- What is the difference between THIS, THAT, THESE, and THOSE? How do you pronounce these words and use them correctly? In this ESL lesson, you'll learn the difference between these demonstratives. I'll show you examples of each of them in sentences with pictures to help you differentiate each word. I'll show you which demonstratives are singular and which are plural.
At the end of the lesson, we will have a practice session where you will fill-in-the-blanks with the correct demonstrative pronoun or adjective (this, that, these, or those).

Im gonna watch all of your videos!
Wow 👏 amazing thankyou madam.
Thank you for the video! It’s clear and easy to understand, but I am curious about something. How do we use this/that and these/those in a text? For example, I am writing about some instruments sociologists use in their analysis. Do I say “and these concepts” because I just mentioned them? Or “those”, since they’re just notions and not close to me?
Great question! I think "these" would be most appropriate since you just mentioned them.
Thanks so much
Nice 👍

Can IT and THEM function as demonstrative pronouns?
For example, couldn’t, “The new dresses are expensive. I can’t sell THESE,” be written as, “ The new dresses are expensive. I can’t sell THEM.” ?
Also, couldn’t, “Don’t touch the chocolate cupcake. THAT is mine,” be written as, “Don’t touch the chocolate cupcake. IT IS MINE.” ?
Absolutely. Both of your examples are also correct!
