize they're taking you seriously that it is 100% genuine. Good news for Adam is that from here on, you get the more serious matches, which have even more 'moments' than the practice matches and beginning of the season lol Bad news for Sarah is that now that she knows all the story it's going to hit her harder every time something happens than the first time, since the characters didn't mean as much to her that time haha
100% when you are the focus of the other team, you know your feeling it. Such a good feeling to perform at a high level knowing the other team is focused on stopping you.
Adam isnt being sarcastic when he says "sarah's husband" hes being smug xD Sarah's reaction to meeting "one of us" gave me the impression that, this was probably the first time that it really hit home for her that shes actually put together a real community here, kinda made me smile. Its easy to miss how much of an impact you have on people until you see it in person, but yeah, we've always been rooting for you =) And even if you do stop playing, we aint going anywhere ^^ Also... My interpretation of Aone in this episode, is that he had not considered Hinata to be a threat, then he saw 2 attacks from him that he couldnt block. A small middle could spike past him and he suddenly realized he was a monster and a genuine threat not to be underestimated. So when he got that block on Hinata it wasnt just his competitiveness that caused him to yell out, it was respect for Hinatas ability. Like he'd pulled off something amazing by blocking him. His previous blocks on Asahi essentially warranted no reaction because he didnt even consider Asahi to be a threat. The fact that Hinata elicited that reaction was pure respect and I loved it.
I would say that is probably an accurate take. Any time you face a new opponent or a players who has unique ability and you are able to counter that, it's incredibly satisfying. I agree he has Asahi's number and he would expect himself to get those blocks. When you expect something of yourself and you do it, the feeling is not satisfying in the same way.
Yeah this episode was fantastic. Not only the wonderful feels that come from Hinata coming into his own in his role as decoy, because that's a wonderful moment for him. But also that moment is great for Aone. Here is this wall of a person who not only is gifted with a build perfectly suited for volleyball, but also the skill to fully utilize it. You'd expect him to totally write Hinata off. But he has the humility and volleyball IQ to recognize Hinata's impact on the game. He respects him and in that moment FULLY commits and basically says, "No. I **WILL** stop you." It just speaks super well of his character. I've got a lot of love for Aone.
Adam asking about cheering for other teams: It's so amazing that Haikyuu is written so well, that you end up cheering for every team. You can get behind all of their hopes and dreams and root for anyone they face.
Yees!! I was super excited to see what Adam thought of Aone, especially because we all know and love the Sarah x Aone parallels 😋 The reactions to the freak quick in this match were HYPED!! To answer Adam - we all cheer for Karasuno the most because the crows are our TEAM! But I think everyone in the fandom have some favourite characters on other teams too. There's a lot of love for other teams. It's actually a testament to the author again because there are no true "villains" - everyone has a story, everyone is both likeable and flawed in one way or another. We can all appreciate other teams and the characters the boys get to know just like true real life athlete camaraderie, even if at the end of the day we want Karasuno on top.
There were a few characters who at first we didn’t like and did feel somewhat close to villains tho like Washijo sensei and Ushijima their demeanour left us feeling quite annoyed.
I love just how on point Adam is about volleyball developments. He constantly stays ahead of the reveals with barely one look at what's going on. As soon as the quick landed on the ground he was able to pinpoint Date Tech's dilemma.
I think Date Tech is probably the neatest team in the series. I can’t say they’re my favorite, because they don’t have as many memorable characters as the rest of the teams we meet later on. But their slogan, their defensive play style, their fan chant, they’re just the coolest to me.
26:14 is amazing editing This is a great episode and I am loving Adam's breakdowns of the coaching and the plays. His speaking to Kageyama's skills has me excited for certain things to come.
To answer Adam, yes, a lot of us cheer for Karasuno's opponents, in fact I know some people have favorites teams besides Karasuno lol. I cheer for 99% of the teams usually mostly because the chants from every team are contagious, like you can see in the episode. You can even sort them out from your favorite, most energetic and completely annoying lol
The author, Mr. Furudate, worked hard as a middle blocker in high school. Although he did not have a good record, he wanted to play volleyball again in a different way, which is why he drew the manga. My son started playing tennis at the age of 5 and quit after high school. It is hard for both athletes and families to continue playing competitive sports. Your comments are so much deeper than other apparent reactionary youtubers, and I can relate to many of them. You are indeed real athletes. I look forward to more videos from you. I will be cheering for you from Japan.
Aone, the stoic, silent, samurai sentinel... pay close attention to his interactions going forward over the course of this series. He will surprise you in the best way.
Adam is really true to himself. He chose Sarah in life to be his soulmate and Sarah's brother in Haikyuu! to be in his bro-house almost immediately, well, he's almost there. Love your reactions guys. As soon as I'm on my feet again, I'll join the channel to see the episodes as soon as they get out.
I like the translation/interpretation where Hinata says “that point gave me chills” better than “that felt incredible.” Cause in this household of reactions we live for the goose bumps and chills!
@@vedantgupta2145 Its too catchy for its own good. I catch myself saying it while watching reactions to the show, even when Date Tech isn't even in the episode.
Gotta say I'm loving the way we can see Adam falling in love with this show. It kind of felt like he wasn't really into it at the beginning but now he's super invested! Love to see it!
Oh no, I’ve caught up to all of the videos 😭. It was such an amazing experience watching Sarah react to these videos the first time around, but it’s such a treat to watch her and Adam do this together! Sarah gets to be one of us and show someone she cares about, a show she loves, and we get to experience another person falling in love with haikyuu! We get Sarah all excited and smug because she’s finally in on all of what Haikyuu has to offer, plus Adam’s input is so unique and different from Sarah’s because of his different experiences and perspectives. It’s a win win! Thank you guys for doing these reactions! It really makes my day! Much love from New York City!
man, i just want the Adam reaction eps to be out already. I'm FIENDING for these pieces. im glad Sarah gets to experience what we go through with seeing someone go through it for the first time.
Oh man. I forgot just how much kageyama smile in the beginning when everything was new and experimental. Now he's the teacher focusing and creating a system. Thank you for letting me rewatch the show with you guys.
I think the best iron wall would be Sarah, her ‘brother’ Aone and Futakuchi .. I seriously doubt how many players would actually be able to break that wall 😉 Great reaction as always you both ❤❤
This was such a great episode (both the original and the reaction). Aone deserves all the love! This is also (to refer back to a previous episode where Sarah and Adam were talking about the Kageyama-Hinata relationship) one of the places where they really come across as good friends and allies? Like Kageyama's smile at 17:13 and then again right at the end of the episode (the "greatest decoy" moment) --that's not how you communicate with the annoying (but usefully speedy) guy you're saddled with because you're on the same team; that's your *friend*.
I would agree that they are starting to see what they can do for each other, and they have been training and working hard together for a goal. This generally brings people together and helps develop relationships. You start to understand and respect the other person. In this case it's their competitiveness and drive to win and be the best. A respect of the work ethic.
Nekoma and Aoba Jōsai (Seijoh) have a special place for me especially because I appreciate both Kenma and Oikawa’s gamesmanship and feeling for the game. I would say Nekoma definitely is solid so they help their setter the most as we already have seen. Kageyama is amazing but if I was a player, his initial fixation with speed would have probably scared me a lot lol
I’m not a huge Date Tech fan but I always cheer for them when they are playing because they have the best chant. I cheer for them randomly throughout the day when I’m going about my business.
Loveeee adam's reaction to that aone block! Really hyped to see more excitement like that in the future since we're moving past the sort of intro to volleyball stuff and on to seeing more actual match play now 🎉🎉
I cry every time, "#10!" It is so beautiful, and Asahi is able to see the view again 😭 I love how Adam has gotten so comfortable talking about Haikyu. He's in. I don't know how he has the patience to wait for 3 weeks at times to watch Haikyu. I usually binge it in 3 or less 😅 Aone making it to the bro house makes sense. We all love Aone.
Honestly, I'm a Date Tech Fan. Because of their focus on defense. Also Nekoma, because of their focus on the fundamentals.... Yeah, we all have our fave teams outside of Karasuno...
Rare compliments for Kageyama! Love seeing it!❤ I do cheer for other team like Nekoma, I love Kuroo and Kenma. Kuro imo is the best captain other than Daichi. He is a good leader and not afraid to share his knowledge to other younger kids. Kenma is the smartest setter in Haikyuu. In two months we'll have the movie for my two fave teams, Karasuno vs Nekoma, really excited!
Adam getting excited is freakin great lol just WAIT ADAM THE MORE EPISODES YOU REACT THE MORE YOU GONNA GET SO HYPED!! And yes it sucks that like “dang I wanna keep watching it! But I gotta wait” trust me the wait sucks BUT is going to be worth it. 😁✌🏼
Adam has been marinated with all of the set-up. The visceral reaction to the first block leads me to believe we are going to have a long, long journey of hype in our future.
@adamschulz9475 ahaha thanks for the reply. I'm genuinely excited about what you will think from the technicals as well as coaching as they happen. Sarah has blessed us with her insights, but it's also nice having input from, a lack of a better term, someone who gets "the boys." Merry Xmas eve and happy holidays!
For the most part the fandom are Karasuno fans, but there are always exceptions and there are a lot of people whose favorite player is not on Karasuno as well. We all hope Karasuno wins, but getting to meet all of the other players and teams it's really hard not to chant along with their fans and hope the best for them as well.
Inarizaki fan here! But honestly they all are so wholesome, love everyone. And main team is usually is not my favorite in other sports anime, but here i cheer for Karasuno gladly! Kinda just feel happy when someone is happy and sad when someone is sad lmao
To answer Adam's question, we all love Karasuno bc it their perspective but most teams, if not all, were all loved by the community. Some favors other teams other than Karasuno.
6:50 I'd say Karasuno is my third favorite team in the series, Adam hasn't seen the other two in action yet... But (spoilers) Inarizaki and Seijoh are my favorites
League of Legends reference at 32:15. I can only imagine how amazing it would be if Sarah decided to watch "Arcane". Amazing show with lot of great characters, world building, and emotional moments. 9/10 for an animated show based on a game.
Haikyuu has so many different teams, players, and characters that it's inevitable that you start rooting for other teams as the anime continues to develop and deepen the story.
I always want Karasuno to win but oftentimes by the end of a match I find myself wishing there was a way that neither team had to lose. Furudate, the author, just does such a great job of making you empathize with every character so you want to root for them no matter where your loyalties are. (That said tho I’m not sure anyone ever actually wants Karasuno to lose, but I could be wrong)
Just to Say that I love when a character make a very good move and Adam is like... Emotional reaction, exclamation and smile... And we seems the volleyball freak in him, not only hear it.
i start off my fridays watching you two react to haikyuu at breakfast and then i begin my work lol you guys put me in such a good mood and your conversations are always so insightful thanku!
Yes adam, there are fans who cheer for different teams. Even though I like everyone in karasuno, I personally like Seijoh and a certain team in season 4 more 😄 It's not that I don't love them I just found the other teams more relatable. This show makes you want to cheer for the other teams, I'm pretty sure you will get that feeling with a team besides karasuno or you will at least like some of them. Great reaction as always, you guys are the best Haikyu!! reactors ❤☺
one of my favorite things about haikyuu is the premise that EVERY kid playing volleyball is just that -- a kid playing volleyball. there are antagonists (characters whose desires and goals are in conflict with karasuno's), but no true villains. everyone loves volleyball in their own unique way, and everyone wants to win. and that makes it easy to root for other teams, because they're no different from karasuno! just more volleyball idiots. :) i root for karasuno to win the most, but i hate watching any team lose. and many of my favorite characters are on other teams! win or lose, no matter what happens in haikyuu, i know it'll be a very good story. ❤🏐
Great reaction as always! This new reaction made my day!! I love Suga who has a big heart. He knows he is less skilled but still see Kageyama as his junior. Oikawa thinks that Kageyama is just a rival with boggling skill, and he is probably a typical young player aiming higher. I like them both, anyway. It is almost impossible for me to hate teams appear in Haikyuu, but especially love Nekoma, Seijo and the team in Season 4, as well as Karasuno🥰
This episode hits at least as hard for me as episode 16. I just love the whole interaction between the two teams! And having the neighbourhood guys AND the girls team coming to cheer them on, while seeing the new roster for the first time is so great! love Aone and Hinata's war of the middles aswell, they're amazing!
Cant wait for the next episode, and the next, and the next and the next and so on... Because we all know at this point Haikyuu steps on the gas and never lets go!
Fukurodani (the owls) is really hard jot to cheer for and Nekoma. As far as teams that play Karasunp is another team they face in Season 4 that i absolutely love.
I think the name Adam was looking for is Ricardinho. Being a brazilian, i saw him playing A LOT. I think the generation before him was the ones i started watching, With Marcelo Negrão, Giovani, Tande and company. Ricardinho was fucking genius. I still remember when Bernardinho made the change to Bruno. It was CRAZY. It created a bit of buzz, but when Bruno did great and Brasil did super well without Ricardinho, everything went normal again. The "controversy talk" didn't last long.

Yes yes YES!! I have been thinking through all of the other teams, and I would say I am a Nekoma fan
@@SarahPavanVolleyball With Karasuno in the same level, I hope...
There were a few characters who at first we didn’t like and did feel somewhat close to villains tho like Washijo sensei and Ushijima their demeanour left us feeling quite annoyed.
@@ladybookworms, and those people have their stories too
Date tech/Dateko will always have the best fanchant if not the MOST memorable in this series. I always echoed back to them when I heard the chants
GO! GO! LET'S GO! LET'S GO! DATEKO!!
💃💃 GO! GO! LET'S GO! LET'S GO! DATEKO!!💃💃📣📣
26:14 is amazing editing
This is a great episode and I am loving Adam's breakdowns of the coaching and the plays. His speaking to Kageyama's skills has me excited for certain things to come.
🤫 ❤️
@@SarahPavanVolleyball of course, my lips are sealed.
I could watch Adam's reaction to that block 50 times
hahaha
The full-body chills hit so hard whenever I watch Hinata opening the way for Asahi.
IT'S HERE!
GO GO! LETS GO! LETS GO, DATEKO!!!
💃 💃 💃
my favourite chant
The absolute best
@@vedantgupta2145 Its too catchy for its own good. I catch myself saying it while watching reactions to the show, even when Date Tech isn't even in the episode.
27:00 Adam's probably talking about Ricardinho. He was really skilled and fast setter from Brasil.
Gotta say I'm loving the way we can see Adam falling in love with this show. It kind of felt like he wasn't really into it at the beginning but now he's super invested! Love to see it!
16:21 SPOILERS FOR ADAM
I think we just got a glimpse of how his reaction is going to be to a certain block in Season 3
Nah but before that i think he’s gonna love tendou hehe
Adam, we want to adopt all these kids, even the ones not from Karasuno!
I think the best iron wall would be Sarah, her ‘brother’ Aone and Futakuchi .. I seriously doubt how many players would actually be able to break that wall 😉
Great reaction as always you both ❤❤
Oooooohhhh 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
There's a certain future character that I want to add in there and I'm very excited to see their reaction to that character.
LET'S GOOOOO. I've been excited for them to start getting to these serious matches against the big teams. WE'RE LIT
We are far off but I can't wait for Adam to experience the greatest block in the show
Honestly, Aone never left my top 7 Haikyuu favorite character of all time.
Who are the other 6?
@@SarahPavanVolleyball
Hinata

@@hei7846 😏 easy he's in my top 10 along with Kita and Tanaka.
I’m not a huge Date Tech fan but I always cheer for them when they are playing because they have the best chant. I cheer for them randomly throughout the day when I’m going about my business.
Loveeee adam's reaction to that aone block! Really hyped to see more excitement like that in the future since we're moving past the sort of intro to volleyball stuff and on to seeing more actual match play now 🎉🎉
Oh he will be getting sooooo hyped... i know it!!
7:00 Im a Fukrodani fanboy because i LOVE bokuto! But yeah, when he's offscreen, Karasuno's my team!
same bro! I just fallin love with fukurodani and bokuto cross spike
"There's the overload, baby!" Got me HAHAHAHAHA the moment he said earlier that he would do an overload I was excited how he's gonna react
Yesss, Aone getting his due recognition! My favorite. So glad for these reactions, they're so satisfying. Thank you both!
"The greatest decoy" line will ALWAYS get me. And the pipe for Asahi's point is so good!!!
So! Good!!!
Maybe the setter Adam was thinking of is Ricardinho? some here in Brazil think he's the best we've ever had.
I cry every time, "#10!" It is so beautiful, and Asahi is able to see the view again 😭
I love how Adam has gotten so comfortable talking about Haikyu. He's in.
I don't know how he has the patience to wait for 3 weeks at times to watch Haikyu. I usually binge it in 3 or less 😅
Aone making it to the bro house makes sense. We all love Aone.
adam's most love skill blocking, he is gonna love that chapter u know guys ^.^
Honestly, I'm a Date Tech Fan. Because of their focus on defense. Also Nekoma, because of their focus on the fundamentals....
Yeah, we all have our fave teams outside of Karasuno...
Rare compliments for Kageyama! Love seeing it!❤
I do cheer for other team like Nekoma, I love Kuroo and Kenma.
38:00 Sarah, I think your mind's overlapping what *you* thought when u first watched it with what Adam's saying
You could very well be correct 😂
my favourite team is seijoh!! i will always cheer for karasuno but tbh i would be happy to watch seijoh take it to nationals
😒 .... just kidding. No judgment 😊
Lol, same. I would have wanted so bad to see the Seijoh VS Shiratorizawa game too and see their strategy there.
really love your reactions to haikyuu 😢😢😢
Adam has been marinated with all of the set-up.
The visceral reaction to the first block leads me to believe we are going to have a long, long journey of hype in our future.
I watched the reaction back and was actually surprised at how animated I got. That is usually out of character for me, but it was a great play!
@adamschulz9475 ahaha thanks for the reply. I'm genuinely excited about what you will think from the technicals as well as coaching as they happen. Sarah has blessed us with her insights, but it's also nice having input from, a lack of a better term, someone who gets "the boys."
Merry Xmas eve and happy holidays!
@@JihoonJKim I'm looking forward to it as well! Merry Christmas :)
Aone is so cool and this episode is great, glad to see Adam almost jumping out of the chair 🙌🏻
Favourite team Seijoh, Nekoma and owl team 🙌🏽😝
No Karasuno?? I am definitely a Nekoma fan 😻
@@SarahPavanVolleyball loll they used to be my favourite when I first start watching haikyuu 🤣🤣🤣 Yes! kuroo fan!! 🙌🏽
Inarizaki fan here! But honestly they all are so wholesome, love everyone. And main team is usually is not my favorite in other sports anime, but here i cheer for Karasuno gladly! Kinda just feel happy when someone is happy and sad when someone is sad lmao
So Aone is on the porch of the bro house will he make it in next episode and yes Adam praising his boy Suga it was very nice to see
FINALLY 😂
i'm just gonna leave this here . Date tech has one of the most catchy cheers ever . you can even hear it in your sleep
the best comparison I saw a volleball player and coach give for kageyama's setting prowess was Saeid Marouf from the Iranian national team
23:36 Adam’s reaction identical to Sarah’s during her first watch. 😁 “Why didn’t Tsukki jump?? 😡”
To answer Adam's question, we all love Karasuno bc it their perspective but most teams, if not all, were all loved by the community. Some favors other teams other than Karasuno.
Welcome Aone to the Bro House.
Listening to Sarah and Adam's in-depth conversation in this episode somehow makes me feel like my IQ is increasing. 😂
Thanks makes me happy. We love talking volleyball so I'm glad you are getting something out of it!
6:51 ı only have a favorite character out of karasuno and its Oikawa (ı'm sorry sarah xd)
happy birthday best boi kageyama!!!!!! ❤
YOUR COMMENTARY JUST BRINGS SO MUCH ENJOYMENT TO MY REWATCH I AM LIVING!!!!
I am here for all the Aone love! ❤
6:43 no we cheer for each team, it's hard when you don't want anyone to lose 😭
I can see Adam taking Aone in the draft!
Not if I get him first!! 😈
The more I see this episode the more emotional it makes me, it is so incredible to see Asahi finally break through!
After watching this, a video of Sarah-san's block came up so I watched it again and it was amazing.
Sarah-san. I like the sound of that 🥰❤️
FUN FACT
The Nekoma (neko meaning cat) player named Inuoka (inu meaning dog) has a dog like personality
Three weeks without watching haikyuu? I would be rewatching the previous ones like crazy 😅😅😅 I even rewatch some reactions hahaha
When there is a big break between filming I will usually watch our reaction again to make sure I remember everything.
@@adamschulz9475 I just watch again because I can't wait another week to have that much fun🤭 I always leave your reactions with cheeks hurt 😁😆
Like Coach Donnie said, luck has some part it in it but you have to work very hard in volleyball you create your own luck!
This gives me so much happiness! Love all the discussions and seeing Adam fall deeper and deeper into Haikyuu is so satisfying!
He is in DEEP hahaha
That pipe sequence was the moment Hinata realised he his position as the best decoy ever ❤🎉
I’m so excited to see Adam’s reaction when he sees season 3 with Tsuki and Tendo
6:50 I'd say Karasuno is my third favorite team in the series, Adam hasn't seen the other two in action yet... But (spoilers)
Inarizaki and Seijoh are my favorites
I CANNOT WAIT for his reaction to THE scene in ep 18 (if you know, you know). 🤭
Lexter’s gift are so cuute!! I’m sorry I missed ur game in the Philippines. I was actually just in the area that day but I was at work. 😢😢😢😢😢
Dropping the hand into that block was sick
i start off my fridays watching you two react to haikyuu at breakfast and then i begin my work lol
you guys put me in such a good mood and your conversations are always so insightful
thanku!
Yes adam, there are fans who cheer for different teams. Even though I like everyone in karasuno, I personally like Seijoh and a certain team in season 4 more 😄
It's not that I don't love them I just found the other teams more relatable.
i root for karasuno to win the most, but i hate watching any team lose. and many of my favorite characters are on other teams! win or lose, no matter what happens in haikyuu, i know it'll be a very good story. ❤🏐
i cheer for all teams!! 😊
Ah the last part always gets to me. That redemption moment with Asahi still is such impactul volleyball
I also really enjoyed the competition between Anoe and Hinata. A little game inside the game.
The "controversy talk" didn't last long.
the last team they play in the anime (tv show) is my favorite
A legendary Brazilian setter? You mean Mauricio? Who won the first gold medal for us in Barcelona back in 1992? Guys, I’m so proud that you mentioned it!
