I took a Break from UA-cam, 20 Months later, I still haven’t returned. I loved creating and miss it, but it was all the other resources that being a creator consumed that wasn’t worth it, IMO. Life is way too short. Best of Luck to you.
I’ve seen a number of people turn YT into a full time job and then it takes over your life. It can easily burn you out and you should take a break and do videos you want as a side gig and enjoy your time instead of being a slave to it because it will take all the joy out of what you enjoy doing

Scott, you have identified the perfect plan. I know because it's what I do. At 67 I am retired and my partner, husband, still works from home. I travel two weeks a month during the hot months as we live in Palm Springs and enjoy cooler weather northwide. Glad you have a plan for the future. Look forward to your return. I've noticed that most national parks either only allow service dogs or have a weight limit on the dogs. When Gumbo is done growing he will weigh between 160-188 pounds. He goes with me everywhere because I am his emotional support human. I thought he would be emotional support for me, but someone somewhere flipped that script. As always, you and Kyle are loved. You are the first vanlife channel I ever watched and the deciding factor in which van I have decided on. And I still want Kyle to come decorate my dad's house, because yikes! Lol. Your channel is a very positive and always fun to watch. Unfortunately, you are right. The people putting out endless negative videos are growing like crazy. It is almost comical to see how the doomsday guys walking around with a camera on a stick spreading negative thoughts are growing all the time and they are of course putting out 2-3 videos a day. With over 40K subscribers I had no idea how little one could make on youtube. It's hard to justify disrupting your life and making investments in equipment and your van to make what one could make working a 9 to 5 at Walmart. (But I thank you for bringing us so much joy and entertainment with your videos even if you don't get the compensation you deserve.)
When someone passes away the world changes, it's a whole new world without them. You have to build a new life. The good thing about taxes is it forces you to look at what you did, we avoid really assessing our lives in cold-blooded finances but it helps to see what the end result of your efforts are. Enjoy life without worrying about editing, sound, etc..,
You do whatever brings you joy… Do not worry about all other people… You’re on this earth to find yourself to find love within yourself to enjoy life… If what you’re doing is not 100% enjoyable… Then go find your Bliss!

I think you can get more with less. Watchers time is shrinking so only key topics of interest are being watched with the least time so stop repeating the same note to shorten the video length. I pick the shortest length videos that have the best description on a topic of need too or I pass on watching. I don't have time to watch a video to see if it has any importance for me. This is not criticism on your channel just how I pick what I watch. Only so many free hours & I have many interest. How many viewers can watch all your monthly postings? So you may be doing too much.
Dang. I just picked up my own RV. I was hoping to run into you along the road (I'm not full time, just a few weeks every now and then) I'm a YT creator as well. I understand the grind, and the need for a break. I watch so many people in my niche churn out video after video. I never did that, wanting to concentrate on quality over quantity. We all have so many monthly subscriptions...I just paid my $3.00 Apple sub for more storage, and that's only one of many. Maybe consider a $5.00 monthly or even a $3.00 monthly. Most of us don't blink at a $3.00 sub.... good luck Scott.
Thanks for the update Scott. I’m a bit older than you and have been fortunate to travel the country in my 59KL. I have really enjoyed your videos over the years. You are a wise man. Society is ever changing, ever evolving and UA-cam is a reflection of that. Vanlife today is not the attraction it was 5-10 years ago; it is understandable it’s time to make a shift in direction. You have a lot of life experience and have been all over the country,,,maybe you will become a travel consultant. Someone who can provide not only great information on destination cities, but inject your personal life experience visiting those cities. What a great resource you must be. Life is a book Scott, it has many chapters and the next one for you is yet to be written,,,make it a good one. I look forward to reading it.

I could tell something was really wrong during this past winter, especially one time when you left a big show a bit early. Thank you so much for sharing all the difficult hard to share stuff. Some people and some organizations think that they are the only ones entitled to make all the money while guys like you who are extremely clever and bright and absolutely loaded with bright ideas work for nothing more than peanuts and nobody gives a care about working with you to really increase your income. I am very sorry about your having to see work you way through emotional grief from losses of those you love and care for because that is no easy feat. First of all... we feel you! As you know we do mostly travel style videos and our results are almost identical to yours. More views but less $$. A downward trend that seems to not be recovering. Your decision is a hard one but good for you for making it. Your health and happiness is worth more than anything else. And know this... Lynn and I are here for you. Take a trip up here to the mountains and we'll show you around. It's gonna get hot there. 🤣. Enjoy your time. Enjoy the moments of where your feet are right now. Scott, best of luck to you. I think you've made a great decision to pivot to a travel channel. You know, it's impossible to please everyone, but, you have to look out for yourself and follow your instincts. I've really enjoyed your channel and upbeat presentations. A lot of very positive work, kudos. Yes, I can certainly appreciate why you need a break and change from what you've been doing. Why not go part time? You'll have more time with your partner and you can pursue what you love instead of being a slave to the channel, which I imagine is very demanding. Finally, you might want to trade, upgrade or switch out your van because of the way you've used it 24/7...? I don't know, these vehicles have a finite life like all of us and it might be advantageous to get a new vehicle if that's even possible? I'll be looking to see what you'll be suggesting in August on your travel channel. My wife and I travel part time and all across the USA. We have more than one residence and travel nationally. We love National and State Parks. If you haven't been to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, I highly recommend it. Safe travels. --- Mark

You're not alone in this. I follow some crafting creators and they are having issues like this, as well. And some are dealing with a lot of crass comments that they have to spend too much time in weeding out. Society is not kind, these days. I'm an avid hobby photographer and have been volunteering to shoot photos for some of our community clubs (I live in a Sun City community) and I've burned out of it and, now that I've done it for a while, getting input that is as if they know more or more critical on what I do. Yep...time to pull out at least for a while.
Scott, this may sound over the top, but after listening to you, I realized that UA-cam was something I don’t want to chase. Yes, I have writing tips for authors, but I’m not going to post on a regular schedule. You also helped me rethink my priorities in life as I have upcoming total knee replacement on Monday. Now isn’t the time for me to build a following, but to write more books, help other authors, travel and find joy with my husband as we take adventures. I wish you the best.

But seriously Scott it means nothing right now..Your mental health and personal well-being is so much more important. Anyone who loves and cares about you will certainly agree. Sorry to say Scott but you look very stressed now in this video. I'm concerned enough to be up this late to write the longest comment I have ever written about anything ever, I would have send it privatly if I knew how to do that. I've often wondered the few times we've seen Kyle,that if this is somebody you love, care about ?why isn't he with you more? It is a workaholic I know the answer to that.Also I too lost my family recently plus several good friends to pandemic and dementia. Also just retired from a lifetime of being self-employed. and in the public eye earning more money than anyone I know. But Scott that means nothing really ! I've taken hardly any vacations because of my ill parents, Motorsports business ,friends,ect, but mostly because somebody always needed me, helping with $$ or their children going down the wrong path or a bed to sleep in. But now I have to leave and find myself and keep my mental health intact as well, maybe even a relationship again, whatever the plan is for me. So I'm just going to relax and do things I haven't been able to do in such a long time. Life is short with no guarantees and changes can happen unexpected at any moment. But I do know that spending lost time with your family and someone that you love it's the best medicine. Without that there is very little. Scott you've made your mark in this world 101% and we're all grateful for what you've done, and you've done so much ! But seriously man when is enough going to be enough ? You don't owe any explanations and you certainly don't have to apologies to anyone. Your loved by millions and we're all going to be here for you no matter what you do. Scott agree with you the income vs effort equation not in sync.... Life can or is black and white at times. $ 23k for your effort on you tube is not a good investment of your time. Umless you are Van Gogh or Mozart and are doing this for the art form I would stop and re think this journey...................................
We thought of you Scott the other day when we drove by Winnebago RV this last Friday on our route to Colorado, of course being chased by three tornadoes in Iowa. We have been full-timing since 2008 and have had 8 RVs in total, so lots of changes over time. RVing has allowed us to spend time with my parents, grandparents, & in-laws for their final days as well as having visited 36 states while workamping & camp hosting in many states. Each year travel seems to be more weather related, maybe because we are getting older & are not as physically young as we once were. We hope to keep RVing, but doing less working & more fishing, ham radio, & gold panning. Hope to see you back on when you reclaim your energy & enthusiasm. Cheers, David & Sheila Knapp

Some people and some organizations think that they are the only ones entitled to make all the money while guys like you who are extremely clever and bright and absolutely loaded with bright ideas work for nothing more than peanuts and nobody gives a care about working with you to really increase your income. I am very sorry about your having to see work you way through emotional grief from losses of those you love and care for because that is no easy feat. First of all... we feel you! As you know we do mostly travel style videos and our results are almost identical to yours. More views but less $$. A downward trend that seems to not be recovering. Your decision is a hard one but good for you for making it. Your health and happiness is worth more than anything else. And know this... Lynn and I are here for you. Take a trip up here to the mountains and we'll show you around. It's gonna get hot there. 🤣. Enjoy your time. Enjoy the moments of where your feet are right now. Scott, best of luck to you. I think you've made a great decision to pivot to a travel channel. You know, it's impossible to please everyone, but, you have to look out for yourself and follow your instincts. I've really enjoyed your channel and upbeat presentations. A lot of very positive work, kudos. Yes, I can certainly appreciate why you need a break and change from what you've been doing. Why not go part time? You'll have more time with your partner and you can pursue what you love instead of being a slave to the channel, which I imagine is very demanding. Finally, you might want to trade, upgrade or switch out your van because of the way you've used it 24/7...? I don't know, these vehicles have a finite life like all of us and it might be advantageous to get a new vehicle if that's even possible?
I'll be looking to see what you'll be suggesting in August on your travel channel. My wife and I travel part time and all across the USA. We have more than one residence and travel nationally. We love National and State Parks. If you haven't been to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, I highly recommend it. Safe travels. --- Mark

I don’t know why you did not make over 100, 000 subscribers but it is not because you did not do it well I learned so much and you tackled some great van issues. Take a break for sure. You're not alone in this. I follow some crafting creators and they are having issues like this, as well. And some are dealing with a lot of crass comments that they have to spend too much time in weeding out. Society is not kind, these days. I'm an avid hobby photographer and have been volunteering to shoot photos for some of our community clubs (I live in a Sun City community) and I've burned out of it and, now that I've done it for a while, getting input that is as if they know more or more critical on what I do. Yep...time to pull out at least for a while.
Scott, this may sound over the top, but after listening to you, I realized that UA-cam was something I don’t want to chase. Yes, I have writing tips for authors, but I’m not going to post on a regular schedule. You also helped me rethink my priorities in life as I have upcoming total knee replacement on Monday. Now isn’t the time for me to build a following, but to write more books, help other authors, travel and find joy with my husband as we take adventures. I wish you the best.

But seriously Scott it means nothing right now..Your mental health and personal well-being is so much more important. Anyone who loves and cares about you will certainly agree. Sorry to say Scott but you look very stressed now in this video. I'm concerned enough to be up this late to write the longest comment I have ever written about anything ever, I would have send it privatly if I knew how to do that. I've often wondered the few times we've seen Kyle,that if this is somebody you love, care about ?why isn't he with you more? It is a workaholic I know the answer to that.Also I too lost my family recently plus several good friends to pandemic and dementia. Also just retired from a lifetime of being self-employed. and in the public eye earning more money than anyone I know. But Scott that means nothing really ! I've taken hardly any vacations because of my ill parents, Motorsports business ,friends,ect, but mostly because somebody always needed me, helping with $$ or their children going down the wrong path or a bed to sleep in. But now I have to leave and find myself and keep my mental health intact as well, maybe even a relationship again, whatever the plan is for me. So I'm just going to relax and do things I haven't been able to do in such a long time. Life is short with no guarantees and changes can happen unexpected at any moment. But I do know that spending lost time with your family and someone that you love it's the best medicine. Without that there is very little. Scott you've made your mark in this world 101% and we're all grateful for what you've done, and you've done so much ! But seriously man when is enough going to be enough ? You don't owe any explanations and you certainly don't have to apologies to anyone. Your loved by millions and we're all going to be here for you no matter what you do. You Tube is really hard and extremely time consuming and opportunity consuming. I really appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos. I have an itty bitty channel (different channel name) that I started, so recognize the huge amount of investment of your soul that goes into a channel.

Scott agree with you the income vs effort equation not in sync.... Life can or is black and white at times. $ 23k for your effort on you tube is not a good investment of your time. Umless you are Van Gogh or Mozart and are doing this for the art form I would stop and re think this journey...................................

We thought of you Scott the other day when we drove by Winnebago RV this last Friday on our route to Colorado, of course being chased by three tornadoes in Iowa. We have been full-timing since 2008 and have had 8 RVs in total, so lots of changes over time. RVing has allowed us to spend time with my parents, grandparents, & in-laws for their final days as well as having visited 36 states while workamping & camp hosting in many states. Each year travel seems to be more weather related, maybe because we are getting older & are not as physically young as we once were. We hope to keep RVing, but doing less working & more fishing, ham radio, & gold panning. Hope to see you back on when you reclaim your energy & enthusiasm. Cheers, David & Sheila Knapp
