I have lived in Michigan my entire life. I love listening to you talk about the same places I've visited many times. The Mackinac Bridge is my favorite place to go. Once you cross it into the upper peninsula, you feel like you are that much closer to heaven. Michigan is an absolutely beautiful state.

I'm from Oklahoma, my husband was born and raised in Michigan. I spent my honeymoon on Mackinaw Island. I loved it. At bedtime , it was so quiet, you could only hear the clip clop of the horses, and occasionally a barge going by. I felt like I went back in time and absolutely loved it!

What a fun trip. I worked on Mackinac Island for 3 summers in the late 70’s. It was so much fun and it is where I met my husband. We have been married 40 years now. It has always been one of our favorite places to visit. Mighty Mac Hamburgers is where I worked. Thanks, it brought up a lot of great memories for me. ❤

I’m from Michigan and you did a wonderful job sharing how special Mackinac Island is! It is one of my favorite places! One of my favorite things to do when I go there is to ride the bike trail around the island. It is such a pretty trail. Another special thing to do if you visit again is at the Grand Hotel there is a tea party, it was so special to do this with my daughters. You are so right about enjoying these times with family. Such treasured memories.

We live in Michigan and try to visit Mackinac island every year. We started staying on the island for one or two nights the last few years and that is really fun. It gets very quiet after the last ferry leaves the island. We take our bikes and ride all over the island and explore new places. We have three children and now they are all married with kids of their own. We hope to take some grandchildren when they get a little older. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in May. Blessings to both of you. You are such a sweet couple. So happy you got to see the island. Try spending the night next time and you’ll see. The people are wonderful there.

I live in the largest Amish community in the world in NE Holmes County Ohio. We are not Amish but we just love living here! Always bikes, carriages, wagons! My husband and I were able to take our kids on a horse drawn sleigh ride! There must be at least 2 inches of snow and we had more than enough! They had hot chocolate and homemade cookies after. So special!

I grew up in Michigan and love the summers there, especially up north! In fact I will be visiting family there soon. So glad you had a wonderful time on Mackinac Island. Frankenmuth is also one of my favorite towns which has a large beautiful Christmas store - Bronner's! It is fun to walk through even if you are not shopping. Yes, flowers in lower or upper Michigan are just beautiful. I have not been able to duplicate what I grew there while living in the south now. You may know that the ferrys stop running in the cold months. There is a small population that live on the island year-round. I do know Mama Mia's Pizza! Another great Michigan pizza is Buddy's! (In lower Michigan).

I am so glad you were able to go back there. My late in-laws went there for their honeymoon over 65 years ago, They stayed at the Iroquois hotel. My mom and stepfather went to the Iroquois hotel for their honeymoon 55 yrs ago. I went there for my honeymoon 31 yrs ago And stayed at the Iroquois hotel. A couple years ago One of my sons took his family and they went to the island for vacation. And oh yes, the fudge is amazing. When?
I went 31 years ago. It was right after the lilac festival we went in June. I remember there were no telephones if you wanted to use a telephone you had to go down and they had them in the hallway on the main floor a payphone. The room we had was big and the bathroom was in a small closet. But oh, how I remember the white shutters that went halfway across the windows. The fort is amazing to see everything is. What a special trip you had with your parents. I had always hoped to have my mom and stepfather.Go back there again in later years. But my stepfather passed away 18 yrs ago.

I am so super excited that Michaela will really enjoyed it the first time she got to experience the city and then the island and the ferry ride. My favorite place out of anywhere.
Maybe you'll be able to stay on the island and experience what it's like after all the fairies are closed and they closed down the shops in the quietness. And then get up early in the morning as the City opens up and comes to life in the clap clap with the horses.

Michaela & Brandon, my dad grew up in Mackinaw City & we still have my grandparents house in the family. I grew up in San Francisco, CA & we went to MI every other summer to visit my grandparents. Every time we went we went to the Island. I have cousins who still live in Cheboygan & one of them got married on Mackinaw Island & the reception was at the Grand Hotel. We actually stayed overnight at the Grand Hotel, it was the most magical wedding & experience staying on the Island & at the Grand Hotel. I haven't been back since bfor COVID. My dad passed away 19yrs ago, but I took my mom, nephew & niece bfor COVID hit. My mom just turned 89 so I'm not real sure she'll b going back again. I hope to go myself in the next year or 2.

Frankenmuth has the ice sculptures every year and they also have ice carving competitions during the week of the festival. Michigan is such a beautiful State. We go to the UP every 4th of July (for the week). We stay at Drummond Island and it is positively gorgeous. When you get a chance go to Copper Harbor. It’s so beautiful. Lots to do in the UP. There are other museums, one in Sault St. Marie. I love the Mackinac Bridge. That is really cool that you got to go under the bridge on the way to the island. The island is actually closed during the winter months.

    Howdy Brandon and Michaela. My husband and I were both born and raised in Michigan. Although we grew up at the bottom of the mitten, (near Ann Arbor and just 20 mins north of Toledo OH), my parents took 2-4 week trips throughout Michigan nearly every summer. I remember going to Mackinac Island when I was around 15 years old. What a trip that was. We also went to see the Tahquamenon Falls in the UP. Then on our honeymoon, my husband and I went back to the island, and rented a bicycle built for 2 and rode all over the island. What a beautiful place to see with the one(s) you love. We have been married now for 42 years. God has truly blessed our marriage, and our family, so richly. I pray blessings for you both, always. Remember to always keep your eyes stayed on Jesus! {{{hugs}}}

I am so glad you enjoyed your beautiful state. He is a live statue he has been to all over the world. Next time, you need to go up to the Soo Locks to see all the big freighters that travel the Great Lakes.

We loved Mackinac Island! We’ve been to Mackinac Island twice. So beautiful, and the churches were amazing as well. The whole history of the island was amazing!

That was fun! As a parent I suspect your parents loved that time with you.
A side note: I loved watching your visit to the hospital to meet Will. I could tell it really meant A LOT to Lawson that you traveled the distance.
I love your whole family and the bond between all of you.
Oh! And the swaddle and hat are amazing. You are so talented. Lawson mentioned several times that you made it.
God Bless you! Thanks for sharing! ❤️🙏

Life long Michigander here! Mackinac Island is one of our gems for sure! You both need to watch the movie Somewhere In Time. One of the best movies filmed on the Island and at the Grand Hotel! It’s a love story you will love! 💕 🏨 🐴 🛥️

Back in 1980 I saw 'Somewhere in Time' with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, beautiful film and music. Never forgot the Island and would love to visit one day. I live in Australia so watching your video is the next best thing!

I'm a Michigander . I have lived in both peninsulas. I worked on Mackinac Island 3 summers. My mother in law was born and raised there. The Island is 7 miles around. I haven't been back there since 1990 and don't miss it at all!!!

We love Mackinac Island! Spring, summer, fall and winter are beautiful! We had to fly over in January and that was a fun experience too! There are so many trails on the back of the island. The overview map is very detailed and easy to follow.
