Before there was Ant and Dec, there were Messrs Bolam and Bewes playing the Geordie characters Terry and Bob respectively. Have been binge-watching classic TV shows from start to end: Dad’s Army, ‘Allo ‘Allo!, Fawlty Towers, etc.. Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais who wrote TLL/WHTTL also wrote Porridge, another favourite of mine. So this may well be my next destination. Am playing Abdul the brickie in local Antony and Cleopatra panto, so will draw inspiration from sister-show Auf Wiedersehen Pet in influencing my accent. I have watched a few highlights of the series and a few episodes, but not enough as a fan-follower in continuity order. Now may be a good time to start. The theme tune alone, for me, brings great happiness and does mountains in convincing me it’s a great show. Makes me nostalgic for a time when I was never around. Alex, 21
"Before there was Ant and Dec, there were Messrs Bolam and Bewes playing the Geordie characters Terry and Bob respectively" yes, and as I recall Bolam and Bewes were funny, unlike Pants and Declined.
My favourite TV theme. In my fifties now. I grew up through an era when entertainment was free from the poison of feminism and political correctness. Focusing upon the lives of real human beings. Instead of politically concocted artificial nobodies.
Oh what happened to you, Whatever happened to me, What became of the people we used to be, Tomorrow’s almost over today went by so fast, It’s the only thing to look forward to the past. There was a time when time didn’t matter only the time of day and living was living in hope which would never pass away. Well it was a Monday morning, when weekend was done. Fear was the fear of being what we had become. Oh what happened to you Whatever happened to me What became of the people we used to be Tomorrow’s almost over today went by so fast It’s the only thing to look forward to the past You say I’m a fool in a fools paradise let my life slip away. Waiting with my head in the clouds lookin for a sunny day. Never go back you tell me it’s the worst thing you can do But I must go there till I find out where it is I’m going to Oh what happened to you Whatever happened to me What became of the people we used to be Tomorrow’s almost over, today went by so fast It’s the only thing to look forward to the past

Oh what happened to you,
Whatever happened to me,
What became of the people we used to be,
Tomorrow’s almost over today went by so fast,
It’s the only thing to look forward to the past.
There was a time when time didn’t matter only the time of day and living was living in hope which would never pass away.
Well it was a Monday morning, when weekend was done.
Fear was the fear of being what we had become.
Oh what happened to you

What became of the people we used to be
Tomorrow’s almost over today went by so fast
It’s the only thing to look forward to the past
You say I’m a fool in a fools paradise let my life slip away. Waiting with my head in the clouds lookin for a sunny day.
Never go back you tell me it’s the worst thing you can do
But I must go there till I find out where it is I’m going to
Oh what happened to you
Whatever happened to me
What became of the people we used to be
Tomorrow’s almost over, today went by so fast
It’s the only thing to look forward to the past
