On my last ship, as soon as we got out into clear, deep water, he would turn hard to port, then hard to starboard at 16 knots. "Just to make sure that we were properly secured for sea".

I went to boot camp in Cape May; nice town. My wife and I have been watching your channel for a couple years. I just retired and purchased a 30' Willard Vega Voyager. We moved it to our shop in Pacolet SC where it will get 1.5-year major rebuild. I hope to do a UA-cam channel on the process. After it's all done, we will begin our first loop experience. Thanks for passing on so much great info.

Welcome back to the boat !! Hope you had a wonderful time with family while living on land. How has it been being back on the move? I know you had to miss it. It looks like you were welcomed back with a smooth ride. We look forward to seeing more. Fair winds and calm sea wishes

Cool stuff. Always wondered what parts of the loop would have rough enough water to potentially cause issues. Also interesting when you are in places I have been, just not on the water. Used to take the ferry between Cape May and somewhere in Delaware (i think anyway, its been 30ish years). As it was in a semi, I'd always try to line up where I could get the front spot. So I could sit in comfort and enjoy the the ride. There were days when it would be a bit rough though it never really bothered the ferry other than spray.

Great to have you onboard with us! We would vacation every year in Wildwood and Cape May - that was over 50 years ago! The bay can get rough. It was our third time on that route and we were a bit more prepared!

Rev , you don’t seem like you want another loop ! Have you thought about the Bahamas ? Your boat could make the crossing and from what I’ve seen of other cruisers going there it’s pretty enjoyable ! Just a thought and question .

    Condensation, not smoke...lol

Yes, technically, but smoke on the water is more Deep Purple-ish!
