Thanks! My 1 handed backhand has improved so much since incorporating this advice. Grew up hitting with a left hander who loved to hit heavy topspin to my 1 hander- even changed to double handed for a while. This tip is pure gold!
One additional focus point that I have had success with as a two-hander is that the contact point MUST be more in front of my body when rolling the left shoulder over. The racket orientation at contact can be nearly vertical. If I am late at all on the contact, directional control is really difficult. I love the mental tips in this video. Recognize your predicament but HANDLE IT. Don't panic. Nice video, thanks for posting.
Using a semi western grip on my one-handed backhand helped me play the high ball a lot better too, i think it will assist in easier rotation of the right shoulder too. I used to rotate with my elbow a bit, but i think now i should start focusing on rotating the shoulder. Great tip, thanks a ton !
While I enjoy your videos very much I would love to see your tipps embedded in acutal footage of playing to be able to understand even better what you are talking about.
I use to roll the shoulder and it works to a certain degree. If your opponent is real good, this could be endless. My solution is nearly the same stroke except I swing through the ball and I drive it downwards. it's like hitting a high flat shot. I do rollover on the forehand side and I haven't figured out how to hit a very high flat shot on that wing.
If you’re talking about high forehand, I would recommend preparing high, driving horizontally, hold racquet closer to full western to keep racquet handle more horizontal through contact to get topspin instead of sidespin, hitting with lag, release and more in front than you normally hit. If you use a close to a western grip you can also drive the ball with the same grip in your SHBH! Try it.
I find that confusing as well ... however if your arm is straight and you are doing the windshield wiper thingy - for one hander - than i believe u are on the right track - pardon pun
"Roll the shoulder" cue is a bit confusing. Perhaps best to also use biomechanical terms. I take it to mean use shoulder external rotation into the shot, rather than just horizontal shoulder abduction. images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/55a9457de4b0e82a7749b6d3/3992a131-4461-45e3-b91b-5aacb8ad6e0e/PAUSE_0133_C.png images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/55a9457de4b0e82a7749b6d3/3992a131-4461-45e3-b91b-5aacb8ad6e0e/PAUSE_0133_C.png

This is great lesson, all players have this problem if you have 1 hander. even Federer had this problem for a long while especially against RAFA
It's a solution I never thought I'd find. What a joy to be free from the trap.

Another tip is also having the racket face more closed so the ball travels more down the rather having it go up
This look promising. Once my rhs shoulder becomes a bit stronger (injury), I'll definitely be testing this on my 1HBH topper. Thanks!

Great lesson. Thank you!
Splendid! I could not agree more.

Hi.
Sorry, I deleted this video by accident.
And the only way I can get it back online is by re posting.
@@oneminutetennis , as long as I'm not imaging things. Of course, your repost doesn't eliminate that possibility...
Roll your shulder thing is bit confusing though.
