Finally I got the parts. Due to the lockdown in Malaysia, these took 3 weeks to arrive. That also i have to go to the courier company and take it myself.
Love your Inspira/Lancer DIY vids. I have a 2008 Lancer GTS with the 2.0L engine, so I always use your vids as a guide for working on mines (I changed both my valve cover gasket and CVT fluid and filter following your videos). Just a couple questions with this video (not sure if you’re able to answer): 1) Does changing the front LCAs only actually require an alignment, even if you don’t change the outer steering tie rod position or other alignment adjustment points? 2) Did this repair fully solve your issue with the knocking sound when going over bumpy surfaces? I have that same issue, but while I do “feel” the knocking sound through the steering wheel, the noise *seems* to be coming from higher up the suspension, so I’m thinking maybe the shock mounts??? Have you ever changed those? Thanks for any advice/input you may have, and thanks again for all your Inspira videos!
1. Yes, I did my alignment about 2 months back and after changing the LCAs, the front alignment was way out. Possibly when the alignment was done 2 months back, it was to suit the degraded LCAs angle. 2. Yes, i have a much quieter ride now. The thing about knocking sounds from suspension, it is very hard to pinpoint the exact failure point most of the time. Cause there is too many parts involved. For your case, it could be the shock mounts. It could also be both the LCA and shock mounts. Or it could be the stabilizer bar bush or the tie rod end or a worn brake caliper pin. But if you are feeling the knocking from the steering wheel, i suggest you start checking the tie rod end, brake caliper pin and stabilizer bar bushings. I changed my shock mounts........ a few years back to adjustable coilovers with pillow ball mounts.
Thanks for the reply. Makes sense, so seems I have a bit more research and investigating to do. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to the video with the rear suspension.
I enjoy ur Lancer realated video, cause i have Lancer 2014 model. I have some issues with my car. My car engine vibrates when the car is on brake while the gear is on D mood. Also it shakes when i am taking a slow turn ( like on slight brake). I will be thankfull if u can suggest me something with this issue.
Engine vibrates when on brake with gear on D..... most likely engine mounting. I have a video on changing the engine mounting. In the beginning of the video, i was showing the symptoms, you might want to check that out. Shaking while slow turn on slight brake..... could be caused by engine mounting as well or some suspension parts. Needs to check a few things: - engine mount - steering rack - tie rod - suspension top mount - brakes Glad you enjoyed my videos, more to come.
I just changed mine last week.. bought same brand lower arm from mounting king.. but yours is very easy to install.. i have difficulty to install it whereby the front bush not able to fit in.. don't know if small tolerance make the part not able to fit in.. mine is inspira 2011..
OHHHH, i had that same problem with my driver side. 2 or 3 mm difference which made it super difficult. Tried to pry it and all. Took almost 4 hours just to do the driver side. Passenger side, i just jam it in and within 30 minutes, i am done. haha.
@@TCsAnythingGoes i feel you bro for the super difficulty.. hahaha.. i notice the front bush lower arm from mounting king is no centered. This cause the front bush not easy to fit in.. next time need to buy original lower for front side.. out of tolerance with 3mm-5mm will be nightmare to install it.. hahaha..
finally got my alignment settled properly after two days. They messed up my alignment and the car was pulling to the left. Once alignment was properly done, it is pure joy to drive the car now. Now wobbly feeling at high speed and no annoying knocking sound when on uneven roads.
I also had 4 hrs on the driver side. The axle boot was removed and had to retighten it. Also had issues with the ball joint going into the knucke, had to reposition the ball joint ba hammer.
No videos of my adjustables since I installed it few years before I evens started my channel. Pros: - excellent cornering - plenty of adjustability (Hi Low, Soft Hard) - serviceable Cons: - much harder than OEM or sport absorbers - not so comfortable going thru uneven roads.
i think on the third year it was gone. Whole lower arm was still in good condition except for the ball joint that attaches to the knuckle. So i changed to a new one again.
I've been replacing my old front suspension parts one by one starting with the absorber. In hindsight, it's probably more cost saving if I just replace them all one off sekali jalan. Buy parts online from shopee and go to your trusted workshop and have them replace things that need replacing in and old car. DIY projects are nice but holy cow man, I am really not fit doing intense physical labor. Best I can do is to change the fan belt but it took an hour and hurt my back in the process.
I find changing the fan belt more tiring than changing an absorber actually due to the leaning position required to change the belt. When I first started doing DIY on cars, it was very time consuming as well as body breaking. But over time, it seems to get easier and even more enjoyable. I agree that DIY is not for everyone, but looking at DIY videos, at least when you go to the shops, you will know whether the mechanics are doing it right or just downright scamming you.
lower arm usually causes knocking sound when on uneven road especially those construction kind of road. And it also causes problem with handling. You will feel the car very floaty especially at high speeds.

As said by Jeremy Clarkson AND Thor when in a pinch ...... WHERE IS MY HAMMER.
Boss, any video from your adjustable absorber? Do you review it... pro n cons?

Cons:

Nice diy 👍 by the way where did you get your engine splash guard (aluminum skid plate)?
been many years, i think i got it from a FB seller name Rainbox Pen.
After you changed the lower arm for some years, how is the arm holding up right now? Do they still in good shape after 4 years? Care to comment.

Is it safe to spray silicone grease on these bushings?
i do not know..... have never tried that but why would you want to spray silicone grease on the bushing?
Hi bro, what is other symptom sounds cause by lower arm obviously? Because my frony passenger side start make it than sounds.
