Legendary Freeblade ability was modified on Balance Dataslate. He can use any strategem at 1cp less cost.
23:00 Mordian, little update on that, Supper heavy walkers can now barge through terrain, if it (or the relevant segment) is 4 inch they just ignore it, anything bigger they roll a d6 after and on a 1 the model is battle shocked
@@scottdevnull5778 honestly that is something to keep in mind for objectives but other than that battle shock isn't the worst thing to happen there compared to say 1d3 mortal wounds for instance. It does mean using the free stratagem ability becomes a problem though.
Sir Hekhtur is an unfortunate name given the current meme sweeping social media this last week 🤣. Spit on that thang!
You fucked my name hahaha
What meme? It appears I have been sleeping under a rock again

One thing I would suggest, now that big guard tanks can't get lethal hits, is the knight castelan, its effectively a shadowsword + leontus order + tech priest all in one with a slightly worse main anti tank gun (d3 shots instead of d3 +1 but slightly higher average damage and the ability to swing into one hits), but with better seccondaries, and with the knight rules its easier for it to find targets and move around.
I agree completely ! used a castellan in tts last week and MAN it’s actually so slept on. Being a +2 with 13 is also so much tankier than a normal questoris ! Volcano AND a plasma decimator gives it huge flexibility in spreading its fire to the best targets too
@@PhaseConnectpilled I do, but if I did play guard castelan would be the knight I sneak into the list.
He can also Koolaid-man through walls now. ;D

He is very much a glass cannon. I’ve found if you start him on the board and send him Into the fray he will die very easy. If you bring him in from reserves after your opponent is already depleted he will clean up.
Man I haven’t played a game of 40k yet but I love watching your stuff 🥲😂
I'm a primarily imperium player, and I don't collect 2k of armies, I collect 1.5k and just take canis rex and usually does very well!
If only there was a way that Canis could make his D6 number of shots more consistent. Perhaps through a free use of command re-roll or something.
Canis is a fucking beast, imperial factions always rely on him when gw fucks up their codex (it happened with mechanicus and custodes)
8:07 but hell hounds gets rid of that cover, so it's still counts
As a knights player I was suspicious of canis Rex when I first saw him, then every time I shot or fought he blew me away with the consistent sustained hits getting thrown all over the place. I prefer the knight lancer because I think it’s cooler, has 3 more wounds, 4 inches extra movement, and a permanent 4+ invuln. Canis does feels amazing to play when you swing 5 times, hit all of them and sustain on top of that in melee.
Also his free stratagem is once per TURN, not once per round adding even more to his consistency.
Titanic Charecters can do free actions with Piraha nexux missions correct?
I have ran canis rex alot, he is good. And i have fought against him, he can be taken down easier than a baneblade. No problems good stats

Me with my baneblade and imperial knight finished in my cabinet, and my 2nd night still in the box and 2nd baneblade still in the post: Why not just have multiple of both?
Great video, Mordian, as always. Now the rest of the freeblades, please 😊😊😊
Nope , Baneblade all day every day, anything less shames us Sir !
I was at a tournament and I had a single guardsmen block a choke point Canis needed to charge through to get my tank.
Sounds like that image of the other Ollanius Pius standing off against Angron
Before the last dataslate I'd imagine
I prefer the knight paladin
Would you get the Super Heavy Walker rule when allied since it is a Faction rule
Yes, definetly. Army rules aren't lost with allied units. Heck you can ally them because of their freeblade rule. Compare the descriptions of Code Chivalric to Freeblades and you'll get what I'm saying. Code chivalric specifies that your factionmust be imperial knights for it to work
Mordian, check out the Lancer. IMO it's far superior to Canis
I personally like the Lancer better, especially with the recent point drop. The new tank shock rules sorta hurt, but it's still very viable.
They changed his ability its now any stratagem is reduced by 1
also sup[er heavy walkers can walk through any terrian
my friend brought this with his SoB against my guard once, i got turn one and wiped it off the board with my vanquiser and demolisher tank commander getting some nice rolls. felt a little guilty ngl. havent seen canis rex since.
Such is the way with all set pieces I suppose.
Sadly, due to the faction keyword it looks like an Enginseer can't give him the invul save and D3 wounds.
Canis is stronger for his points than any other big knight, but they're all fragile for 400+ points. There needs to be killy ones for it to be worth playing anything but armiger spam. Bring balanced shooting and they go down just fine. Dont and you'll get spanked just as hard by ironstorm or guard tank hammer as you did by knights. Knights arent the only skew around. Never have been, never will be.
Doesn't the free strat mean you can always re-roll your D6 shots?
I believe so.
Ive been flirting with getting one of these for my guard....
Do it.
The guard will rule the galaxy.
❤
...ranged weapon is amazing. Because it's a backup gun. This ain't no ranged weapon platform, son. Get up in there! If you have to wait to get in range... would you rather plink at them with a reliable piece of garbage? Or would you rather roll the dice at not just a big slam to the foe... but a likely one?
Just count on it doing nothing useful like you are used to. Again, it's just what you're doing until you get that glove around their throat. Let the guard deal with the fiber details.
CANIS REX CANIS REX!
DOG KING DOG KING
PERRO REY PERRO REY
Maybe I'm being picky here. The probability of exactly 5 successes from 5 six sided dice showing a 2+ is 0.4. The chance of rolling 5 passes is not that high. The probability of at least 4 is much higher, at 0.8. And you're unlucky if you roll less than 3 successes.
I would be expecting to roll some ones over a game though. Although I didn't calculate expectations.
I know this is picky, but it's impotent if you're trying to understand what you're success rate will be.
I'm not trying to high and mighty here. So if you think these numbers are wrong, please let me know.
I just used the probability distribution for the binomial. And I'm assuming perfectly weighted dice, which may or may not be the case.
This is bad habits from playing too much blood bowl........
I didn't check the conditional probabilities related to invulnerability saves of a 5+. But this could a fun exercise.
I'm enjoying your videos! Keep up the good work!
Canis Rex as ally for the Guard is a waste of points; a Cerastus Lancer is more valuable just because of its inbuilt 4++ and 14 move. Canis Rex is just too slow and less durable, if it doesn't die outright from enemy shooting it dies in melee against élite melee infantry units. As ally it also doesn't benefit from Knights's Oath and fnp 6+ detachment rule.
It's suboptimal but I wouldn't call it a waste of points. Canis has been on the lowest end of viable as an ally for a long time, but still viable. Every time an imperial codex has bad win rates and is lacking a big punchy distraction, people start showing up with him.
You can get tournament wins with him, which is probably impossible if you took that many points in truely bad units.
Hard countered by Tau though. Against melee armies he can usually hit first and take out 200-300 points (shooting and melee), get counter punched to oblivion, then you light up whatever killed him. It's not horrible.
@@justinmsc5 but in fact, if i want add a Knight ally i would choose a Lancer; It's self sufficient and does the same work of CR but with more chances of longer survival, the longer it stays the longer my opponent headache lasts😄. And It costs just 5 points less. The lack of firepower in comparison isn't that big of a problem, CR can kill in most cases 2-3 infantry models at best with its pulse laser, nothing to write home about. The 4++ against all of a Lancer and CR 5++ against shooting Is the real big deal.
@@alessiogiuffrida6172 Yea. That's what suboptimal means. There are better choices.
435 PTS isn't cheap for a 3+ armr save. Durabillity wise, he's not that far from a rogal dorn with ablative plating.
Nobody said it was cheap.
One day I will print one!🤙👍🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑
U need super heavies to stop knights period 🧐
You really don't. Just decent normal scale Anti-tank.
Seeing as this is an Allies vid, I'm going to say something unpopular; im hoping that the Deathwatch gets sacked as a standalone faction, or unit option for just Space Marines, and gets rolled into a book of Allies & Agents. Even compared to Astartes, as I see them, DW don't take too the field in strength; a Kill Team is a squad, or two, and helps a standing force, and I would love to see "a squad of Space Marines", maybe with an Inquisitor, take to the field wirh Guard, and give them an assault option. They refuse to make them good, so maybe make them a good oprion for others, instead?
As for Canus Rex, im glad to see him being decent, and a good Ally for forces to field. Im not as keen on IKs as a whole force, unto themselves, and it feels more like an asset seconded to an army, which he is here. Definitely strong, and I am a fan, though it does surprise me that the overall Imperium doesn't just force their compliance, and make them work within Guard structure, which they can then plan various battles around having. Still, glad they, and he, are options.
Dumb side question. I know this channel can often lean on the side of Tech Priest Engineseers arent worth it, and don't take them, even though they seem a decent thing, standing behind a long range tank, keeping it topped off, but if you did have one, could it repair Rex, or another Knight, while they hang back, and shoot, before they've marched off to melee? Can they only fix "Astra Militarum" (Imperial Guard) tanks, or can an allied Knight also get Wounds replaced? Just curious.
Must be "Astra Militarum Vehicle" in the engineers ability keyword.
@@striderfox71 Sad face. Can't say it surprises, and it does totally make sense, but it I'd too bad.
Knights don't belong in a regular game....my 3 cents...
your a coward
I have a knights army and find walking through buildings very intriguing
Games Workshop had done a lot of work to ensure that Knights work just fine in regular games, and frankly they've pretty much pulled it off for the last couple of editions. If Knights don't belong in regular games at this point, there are a lot more factions that need to be worried as well.
Agreed. Just like flyers they have no place.
Questoris Knights being a 3+ save is what lets them belong in normal games. If they were 2+ it would nullify almost every balanced army list, but 3+ lets infantry guns have a chance to deal actual chip damage to them
