I am an organist and still taking lessons and now have been taking lessons every week from my 2nd instructor Blaine Gale for 43 and appreciate all the things that he has taught me. This is an amazing clip of the organ at the Conference Ctr and the SL tabernacle with the history behind pipes and also how it works all organists and music lovers should see this clip IT'S AWESOME and gets a thumbs up!
I got to sing in a choir in the tabernacle once as part of a multi-stake conference. (There were 3 Stakes when the meeting started and 5 Stakes by the end!) The organ was amazing! From the choir seats, you can totally tell what pipe each sound is coming from.
ForHow nice to see Robert Poll in this video. Many years we worked together on the standard LDS church organ we supplied all over the world. A very skilled curator of the organs in SLC.
I think the Conference Center instrument suffers from inferior acoustics compared to the Tabernacle. Of course, any room suffers from inferior acoustics compared to the Tabernacle.
An exact duplicate of that console that's either built by Allan or Rodgers Organs that have taken sampled acoustic sounds from the Mormon Tabernacle conference center pipe organ console with the exact same dimensions and specifications would look great in my living room ☺️
The organ looks like The Count’s Pipe Organ in “The Number of The Day” segments on Sesame Street. The pipe organ has 20 pipes and The Count plays on his organ to get to the number of the day. The odd number pipes have male voices and the even number pipes have female voices. If the number of the day is 0 then the organ disappears in a puff of smoke.
If the Great Tabernacle Organist (Alexander Schreiner) was the king, then the Great Conference Center Organist (Richard Elliott) is the Prince. Mr. Elliott! Please do not retire until the Lord wants you to. You will be sorely missed.
When I began listening to The Choir, Richard Evans was the narrator, and Frank Asper was one of the organists, along with Alexander Schreiner. Probably back in the 1950's and 1960's. Lots of memories.
One time I was sitting in the back on the balcony, the organ was playing. I didn't know about the pipes in the back, Suddenly they started playing, I was startled. I looked behind me and saw the pipes. TIL
What an honor for me to have played a concert there on this magnificent instrument it was indeed an unforgettable experience!
It's always amazing to watch videos like these,it's rather soothing and enhanced ones peace of mind.

Doug's happy smile is so telling...like the proverbial kid in the candy store
Wow!!!!!!!! Thank you to Doug Wright and Richard Elliot and this Ron Paul, is it? Sorry if I got your name wrong!? Fabulous tour!!!
It's just amazing and mind boggling.
you should check out a mechanical instrument. TALK ABOUT MIND BOGGLING!
I have always loved this organ. Still prefer it over the Conference Center organ.

@@bobareebop I believe the Conference organ also has fewer ranks, but the ranks it does have are likely scaled larger.
I always loved the organ!
This is unbelievable stuff I wish they would let members through on tours
Of coarse they do ,!!!
Where in the world did you get the idea that members can't go on...
That's absolutely ridiculous...!!
Amazing building!
I've played this organ twice in my life
Lucky you.
32 foot pipes are known as "expensive drafts" and are a joy to any organist's heart,

Take a look at the 12 days of Christmas with the count and Richard, it’s fun
Wow, I know Doug not well. But to see him play, wow.

I am racking my brain, what song is he playing at time 3:28?
"A mighty Fortress is our God" is the name of the hymn
@@Pfeifender Thanks
That mixing console!
I swear I could hear the choir singing when you were in the attic.
I LOVE THE STORY!!!

Great choice 18:01 -human ears are not digital, they are analog. Music demands analog. Hi-Fi analog.
Very interesting,,like sub marine 👍
