Contact your state's Insurance Commission and file a complaint. That should at least solve the claim history part. When you do eventually replace the roof, get a metal one.
Ah I still haven't tried that! I did call the attorney general's office but they couldn't do anything. Yes, a metal roof would be great. Now I know I have 10 years to save up for one!
@@danielrvilla Pretty well there for total home destruction and nothing else. Wish they just call it catastrophe insurance and save all our time. They give catastrophe charge for total coverage and pocket the difference between the two.
I work for a roofing company and this is happening all the time. They are cancelling everyone outside of town because of fire danger, but everyone in town is getting all kind of demands made on them under the threat of policy cancellation, often with unrealistic deadlines for getting major work done.
Good question! I had to ask around a lot before I found anybody who had a similar story. Sounds like this might become more common and saw a headline about insurance companies using satellite images to see how your roof is doing.
uhm yeah replace the roof and have insurance pay for it. i see this is part 2 and im missing the backstory but the whole thing seems incomprehensible to me therefore the backstory won't really clear anything
Simply: they sent an inspector months ago who concluded my roof had "reached its life expectancy" and to replace it or get a five year roof certificate. They would never pay me back for replacing a roof. The roofer who did give me the certificate said he'd only seen insurance companies pay if a tree or branch fell on a roof. Basically I think they wanted me to prove my roof was ok so they would never have to fight a claim for leak damage in the future.
@@danielrvilla everybody here is filing damage claims and getting new roofs. are you in a market where they will drop coverage or something. like i dont understand what leverage ins thinks they have to demand any of this
@@johndonovan7018 Maybe their leverage was on me since I had asked if they could help cover my damage sewer line, which triggered a claim in their system even though they couldn't, and so they know I'm essentially stuck with them?

Sadly most insurance is a scam be it home, health, or life.
Yeah, forced to have it for home since I have a mortgage and imagine it would be a rare occasion they would pay anything out.

Haha feels like it sometimes! Frustrating to feel like I had no options.

Ugh that's awful especially if you have to have it for your mortgage. I guess I'm lucky that they gave me over a year to comply.
why is insurance looking at your roof anyway? Mine has never even seen my house not once

maddening!
Very frustrating! I even called to speak to another inspector and they said the first inspector's conclusion "was our opinion"
