He has been found! Apparently it was all voluntary and planned. He arranged to meet a 19-year old fellow gamer who he probably met online. They went to another city a couple of hours away where the police could finally pick him up after tracking his phone.

Why did he leave the ship it was a stupid thing he did

Its very normal to get off a cruise ship so you can see the cities you dock at. Its literally the point of a Northern European cruise and hundreds of people disembark each day in port. The issue is that he didn't come back before the ship was scheduled to leave.

By that logic, it's stupid to go on a cruise ship at all

Yes but minor’s are normally allowed off by themselves. On carnival you have to be 16 to leave the ship alone. Btw, carnival owns princess and a lot of other cruise lines. I cruise with my grandkids frequently and I would be devastated if they were allowed off the ship without me knowing and then went missing.

Germany likely has a lower murder rate in its big cities than rural America has. There were a total of 214 (actual data) murders in Germany in 2023 vs the US with 18.456 (projection). The US has about 4 times the population, so if the US had a similar rate, it should see about a 1000 a year.
