I've got three questions for you my man! First is, when it comes to airbrushing leather shoes (Air Force in my case, want to do some parts brown and beige) do you recommend using sandpaper on the shoes as preparation, or is the Angelus preparer eneugh for preparation? The other question is do you always do two grey primer layers, no matter the place on the shoe and the color that goes on top? Last question is if you youse some additional products like two soft for those typical crease areas in the front or is the preparation and finishing enough to hold the paint on it? Would be so nice if someone here could help me, because I want to make some dope shoes. Thank you and keep your content awesome like that✌️❤️
Recently I started taking some curtain mesh and putting it over the paint bottle and then adding the squirt top to it. I also strain it again, but it does help alot though
great video!!! i am new to customizing and my biggest struggle is with cleaning up edges. what brush were you using on the Jordan 1 (blue white and yellow sun)?!? THANK YOU!!
Also how many coats of orange did you use to paint that shoe. Well in general how many coats should you use in general when airbrushing or painting by hand?
Yeah you can but …… you don’t want to end up in a situation where you end up doing 7-10 layers of paint cause you decided late and what not. Usually 6 is the way high end of how many coats you should have
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear awesome man. I’ve done 3 light coats so I’m hoping I can have it slightly lighter by 6 😆 fingers crossed! Haha thankyou so much for the reply honestly. Your work has helped me drastically!
@@DeJesusCustomFootwearFirst off all congratulations for your work and you explanations about this work.I need your help.I sell low cost non leather shoes like 20 $.I want to start customising shoes business. Will it work with this small quality shoes?! Why is it that you sand your sneakers? What is the purpose for it? Thank you for the tips, about to try custom painting sneakers after i finish my exams!
DeJesus Custom Footwear Thankyou, I Love your videos and customs.. thankyou for making Amazing Tutorial videos.. follow my page as well @innovativecustomz
Really truly depends what you’re doing.. if you were painting an entire shoe with only 2 colors you *most likely* would be fine with 1 oz of each color.. but again there’s a million factors that can impact what you’re trying to do
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear I enjoyed watching a video that you made painting a salmon and blue and my wife loves the salmon color so I wanna try to make it for her Birthday wish me luck
Hello my friend, I am from Venezuela and I am currently in the US I want to start painting shoes because you really inspire me and I have the ability to draw and paint, thank you very much for your good advice and patience to explain. I bought some shoes at Walmart for $ 15 to practice and soon I will buy the paintings when I have my first design I would love to send it to you. Yours sincerely, Franklin Marciales
I see that you used the heat gun inside so I’m assuming it’s safe ? Also I customized my first vans with copic marker and I just need to seal them with beeswax, would I need to add the nozzle that goes with the heat gun or can I just use it without?
Can't wait to try. I can tattoo an sketch just about anything. Learning airbrushing. It helps with trauma from combat. Thanks for the tips
I really like the light grey instead of white tip can’t wait to try it 🤔💯

Grabs notebook and pen because these tutorials and gems are priceless .
We appreciate you!
I am highly distracted with the MMPR funko but putting that aside, thank you for tips! I managed to custom my first pair after watching your videos!
Do you suggest using a leather dye, inter coat clear or primer on AF 1’s before painting?
Nope none are needed as long as you prep em correctly
Can you brush paint text or a logo using the vinyl cut stencils. If you do not have an airbrush???
Yes it’ll still work
Recently I started taking some curtain mesh and putting it over the paint bottle and then adding the squirt top to it. I also strain it again, but it does help alot though
I'm just starting out with customs. Your videos help me so much
Dude you're amazing thanks I'm just getting in to this and love you're videos
Glad you like them!
@4:19 what kind of brush is that?
its just a normal small paintbrush that has its bristles bent sideways
great video!!! i am new to customizing and my biggest struggle is with cleaning up edges. what brush were you using on the Jordan 1 (blue white and yellow sun)?!? THANK YOU!!
Angelus detail brush 🤘🏼
Thank u!
Thank u for the tips I’m just getting back to customizing shoes
What kind of brush are you using at 4:13?
Just an old frayed detailed brush lol
So excited to start this new journey! Thank you DeJesus!💙
For drying the paint, do you preffer dry it with heat gun or hair dryer?
Also how many coats of orange did you use to paint that shoe. Well in general how many coats should you use in general when airbrushing or painting by hand?
Where can I buy a sail colored reverse TS swoosh? Or at least a leather swatch sail colored?
at 1:15 what is the hand tool used called? and by which brand, seems like a polisher or hand sander but an interesting shape/size
If I have the angelus matte finisher do I need the angelus duller ?
Yes!
When you customize a shoe for your first time, should you use sandpaper and deglazer or just the deglazer?
Wich is the sanding machine that you use? great Video! :)
Ryobi Detail Sander
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear THANKS!!!! :)
Your videos are the only ones I THUMBS UP before even watching. Cause I already know 😝
So should I only use the duller for the final coat or every coat including the base?
I use it every coat, some say just the final coat though.
DeJesus Custom Footwear cheers bro. I appreciate you taking the time to reply so swiftly. This video was well put together. Thanks for the knowledge
Ik I’m late to this video but What’s the ratio between paint n duller?
When doing multiple coats, or in a fade, when do you introduce duller? Is it fine to wait until the last coat or should it be sooner? Thanks!
Just pick up some liquid licks matte finish, and then you won’t even need to use duller
Man this video is so essential that i may need to download it incase i forget tips.thanks very much🔥🔥🔥❤🙏
What’s the name of the green tool you are using for the prep
THE CHOSEN ONE 89 scotch Brite pad
at 4:00 what do you use to do the touch ups?
Hey man, say if I did a red but after 3 coats I think it’s too dark, can I just paint over another layer with a lighter shade of said red?
Yeah you can but …… you don’t want to end up in a situation where you end up doing 7-10 layers of paint cause you decided late and what not. Usually 6 is the way high end of how many coats you should have

With the tip about leaving time in between coats, will the heat gun help w that or is waiting still recommended?
Definitly still recommend waiting, heating will dry it faster but it needs to really cure to the surface

What is the edge brush you are using? I have never found a brush with the bristles angled off of the handle like that. That would be super useful!
Art Supply Warehouse sells them in their Watercoloring brush section. They are online, in Westminster, CA. They have 25% off sales at least once/yr.
Do you still use duller for the airbrush?
Nope just use liquid kicks matte finish at the end and no need for duller
Allow dry time…or use a blow dryer? I’m under the impression that’s what the blow dryer is for.
Still want to allow time for the paint to really cure
Than for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
Is there a special grey to use?
thank you so much. you have the best advise ever to be a pro.
Hi, advice for me, do the clients comes with the design they want ? Or you create a new design for them ?
Little bit of both! Gotta be ready for either
Is planning by printing a picture then doing designs on that ok?
