Lily Cole On Eco-Activism | The Extra Mile With Edward Enninful | British Vogue & BMW

When Lily Cole, former British Vogue cover star turned eco-activist and author, first started researching the climate crisis in her teens almost 20 years ago, she was “baffled that it wasn’t a big conversation.” Now, the world is finally catching up. Why? “Because it’s real,” she tells British Vogue Editor in Chief Edward Enninful in the latest video in The Extra Mile series in partnership with BMW. “Because we’re waking up.” In 2019, Cole published her book ‘Who Cares Wins’, a handbook of sorts for how to help halt the continued destruction of the planet. What are the personal changes she has made? “I’m predominantly vegan, I have an electric car, I’ve reduced my travel massively and I offset when I do,” she says. “I’ve tried to change my attitude to stuff. I really love having less. There is, she says, reason to be optimistic. “We have the power to choose something better. And what inspires me is that most people care.”

Lily Cole, definitely not an activist for hire, talking about climate change, sponsored by a company that makes climate change worse. Literally advertising driving in central London. Entirely avoiding talking about all the actual causes of climate change, and choosing to talk about individual choice isn't activism.

I don’t know who this is but she offered nothing on eco activism. I think before diving into activism you need to really educate yourself in that field and become an expert…heaps of misinformation about individual change that does nothing really…
