this poem made me cry it is so true i wish that one day everyone here in Hawaii will be speaking Hawaiian not English and i hope that our nation will be restored and we will again be the strong people that we once were. i know that this will happen even if it takes years i will be fighting for it and i will never stop
Jamaica Osorio speaks on behalf of every ethnicity that have been ethnic cleansed, every nation that has lost their Kingdom, their language, spiritual learning, sustainability values with the land, freedom to make diplomatic relationships, to teach our children who we are and how to love each other. I'd like to see more of Jamaica Osorio like minded Hawaiian learn to build their massive platform for their place of voicing. I am an Ainu. Jamaica Osorio speaks my heart too.
Jamaica, Thanks for coming to Hilo on New Years 2010 to share with us your poetry. I was happy to have been there with Kumu Hula Maile Yamanaka. Yes, we are listening, Jamaica. The world is listening.
'ae - i like this entire script & public poetic delivery. i even dig this mana: "Listen to me! Existence persist as long as we have language. We cannot communicate with each other, we can not survive...we must see to it that our language survives in the past thru flowers...so our children can survive. The passing of language." dual language delivery? Of course. Aggressive preservation & perpetuation. cheeyah...thumbs up! I like. Mahalo Kalani Mondoy for sharing w/me thru fb. Aloha e. Mama Silk.
overcome with pride, tears now fall from my eyes watching this video. I'd like to thank the 4 of you for doing this exactly the way you did, Thank you...
@richardthewriter I saw an edited version of one on the HBO series 'Russell Simmons Presents Brave New Voice. It dealt with issues of suicide and friendship. Every piece I've seen from the Hawai'i team has been on point.

It's sad what happened to our Hawaiians and our language in court the other day. It may have been reversed but this shouldn't have happened in the first place, let alone be rescinded because "Hawaiians stood up across Hawai'i" so they reversed their warrant. Fucking hewa. E ola I nā kānaka maoli a me ku'u olelo o ku'u kula'iwi. He Hawai'i au mau a mau

they have to be together. that chemistry stands for something
Jamaica is gay, and an amazing poet. Their chemistry comes from the passion behind the trauma and hurt that our peoples history invokes in us.
