    I am a private pilot, A&P, IA but know very little about ag aviation except for watching them fly here in the desert. Because of the summer heat, usually at night. They have the planes lit up like the sun. Turning the lights on for the run and off for the turn. They must have an STC for a couple big alternators, batteries, and a number of very bright lights on a separate circuit from the landing and taxi lights. Thank you. Very cool.

      That would be amazing!! There is a guy up there that flys an 802 and fills the hopper with fuel. He delivers the fuel to villages and towns. I’ve seen some of his stuff on FB and he flys along the rivers. It’s incredible.

    In one forward shot,the sun seems to be causing some glare,,has to be dangerous in the morning and evening...
    If there's a question here,,I guess it's this,, do u leave east and west facing fields alone during those hours,? Or just go the other way when possible?

    • @AgAviationAdventures
      @AgAviationAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      That’s a great observation. If I can avoid not running into the sun I will. If I have more then one field to chose from I’ll pick ones that I can run north to south. I do have a tinted visor I can flip down that helps immensely. Most of the time you just can’t avoid it.

    Hi Tyson. You mentioned on the video, that you rather not fly through the dispensed product, so does that mean that, normally you would always prefer to do your swaths towards an upwind direction? How do you work out the direction of spray? Also does it make a difference to spray in the direction of the plantation rows, or perpendicular to the rows? Keep up the fantastic work. Fly safe!

    • @AgAviationAdventures
      @AgAviationAdventures  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching. Yes I work upwind of my last pass so I’m not flying through anything. It can be easier to line up on your pass when you have rows to look at but I’ll run a field in any direction depending on obstacles that are around it. If I have a choice I prefer to run with the rows.

    I remember when a lot of the ag planes had a toilet paper launcher (not sure the correct name) on the right wing close to the fuselage. Pilot would hit the button and voila, a whole toilet paper on the farmers field.

    Is the oil that is sprayed into the exhaust from the engine system? or does it come from a separate reservoir for "smoking" purposes only?

    Is it the same kind of oil they use in air shows or is it a different kind of oil since you guys are around crops? I know that stuff can leave a thin film of oil on the things it lands on. I don’t know if it would harm the plants or not. It is a type of mineral oil I doubt it would I’m just not sure.
