I know I’m super late to this video! I love repurposing furniture and did one just like this for my husband. I turned it into a wine curio cabinet. I’m pretty sure this is an Atwater Kent Radio cabinet. That is what mine is except I have a metal plate where the number is on yours. I also have the AR maker’s mark. They are beautiful cabinets. ❤

to make it more functional ... my sugguestion was to make the front panel a door and install a glass on the front design (cut-out design) ...

Thanks Don! Making the front a door was actually my original idea but the way that it’s made there wasn’t a clear seam to separate the front from the body. I ended up keeping the one for myself. It’s next to my front door as an entry table!

Thank you Dilla! Usually I use a shellac based primer for my pieces. I’ll use the aerosol spray shellac if I plan on distressing and want the wood to show through. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to distress this one or not so I decided to use the shellac to leave my options open. Thanks for watching!
I have a cabinet like that and some of the cutout design is broken. Any idea on how you would rebuild that part if yours had been broken?
Hi Molly! Maybe creating a mold from some of the existing pieces? I haven’t personally tried using a mold before but I’ve seen others make repairs to trim and embellishments that are missing.
