The end of the Evangelion anime is a pretty good look at animators who are darn good at their jobs being forced to REALLY cut corners because they literally ran out of budget. If you know how to use these tools, they can really make something special.

I forget which issue, but in the comics Kirkman and Otley, are notorious for reusing the same comic panels for subtle things such as reaction shots so they could save time and not have to draw a similar panel over and over. In the comics mark went to a comic convention to get his copy of science dog signed (it’s SCIENCE dog in the comics) and he was asking the author about the art and the author was explaining some of the short cuts he uses in his comic( which kirkman and Otley use) such as reusing panels, meanwhile in the entire conversation is is drawn with 2 panels used over and over again. Basically whatever the author was explaining some of his methods, those methods were literally being used on them and their conversation in real life.
As someone who loves animation and has amateurish knowledge of how they animate certain things, i tend to forget that most people probably dont see the same little details i do when im watching a show
Japanese animation has been using similar techniques, and some anime still do, for decades. Thanks to good music and ambient sounds, these pauses in animation don't seem boring.
I hate how preachy this is. But the kinds of people who still watch passive media for entertainment aren't known for their attention spans so I guess they really do need it spelled out this painfully.
The bit was better in the comics though we still live in a world full of people who are ignorant about the process and try to justify their beliefs through comparing other shows.

This scene encapsulates the TV show as a whole - it lengthens some things at the expense of others, and it can do some different things than the comic did, adapting to fit and even showcase the strengths of the new medium.

These sort of shortcuts have been VERY obvious to me when watching content like Invincible. It's not the end of the world....... but I always wish it was done better when it does happen.
Eh. I think they went in on it too hard. It's like a comedian over-explaining a joke that everyone already understood. It compromises the tone for very low hanging fruit.
Well I think in this case there was a lot of explanation because they were also genuinely trying to be informative to viewers about the animation industry. Most people aren't super aware of how it works and I think it's cool to get a nice inside look.
They EQ'd Mark's dialogue while he was covering his mouth to make it sound more muffled... that is some GOOD attention to detail on the sound engineer's part!

The bit was better in the comics though we still live in a world full of people who are ignorant about the process and try to justify their beliefs through comparing other shows.
The fact that they’re literally doing the process of getting away with actually just animating nothing but easy ass drawings and still frames makes it ironic 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Trust me drawing these characters and backgrounds is not easy
This scene encapsulates the TV show as a whole - it lengthens some things at the expense of others, and it can do some different things than the comic did, adapting to fit and even showcase the strengths of the new medium.

Even in it's low moments, i never lose faith in this show and this awareness, this right here is why. They think at least 3 steps ahead and catch you in the exact reaction you're having watching the scene. When peoppe do 4th wall that well, RESPECT
These sort of shortcuts have been VERY obvious to me when watching content like Invincible. It's not the end of the world....... but I always wish it was done better when it does happen.
Eh. I think they went in on it too hard. It's like a comedian over-explaining a joke that everyone already understood. It compromises the tone for very low hanging fruit.
Yeah it's crazy how many people here seem to think that it's a subtle joke. It's incredibly on the nose, lazy, and a waste of half an episode.

Well I think in this case there was a lot of explanation because they were also genuinely trying to be informative to viewers about the animation industry. Most people aren't super aware of how it works and I think it's cool to get a nice inside look.

Young Justice has far better animation and direction than Invincible
They EQ'd Mark's dialogue while he was covering his mouth to make it sound more muffled... that is some GOOD attention to detail on the sound engineer's part!
This entire sequence was a stroke of genius
