God this movie was a childhood favorite of mine. It didn’t go exactly like the books but I loved it either way because it was just absolutely hilarious from Jim Carrey. And I had a huge crush on Emily Browning.
Same here. It was one of my favorites from my childhood. Also I’m surprised you had a crush on Emily Browning, it wasn’t until years ago she was Australian lol.
@@jordandutra9029 eh what can I say, i just always thought she was extremely pretty, and she still looks just the same now as back then since she’s like what in her 30s? I wanna say she was late teens when filming this movie.
well they had to cram everything into 1 movie, the Series goes into far more depth and in my opinion is alot better in terms of the story, Neil Patrick harris plays the part perfectly
Honestly, I prefer Carrey's Olaf. I love NPH, but his Olaf lost a lot of that intimidation and intelligence that made the character so entertaining to watch.
Jim Carrey in THE Mask was in the funniest movie that I have ever seen. In the scene where he gets the police to sing and dance with him, and especially the comments from the two guys up on the roof, were comic genius.
Wished he did a second film either live-action or animated, because Carrey is still a master physical actor and good at playing hilarious evil as evident by the recent Sonic movies. Heck, I think Olaf is a very underrated villain who should be utilized more beyond being about the Baudelaire children.
I think there was (at one point) a plan to make a sequel film, using puppets instead of it being live action. The rationale given for this in the movie was going to be that the events they were portraying would be too unsettling if they used love action actors.
I played this game when I was 10 years old and never knew there was a movie about this until I went to high school. 😅 great adventure game and movie too. Brings back the old memories.
Except for the fact that not all of them were out by the time the movie hit the airwaves. I did some research and The End had yet to hit the bookstores. I think The Penultimate Peril too.
From my point of view Carrey performance is better and the movie is better than the show. The show has a lot of self-repetitions that get boring. The 2004 film creators managed the time much better. In a shorter period of time they managed to convey the idea more capaciously and vividly than the series did lately.
Jim Carrey is unrecognizable. Actually Jim Carrey is always easily recognizable, no matter what and how much makeup is on his face, but his facial expressions are unmistakable and unmistakable.
The series itself had its own moments and covered the rest of the books with Count Olaf being more accurate in that in terms of personality and his background. Neil Patrick Harris nailed Olaf in that series but Jim Carrey did it in his own way and he also made his role in the movie much memorable. So both adaptations are good on their own but wished they wouldn’t cramped all 3 books in one film and stick to making it a tv show.
It's more in depth, certainly. Neil had the chance to really dive deep into the character and he killed it in his own way, but Jim Carrey is far and away the game killer.

@@Raf_8724Both adaptations are good on their own, sure the movie didn’t go exactly the same direction as the books due to the first 3 being cramped into one film but Jim Carrey does make Olaf into a funny and likeable character. I enjoyed the series but I had my takes and opinions about it in which I prefer Glenn Close as Aunt Josephine more rather than Alfre Woodard as the character in the Netflix series.
Nice to see that Paramount remembered this movie exists

It was a great film and I also enjoyed it. Carey’s acting was the best. 😂

Eggman motivation
WHAT MOVIE IS THIS? ANSWER ME!!
@ Lemony Snicket’s: A series of unfortunate events.
It was already remade as a series on Netflix.
Neither one is very good.
@@sdfried4877 You were so polite! 😂 Even though I was like: "ANSWER ME!!!"
God bless you!
@ Your need seemed desperate. 😆
The way he says 'ultimate' even in the sonic 2 movie is hilarious
Jim Carrey laughing at the end , aaah- uuh 😂😂
Ikr😂😂😂
i remember hating this movie when it came out because i was obsessed with the books as a kid; but it's just hard to not like anything jim carry does.
Jim Carrey was outstanding as Olaf, NPH didn't even come close. A shame we never got the sequels.
Jim Carey did phenomenal work in this. Best casting

I totally agree. I wish there was a second movie that came out in 2006 using Books 4-6. But it never happened.
This was a freaking GOOD movie
I never realized it was Jim Carrey 'till now I don't even know how it slipped my mind, what an amazing guy!
I love this movie

Would have been cool if they could Hotwire the car and probably more convenient. But the trick with the rope and track switcher is pretty cool.
this and only this version is the best of series of unfortunate!
i was searching this movie for past 20 year now i got it thank you
For a movie Jim, for a series Neil
Count Olaf: That’s Enough!
It is better than the series
I wish they did all the books.....
From what I've read, they combined and summarised the 3 books into 1 movie!
Except for the fact that not all of them were out by the time the movie hit the airwaves. I did some research and The End had yet to hit the bookstores. I think The Penultimate Peril too.

I remember the film was very hyped when it was released but somehow it was quickly forgotten
I agree.
What A Legend! 🔥😎
Great movie.
The kids really have natural skills
Jim Carrey is unrecognizable. Actually Jim Carrey is always easily recognizable, no matter what and how much makeup is on his face, but his facial expressions are unmistakable and unmistakable.
My favourite movie.❤
This movie is wonderful… This movie has not been shown on any streaming platforms.

By the way he is not jim carry he is neil patrick haris as count olaf
Neil Patrick is the Count Olaf in the Netfflix series, while Jim Carrey played him in the film. Could you not tell the difference? LMAO
He's pretty recognizable to me.
Unrecognizable how?
This honestly does not look like it was from 2004 at all
It was ahead of its time.
Has it already been 20 years? 💀
هذا فيلم حساس جدا
He is recognizable lol. like less than a second.. it's obviously jim carrey
I can still be the new Jim Carrey
👍👍👍👍👍
His performance was fantastic, but I really liked Neil Patrick Harris performance.
Jim Carrey looks like Ebenezer Scrooge from A Christmas Carol
Well . . . . . . . . .

Nah i can pretty much tell that its jim carrey browsky
D legends
Unrecognisable 😂 maybe to a blind and deaf person
Read book have lion
He's only unrecognizable if you have no idea what he looks like in real life. Dumb title.
No he is not unrecognizable as count olaf. Not at all.
Neil Patrick Harris did it better.
The series from Netflix is full of cringe acting and the Count Olaf there is weird and not funny
The series itself had its own moments and covered the rest of the books with Count Olaf being more accurate in that in terms of personality and his background. Jim Carrey was good but he is no where near as good as Neil Patrick Harris it's still a good movie the show is way better though
You're insane
