"A man will make you love your bruises like passion marks if you let him" that was so true though. I love how this poem was setup, because older women will allow their bitterness to trickle down to their children. The sad thing is that in many cases, they truly are just trying to warn their daughters about the dangers of men. I was once the girl in the middle, but men are really working on making me the mother and grandmother. But I'm still remaining hopeful.
This is my life right now. A quick "I've got that poem stuck in my head, I'll listen to it just once" turned into 4 hours later watching this poem. I regret nothing.
I see this as being a memoir of stories about placing love on someone else and forgetting about love for yourself. the last line is, "when you fall. the only thing you'll cling to is love"
I can honestly say that I have heard this from my mother and aunt and stories from my Grandmother like this... Im like the girl in the middle and its sad the hurt they hold makes them bitter and angry then makes you feel like there is no hope but just got to believe it yourself!!
It's incredible to hear a piece of work which is so true to yourself and your past experience. My mother was never able to speak a good word about men. It lowered my expectations and made me fearful.Also Im pansexual haha...i guess she put me off men a bit
