I am a 4 year user I went from the G7 to the G9 and now have the S5. If you can get off of the autofocus crutch and take full control of your camera the lumix is the best camera out there especially considering price.

I would say, if it is a new camera, the GH5-II has so many details that are improved, it doesn't make sense to get a GH5 for just a little bit less. The larger number of custom profiles, the AF-S in VFR mode before recording, external USB charging - I made a list with 25 improvements that are worth something for a lot of use cases (and finally got the GH6). I think the new GH5 is questionable with this little difference.

I used to put a Laowa 17mm on my G9 and shoot 6k video on my G9 and it looked amazing in low light. If you keep a camera lomg enough to learn it only then can you actually know it's capabilities. Too many get caught up in the latest and greatest and never learn how to use their camera.

I have a decent collection of µ4/3 lens, and as Ryan Harris states, the GH5 is more than capable for 80-90% of users. The GH5II is just a bit more, with future possibilities for updates. The G9 and the GH5II are basically the same camera, only one has more stills features and the other video.
Now, with a GH4, GH5, and a GH5II, I am able to to have multiple cam setups. Plus if I need more angles, it is more economical to pick up another GH5/S/II or G9. Compared to other systems, the cost to own the equivalent of what I have now would have cost double or triple…

@@mylessheehan4871 you actually put it in 6k mode like taking a photo and hold the shutter down like your doing a burst. Their are several tutorials on it to show exactly.

GH5II all the way, mainly because it will be able to accept firmware updates the GH5 will not. The original GH5 however, will go on to be a legendary camera as it will still be used years from now…

What do you mean with pictures are not so good with the gh5? I own a gh5 and use it for photography, i cant see a big enough quality difference compares to full frame pictures to justify this statement. What is better in full frame pictures ? Because i dont see it. I edit a lot of mft and full frame photos so i know what i am talkimg about. Yes full frame is better in low light but real photographers lit their scene. I bet 95 % of all people cant see a difference

The G9 is also excellent and worth a look depending on your needs. The main weaknesses of the G9 are the 30 minute record limit (10 min for 4k), fewer codecs and fewer video specific controls. Otherwise, as mentioned elsewhere, it is better in most other ways including for photos.
@@Democratiser Cheers Luke! I've definitely considered the G9 as well as it looks fantastic for video and photo...though the 4k record limit puts me off not gonna lie! Lumix cameras overall for the win though right? 😅

@@DHShields cheers Derek. Yes they offer amazing bang for buck and are in my view underrated solely because of below par CAF in video. I have a Canon 5D III to cover off on the FF duties but it is big, heavy and a source of public humiliation for my teenage kids when I take it out in public with them! So the G9 and MFT generally is a better compromise!
@@Democratiser That's so interesting Luke! The 5d mark 3 is incredible but hearing that it's often too heavy and cumbersome can often defeat the purpose of discreet video/photography. I've always been a Lumix man myself but I'd be lying if I didn't have a little camera envy for canon's autofocus and Sony's low light! Laughing at your kids being embarrassed at your canon, that's hilarious 😅

Thanks! I own the GH5 but with no Log, and I am thinking about selling it to buy the GH5mkII because the MkII has the log already, but I don't know, Panasonic should give the Log for free for the GH5 at this point! Wow, let me think, opinions welcome! Thanks
