*Attention* I see some people subbing to the channel from this video which is great! However, please understand that I *no longer do* game play videos but provide content on the history of military aviation (operations, planes etc). It's pretty awesome and you should stick around for that ;)
Military Aviation History just curious, what is your background? Do you teach? Your knowledge of the war and even little known facts are unsurpassed in my opinion and love the gameplay, just wish they would make something like this for PS4, also, I'm relatively new to your channel and just wondered if these games try to be historically accurate in regards of troop movements and frontlines?

Here I am bouncing all over an airfield on most of my landing attempts when there's clear skies and not a bogey in sight, and then there's geezers like you who put a plane down smooth as fuck while all you can see is a shitton of oil sprayed all over the cockpit and potential damage to your controls. #NotJealousAtAll
In all seriousness, nice video and nice flying. I am really fond of the TAW concept, but I'm not really good enough a simulator pilot to make much a difference when I'm online. But hey, practice. Also, there's one thing I like to see changed and that is the ability to join a flight as gunner. I think it's a nice option to make players more invested into bombing runs as well as a nice feature in the spirit of TAWs teamplay and the fact that it allows for amateurs like me to get to know the aircraft a bit better while still being useful.

TAW is pretty much the only thing that keeps me interested in BoS currently. I really like the server's concept.

Almost 2000 aircraft destroyed on the ground and in the air in a single day. High command was in disbelief, believing that such a devastating strike was even possible in even the most favorable conditions. A feet that may never be duplicated.
This is exactly what i'm picking up next. Incredible looking game.

Gotta say Bismarck, I have been playing this game for some time now and it is all that I wanted and more. its fun, entertaining and thanks to some mistakes, some hard learned lessons and your videos I have been able to leave my lovléy JU88 and squize myself into a 109 and I love it. still no good kills and still making som mistakes, but yeah its awesome.
I want to personaly thank you for taking your time to make these videos and to keep encouraging (how is that spelled?) us to fly.
I hope we will one day see eachother in the skies, and hopefully you will be my escort and not my adversy. but If you are, I will do my best to give you a hard time.

But how do you guys make of the 109 a god? I can't do shit with my 109 (any of 'em.) In IL2 1946, the enemy always manages to run, to outrun, out turn, etc.
National Socialist Gabriel it's just a tool use it correctly
The 109 basically is a God compared to the early war Soviet aircraft, and more or less competitive with prop fighter models of the same year until the end of the war, with a few exceptions.
The point is to use it's strengths, and for example don't try to turn with a Spitfire or Yak, it's a waste of time. Swoop down on them, shoot and keep going.

Idk if my eyes, monitor, UA-cam compression or all three combined but I couldn't see anything in the clouds and a few seconds after that. The plane just poped up in the middle of the crosshair as it flew over the brighter background. When I pause it as he is flying above the dark trees I can kinda see something there with full screen and my eyes like 10cm from the monitor.

I would love to fly with you some day. I used to play IL-2 Sturmovik when it first came out. Now I only have a laptop, no HOTAS anymore, no TrackIR; so not really the best technical prerequesites for flying- but I think I still make a good gunner / bomber guy / navigator. What would I need softwarewise to be able to join in with you? Is it just IL-2:BoS or any further addons/DLC?
As usual thumb up. Nice video etc etc... XD I spend a few hours playing on TAW ; but compared to Wings of Liberty ; you don't have your navigation icon on the map and I always fly around and loose myself on the map ; unable too find my objective or get back too airbase.It would be a great idea to make some kind of tutorial on the navigation. I know some tips ; but summer maps and specially the Moscow map isn't really easy to find his way.
Anytime I read "Where Eagles Dare", I instantly hope for the main theme of that movie to set in somewhere along the video. It would have fit in with your footage as well.

You said that each side has 400 tanks, is it AI or is there a posibility to drive them yourself, thinking of the Pz III and T-34?
On TAW there is no option to drive a tank as a player.
don't know if this works in BoS as well, but at least in 1946 you could bring an il-2 down easily with just 2-3 cannon hits on the tip of the wing. never attempted to hit anywhere else after i found that out.
You were talking about certain mechancis like "having enough planes" and "losing aircraft" or "losing pilots". Is this game like an actual conflict and can you help one faction by doing missions (you said "transport missions" even)? I really like that concept! I may start to learn and play!

This is true, but previous round there usually was like a 5:1 of Axis:Allies. It was not fun. Right now it doesn't seem as bad, which I like.

What are those bumps on the front of the wings of later Bf 109 variants? I've seen them a lot and have been wondering.
If i'm correct it is extra space for the landing gear as the wheels got a bit larger with the later variants.

Is it possible that the german 20 mm cannons have less effect than the russian ones? The mineshells seem to deal less damage than I would expect them to. Granted, you have to score a hit at the right angle for the mineshells to deal as much damage as possible, but still...
Also, what are the ammo belts set up like?
There is a big difference bitween German and Russian firerate.
RoF, velocity and penetration on Russian guns are better, there is/was also a discussion whether penetration implemtented for HE sheels or not.

dudekidPL it's pretty much the same. there are like 4 servers that are dominating the multiplayer. In two of those you can play with tanks too.
Will the Romanian airforce ever be in this game? With their IAR aircraft?
It is a possibility that they will add a IAR fighter (at some point) with their new premium plane packs. Currently you can fly some German planes with Rumanian markings.
shit,i bought this game like 6 months before,like full bundle 75 euros,(or 70) then realise that dont have stick for playing/flaying then never play after that.....:(
bismarck how can u fly so stable in the 109 im always wobbling on all settings/speeds even small inputs from my joystick brings my plane to start wobbling. you even got gunpods and flying at lower speeds than i normaly do i never drop below 400km/h but still got problems to hoild plane stabble and why are u not wobbling whily shooting? when i got a burst off my nose guns my plane wobbles ( happens only with 109 and fockewulf)

I didn't have gunpods during this fight but it is mainly coming down to practice. You can also change the wobble by adjusting the curve of the pitch axis in the controls menu.

You mentioned it was important that, if shot down you bail, why is that so?
because if you dont bail, the pilot is lost and in this gamemode each side has only a limited number of pilots aviable. If the pilots are "spent" you lose. So its important to try and safe your manpower. (But also your pilot can get captured after bailing out if he is behind enemy lines)

it appears you have a bombing computer. do you have control of and is their a requirement of preselecting your speed, altitude, etc. ?
you have to put the inputs in, wind, speed, alt.
this is full simulation you can controll every aspect of the plane flaps,engine mixutre radiator almost every little thing :)

Not a bad idea. These days I often think, that I should've paid just a little more attention. (But then of course we hated it passionately.)
What happens, when you lose a pilot ?
If he is dead or captured, your team loses a pilot (main problem) and you lose your air kill and ground kill streak (minor problem). Oh, and you lose the plane you were flying.
does this game have big many players in multiplayer?

I'm in favor of any game that makes survival and objective completion more important than kill count. There's still the problem of players who are only there an hour out of a 2-3 hour match, they know they won't see the end so they don't care about saving planes for later and still crash/bail/suicide to save themselves the flight back.
but since TAW requires you to register on their site to play, i would hope most players there are a bit more serious than that
There are the occasional one-dimensional suicide moments with some players but they don't keep it up for long as they run out of aircraft. Still, WOL and TAW are like Black and White to each other.
How hard is this game to play in comparison to lets say war Thunder AF in simulator battles ?

So, if the Russians are always on the edge of limited planes, and the Germans have plenty of them, will the Russian team eventually get out of their 1300 planes ending the campaign? Is that because German team has better KDR overall or because flying transport or ground attack missions is more survivable for the German team? (easier to refill planes).
Currently, German team simply has more fighter jocks and while they shoot down a lot of LaGGs, Il-2s and Pe-2s, the Soviet team is playing the objective and are using their reserve of 1300 planes/900 pilots in order to push the Germans away. Also, if you get into a hairy situation, German planes generally allow you to get out of them. Russian planes don't.

I really want to buy Stalingrad, but I neither have the money for the game, nor the money for a joystick :(
First thing to worry about would be to check whether your system can run the game as it is currently rather unoptimized. Beyond that, Rise of Flight has a free trial you could have a look at.
