I have often seen more conservative news organizations and right wing UA-camrs (such as that Short Fat Otaku fellow) often claim that the violence done by radical leftist organizations such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter are just as bad as the violence committed by alt-right terroists like the Christchurch shooter and the Proud Boys. Do you think there is any validity to that statement? (Personally, I must say, I don’t like violence at all and never want to be in any situations where I feel forced to do it, but I am certainly open to an anarchist take on violence)
@@thefaceofscience677 Definitely don't see there being much of a comparison but I appreciate you honestly asking. One is for the oppression and killing of minorities for example, the other is for fighting that oppression and violence. A question every person who identifies themself in "the middle" should be asking is "Would I rather support fascist violence, which by nature and definition, seeks to bring harm against those who happen to be of a demographic which is deemed "impure" by imperialist nationalists, or, should I perhaps be supporting the necessary means to bring this violence to a halt?" Now how much force as an individual you decide to enact for the gain of community, that is even fiercely debated within the leftist community (ies). Notice how I placed a potential plural in there. Even Anarchism and Socialism alone take many shapes and forms, but the main idea which tends to bring us all together is that we don't like state or capitalist oppression. Notice how there are nameable examples of right-wing extremism, yet only one catch-all attribution toward left-wing radicalism? Antifa is a mode of thought and praxis, not a formal organization. A great video you should watch is by a UA-camr called PhilosophyTube. Just look his name up and type in Antifa and you'll get a more in-depth explanation than I can provide here. He and Thought Slime both also explain the term violence quite well in their videos and so you will be doing yourself a service by checking them both out.
Okay, how would you exactly define ‘fascist violence‘? Who, or rather what I suppose, is this ‘fascist violence’ in service of? I mean, I live in America, where many people have supposedly taken up arms against fascist violence, but (while there is certainly a GREAT DEAL wrong with the US as of late, I will not dispute that) is United States isn’t fascist? (I have often seen this talked about several times in leftist videos (including the fabulous one by Oliver that you linked me to, and thank you very much for that) up until this point, but I’ve never quite felt comfortable with calling the American government, or the American country in general, fascist! Because aren’t fascists extremely tyrannical and would absolutely hate the democracy that the US has?)
@@thefaceofscience677 This song and the channels I've recommended should hopefully be addressing most of these questions. I'm glad you like them and hope you are getting something out of them. America is quite conservative. It is currently run by a conservative government. Fascist belief and action manifests itself in the form of bigoted hatred of people of color, anyone from the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, refugees, women, people with any disability you can imagine under the sun. May it be by organized groups like the KKK, the Proud Boys, or enforced through the passing of law by the government in favor of big capitalist bodies. Take a look at the mass for-profit incarceration in the States. That system relies on imprisoning and torturing not only people who shouldn't be there, but the mass majority of these inmates are either desperate from poverty (capitalism, which is protected by the state), are mentally ill, or in most cases, a minority of some sort. Look at what ICE is doing to families and their children. Detention camps are still a thing in our world. The pointless wars that large corporations themselves were too afraid to fight, so they trained and sent young people often desperate for some sort of income to go fight for them and kill innocent families and civilians. And how do we justify these wars? We justify it through xenophobic and anti-Islamic rhetoric, dehumanizing people who frankly don't want other countries invading them. These are all fascist ideologies being used to help North Americans sleep well every night, so that they can justify why they're in a better position than most of the world. When the conservatives aren't being incredibly anti-Semitic, it's because they are embracing their alliance with Israel against let's just admit it, brown people in another foreign country. The point is, there is fascism everywhere, regardless of what political leader is in charge that term. There are legit self-identified white supremacists in law enforcement as well and that also needs to change. Now that's just in the States, as well as Canada. Our song is criticizing the RCMP for taking the side of large corporations and being given the ok to kill peaceful unarmed protest against our government, which like the United States, was founded by enslaving and killing Indigenous people while stealing their land. The "contested" territory that the people are trying to defend was never Canadian land in the first place, and so by invading it and trying to use it for financial gain is frankly disgusting. Not to mention an RCMP recruit has been officially linked to the making of labels for an Alberta Oil Company (again, read the lyrics) which depicts the rape of a minor. Now if all that isn't a little tyrannical I don't know what is. We can try to make as many excuses for our current state of being all we want. But the fact is, capitalism has major downfalls, much like feudalism had. Nobody wanted it to change, and it took a lot to challenge people to think of new ways to make the system better. But now, even with the COVID-19 crisis, I think people are starting to realise that things like socialism aren't as bad as our current state of pro-capitalist government likes to claim. Also I'm just gonna throw in one more example but there are a loooot of examples of the United States government supporting fascists (Officials in-office, FBI, CIA....) You know George Bush's grandpa? US senator Prescott Bush. Well he was not only the shareholder but also the director of organizations who had a hand in aiding the nazis during WWII. He helped them build the extermination camps. Now for what purpose you ask, does fascism serve? Well, money definitely helps. But I can't help but think that a well-educated trim and proper man that the people voted for, might actually in fact have had racists and bigoted beliefs. But who knows what a person is really thinking. Again, I urge you to visit more of the aforementioned content. All that, above there, us leftists, yeah we're trying to fight all that. It ain't easy, but at least we aren't sitting around making excuses for it all like those on the far-right are. And those who are claiming "there's atrocities on both side", sitting in their comfy spot in "the middle", well, they only need to read a history book to know which side they should be on. I hope this helps - thanks for your curiosity and willingness to have a chat with a leftist! We're taking a bit of a much-needed break from the internet for awhile, but if you need any more resources I'm sure people like Olly (PhilosophyTube) would be more than happy to recommend more material for you. It's sometimes hard to find the right people who are willing to sit down and explain their entire belief system, so I apologize in advance for any assholes you meet on Reddit or Twitter, etc.on your journey. Oh, also watch out for ANY authoritarian people, left or right, and also stay clear of the genocide deniers. Oh and the flat-earthers and antivaxxers, but those people generally aren't any more left than simple liberal so you should be good in these parts. Ta-tah!
Ooh! Wait one last thing. I just want you to know that this all doesn't mean everyone is a fascist. It's just again, that fascist beliefs and actions are easy to seep into policy and we need to be aware of that. Class consciousness, social awareness, intersectionality, loving and caring for one another will makes things better. And everyone messes up sometimes. And it's ok to be corrected sometimes because, everyone is at some point. For example, by growing up in a racist system, many people are bound to do racist things, sometimes intentional, sometimes not. That doesn't mean this person cannot come back from that and learn. Hell we had to remove an ableist statement in one of our past tunes, because we realised who that might have been unintentionally hurting. Everyone is learning. Now, if it's some megalomaniac who is fully aware of what they're doing, imposing and happily contributing to a system that feeds off of fascist hatred at the expense of vulnerable human beings, then that's where the person should be held accountable to a higher degree, because they are naturally going to do more harm. But at the end of the day, everyone is accountable. Even with a liberal government, Canada still has a huge problem with fascism. Anyways. Just wanted to make sure that was clear. Take care friend.

I know what ACAB means, but what does RCMP mean? (I’m afraid I’m rather new to all of this anarchism stuff. I hope that this question didn’t show that too much!)
Not a problem - thanks for coming to explore! RCMP stands for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. They are being criticized because on a federal level they contribute to what is talked about in our lyrics, and beyond. They have actively defended the oppressive capitalist hierarchies which Anarchists seek to dismantle. Again thanks for staying curious :).

The eyeballs are back Years later in the form of a pastel pink punk albertan girl. And we appreciate the alberta slander. I dunno if you’re albertan or just see it as an easy place to mock but either way-
Just wondering, do the lyrics "rcmp and opp are paid to kill the fucking reds" in this context refer to socialists or Indigenous people? The context of the following lyrics lead me to think indigenous people and i think its worth pointing out that using that word like that is a racial slur. I don't want to presume whether or not these lyrics were written by an indigenous person and if the lyric there is meant to be reclaiming, but if it wasn't written by an indigenous person, that's kind of a big problem. We shouldn't be tokenizing indigenous struggle to fit into our anarchist pursuits while perpetuating anti-indigenous racism

Thanks! We were considering it for the sake of reach, although many of us having side projects tested through Spotify, we've found to have more progress making an income on places like bandcamp. We'll be sure to post on our Facebook page if we get an account! In the meantime, here's our bandcamp link. Thanks again :) gildedkants.bandcamp.com/
Love this! Are yall trying to get on spotify? They generally are really cool about platforming quality leftist music that is underappreciated
Thanks very much! We were considering it, though we've found to have more progress making an income on bandcamp. This is good to hear that they are welcoming of leftist content however! Will have a chat with the rest of the band about it and mention that. We'll be sure to post on our Facebook page if we get an account! In the meantime, here's our bandcamp link. Thanks again :) gildedkants.bandcamp.com/
Back here for indigenous peoples day. Remember that the struggles indigenous people go through haven't gone away yet.
Eyeball zone is still at it.

Thanks for checking us out! We were considering it, though we've found to have more progress making an income on bandcamp. Someone above recently commented that they are actually quite welcoming of leftist content so will have a chat with the rest of the band about it and mention that.
Okay, thanks! And (just so I know that we are actually on the same page) ACAB stands for All Cops Are Bastards right?
@@thefaceofscience677 Bingo! And any time :). Have a good one!
Stay strong, friend
Thanks for making this. Talking about slime balls, I was sent here by one.
My headphones disconnected and this was blasted too everyone in my family.
Mannn I'm desperately in need of something like this in an Australian context. Now all my punk playlists are American or, most recently, Canadian!
Been on my to listen list for a bit now and I'm not disappointed. Definitely a great recommendation by Thought Slime.
Sounds really good! Cool to know music like this is also being made.
Love your stuff dude

Baller as fuck. Glory to the Eyeballs. Glad to see Lefties and now hear them which are you. With cool music. That I like. Solidarity.
An eyeball overlord sent me here.
Came because of slime, stayed because the lyrics.
_sniffs_ das good shit
I must ask: Is your name a Cradle of Filth reference?
Good eye! It was certainly in the conversation when brainstorming a name!
Fantastic!
i fucking love those eyeballs

Fucking nice

Are you still alive comrades?
