That is so sad a father had to bury his pride and joy his baby boy from a lethal bite from a walker and then bury him but a father should not be the person to take a child’s life from them its not healthy bye Carl you’ll be missed
I hate this episode because Carl Grimes is my favorite character on the Walking Dead and seeing him leave makes me cry!!!😰😰😰
His fathers son, right to the end. Dying and knowing that he was going to Rise unless it was finished by other means, he did it himself rather than force either of his parents to do it. Rick would have done exactly the same thing. Fine send-off for Carl Grimes.
As sad as this scene is canonically, it honestly makes me feel a little happy. Knowing the actor playing Carl wanted to end his time on the Walking Dead to go to college seems like a nice send off for the character and the actor too IMO. Obviously they couldn't give him a happy ending in a singe season - so a heartfelt, somber, and emotional ending for his character felt fitting
That's not why he left the show. Showrunner Gimple confirmed that. There's a reason people say this is the stupidest decision the showrunners ever made. That wouldn't be a logical thing to say if Carl's exit was at Riggs' request.
Riggs purchased a house in Georgia where the show was filmed and planned to attend college *and* continue portraying Carl. Gimple killed Carl purely to give Rick a reason to spare Negan. There are rumors it was because they didn't want to pay Riggs as an adult, but as far as I'm aware, that's unconfirmed.
Nevertheless, Riggs' family and Riggs himself didn't know this was happening and were blindsided by Gimple's decision. His family wasn't too happy about it, given the kid bought a house in Georgia and planned his college aspirations around still portraying Carl, but Chandler seems to have no hard feelings about it.
