I found these guys on spotify about a week ago and I've been listening to them non-stop. At first I was describing them to friends as "The Killers, but surf" and now I'm hearing so many more layers and they're reminding me of The Doors, but also the songwriting reminds me of the new QOTSA in the best way. These guys went from unknown to my favourite band in one hot minute and I loved every second of it.
Doors, Roxy Music (Bryan Ferry) , Nick Cave, Blasters, Dick Dale, Talking Heads, Television, and the list could go on. However I must say this band is fresh and do not sound like just one of these artists. Fantastic.
Discovered these guys a week ago through a friend suggesting "Dionysus", and I tho uhg h to myself "wow that's a hot voice, the singer's probably really hot" AND GODDAMN I WAS RIGHT
People say the glass is half full/empty.....I think you really have to search for good music. It is there. But you gotta go get it. It's not on the radio, it's often not popular. I'd say your generation has a lack of good music though. Of course people love the 80s now though....I thought there was a lot of crap in the 80's. Now people love it.
All these supportive comments from 2+ years ago just make me even more disappointed in these guys. They had it allllll! The looks, the sound, the hair!! (I'm 22 and currently suffering from hair loss so this is a big point for me) the underground feel. Not a single ugly, talentless man in this band. They could get any woman easily from ages 18 - the grave and they decided to take it for granted and threw it all away for some kids smh... but props to Dakota for keeping himself clean of all that kid diddling. Never thought I'd say that in sentence but that's what the music scene has come to...
@@joaobottazzini9111 Because you believe everything you hear / read in the media? Fair enough about Sean, but these guys were young and clearly adored by all the girls that went to see them, and guess what comes with the bands music - groupies, lots of girls hanging around. It's been happening for decades - drugs, sex, on tour antics, love, etc - That's what music is about. Are you such a prude who's done no wrong in your life? People do things when they are intoxicated - does that deserve such misplaced words from people like you?
The only thing with all the younger bands they are so damn obvious...the clothes the sound the hair cuts ...the vibe it's all contrived ...its talking heads mark 2 ..I'm out of hear
No. They’re definitely more jazz beach rockabilly or something. Hard to genre them. But definitely not like those two bands. WhT a dumb comparison, seems like you’re just naming mainstream bands. Even the cramps are a better comparison. Probably haven’t heard of them have you?
Man buttertones one of the best bands of a generation, the drums, the growlers, the buttertones, enjoy, etc so good surf goth
I recommend listening to ISLAND! Also a super nice band
fuck yeah
Regardless of what happened to this band, I still enjoy their music. I listen to their songs all the time.
they released a new single recently
@@Beaullayand it bangssss
No reason not to. They dealt with the issue and are moving forward
I’m convinced these guys were part of a late 1950s cryogenic experiment and they were thawed a few years back to bring their sound to modern times

@@laguna_tuna1579 HOLY FUCK YES, THAT'S IT

Me too, "Matador" is fucking incredible
I agree with everything. I even get Bowie vibes in several songs (e.g. Denial you win again). A very interesting band.
in conclusion, buttertones has vibes of many good bands.
Doors, Roxy Music (Bryan Ferry) , Nick Cave, Blasters, Dick Dale, Talking Heads, Television, and the list could go on. However I must say this band is fresh and do not sound like just one of these artists. Fantastic.

It’s gonna be hard to recover from this. I’m deeply disappointed in life.
They’re back
people say our generation has no taste in music... lol ok
When they say that, they're obviously not talking about you. They're talking about the "popular" music which is unfortunately not this.

I don't think so. He sounds more like the guy from Interpol imo.
He sounds like himself. Paul Banks is awesome tho
He sounds like Jeffery Lee Pierce from The Gun Club with the rhythm of nick cave.

Why does the drummer look so much like Jimmy Page
Oh lord, that crowd
the crowd made me cringe for some reason.
Horace Bones same here, I went to one of their concerts and their fans were getting annoying.

it's such a shame how miserably awful that bassist is, i'm glad they could move on and continue making music
The poor drummer didn't get an allotment from the costume budget.
Brandon Jones this is their style
Y'all can't take a joke

a week ago i wouldve loved to see them for the 3rd time. now im just.... disgusted and fucking sad....
I love their music not them. It's such a shame that most of their songs have been removed from spotify.

Legit thought the drummer was shirtless for a sec
He reminds me of Jim Morrison
None of y'all posers have mentioned
The Gun Club?? Lol which is a good thing so they coo in my book
Fermin Amaya Thought I was the only one who found that similarity.
