Enterprise was an awesome show with a great crew that got screwed by poor management and network executive politics. UPN killed that show before its time.
@@Thin447Line Agree on that. One of the best episodes of Trek period in my opinion was "Carbon Creek" where T'Pol told the story of her great grandmother visiting Earth in the 50s. I think the show got off to a slightly rocky start and I missed the majority of it on its first run because of my schedule, but I watched the entire series about a year ago and was very pleasantly surprised how much better it was than I remember it. Not one annoying character, the cast was solid and the writing was for the most part consistently good. What ruins new Trek for me is how they keep hiring people to run the shows who brag about how they never liked Star Trek and to me I quit after Star Trek Into Darkness. Never watched a full episode of SNW or STD, but the clips I have seen make me want to puke. At least we have some good fan productions. Big fan of Star Trek Continues, which is available on youtube for free.
A big ST anniversary recently came up and Paramount put up a big graphic showing the "stars" of Star Trek. Shatner was not on it. They are trying to push all the new stuff.

It's hard to break the habit of 16 years. All the actors have been trained to give their hot takes and receive adulation for their virtue, and all the best roles. We forget how just a few years ago, it was open season on half the country. People acclimated to that cultural landscape can't reverse course without confessing they've been idiots for years on end. Ironically by doubling down they admit they are fools more than admitting they were fools in itself would do. It's a no win scenario for them, and those as we know are used to test character (kobayashi maru), they are just proving what they are through this.
The network had no problems with Jeffrey Hunter, who played captain Pike. The problem was Hunter's wife, who was dead set on her husband being a movie star. She thought TV was beneath him. The producers even screened "the cage" for her to convince her to let her husband be on the show. One of his children said in an interview that he would probably have been happier if he had stayed with Star Trek. He never quite got A-list stardom, but does have some great credits. The Networks DID have a problem with both Spock and "number 1" Rodenberry fought for both and was able to save Spock.
He probably would've lived longer as well. From what I've read, he died of a hemorrhage he suffered several months after an accident with a squib while he was filming in Spain, apparently causing him to fall down the stairs and fracture his skull. Obviously, that wouldn't have happened if he'd stuck with 'Star Trek.' Weird to consider what the show would've been like without Shatner and with Hunter. Maybe there's a parallel universe out there.

Hollywood has stopped making movies for normal people. When they actually make a movie worth watching maybe I will go to a movie again...assuming there are still movie theatres after they finish destroying all of our favorite stories.

SNW is in someways a revenge show. A certain segment of strokes Rick fans never for gave the original captain Pike for saying that he couldn’t get used to having women on the bridge. So now, other than spark and pike, there is nothing but women on the bridge. Even Mitchell has been retconned . into a woman. That is where they like to play around and have Pike wearing an apron and cooking for everyone constantly. Even the second season finale, which was clearly meant to be a riff on the best of both worlds, showed Pike being very cowardly and indecisive and afraid. Only two episodes were good, 1. when that security lady fell in love with an alternate Kirk, and 2. the last one where they were overwhelmed by those dangerous aliens. The rest was meh.
Star Trek only has 3 worthwhile captains now.. the OG James T kirk, The Sisko and oddly enough that Archer lad. This may change in the near future tho.

To me the Disco-Burn Is and entirely alternative reality from Memory Alpha, even Ent deserved to be considered Canon in comparison. I had my hopes for LD but, thanks to the crossover, we can be sure that the standards have quite "lowered".

It is sad; I had the feeling he would be of the same politics as everyone in entertainment, but this is just unbearable to watch.
The network had no problems with Jeffrey Hunter, who played captain Pike. The problem was Hunter's wife, who was dead set on her husband being a movie star. She thought TV was beneath him. The producers even screened "the cage" for her to convince her to let her husband be on the show. One of his children said in an interview that he would probably have been happier if he had stayed with Star Trek. He never quite got A-list stardom, but does have some great credits.
The Networks DID have a problem with both Spock and "number 1" Rodenberry fought for both and was able to save Spock.
He probably would've lived longer as well. From what I've read, he died of a hemorrhage he suffered several months after an accident with a squib while he was filming in Spain, apparently causing him to fall down the stairs and fracture his skull. Obviously, that wouldn't have happened if he'd stuck with 'Star Trek.' Weird to consider what the show would've been like without Shatner and with Hunter. Maybe there's a parallel universe out there.
SNW is part of the rebooted Prime universe, not the original Star Trek universe, which is why Mount's Pike is nothing like the original.

SNW is in someways a revenge show. A certain segment of strokes Rick fans never for gave the original captain Pike for saying that he couldn’t get used to having women on the bridge. So now, other than spark and pike, there is nothing but women on the bridge. Even Mitchell has been retconned . into a woman. That is where they like to play around and have Pike wearing an apron and cooking for everyone constantly. Even the second season finale, which was clearly meant to be a riff on the best of both worlds, showed Pike being very cowardly and indecisive and afraid.
