With the rescribing, how many times have you slipped out of a panel line and damaged the body? I find rescribing a little tricky. I'm using a Tamiya scribe different to yours (black retractable one) which grabs a fair bit. The model you use is easier? Great job by the way 👍😁
Practice comes a long way. Though a good tool saves you a lot of time aswell. Mine is much easier to handle then the one you have. But also 5x as expensive. I maybe slip once or twice
@@TheScalemodelingChannel Thanks Tom. Appreciate the super fast reply too! I've always found the scibe I've got a bit of a handful so probably time to upgrade. I'd also love to try Zero paints but alas there is no distributor in Australia and Hiro Hobby refuses to ship (flammable?). Matt from Gravity Colors USA ships to Aus though. Have you tried Gravity Colors paint ? Cheers mate. Love your channel. You've inspired me to have a crack at another car (an older Fujimi Nissan Silvia H.T.RS kit) and hope it turns out ok 😊
It also helpts if you just use the scribing blade without the big bulky handle on it. Gravity is great paint. Not sure if they are still operational though.
I did a Tamiya Jagermeister Porsche. You said you were going to apply decals, I'm assuming before any clear coat? On my Porsche I used Zero Jagermeister orange, I applied the decals before the clear. Which is Zero 2k clear that you use. Now with the decals on the colour coat they were as flat to the paint as they could be. "Great!" I thought, "now I'll clear coat them and they'll look painted on" But. After the clear was applied and dried the decals are showing as very slightly raised from the colour coat. Like they're stickers on the real car. Doesn't notice from a distance, only up very close. So I'm interested to see how this turns out. When I build model aircraft I Klear the matt paint to give it a shine so the decals don't silver, then apply a matt clear to cover them, and the decals look painted on. But the final look doesn't need to be perfect like it does on a car.
I have been building models for many years but I still have a hard time getting a perfect gloss paint job. If I wetsand and polish the paint it looks good however the finish around the window trim and other places where I can't wetsand and polish look a little orange peely.
I have tried numerous one part clears (including Gravity and ZERO paints clear) in my airbrush but never get a glass finish like you. I have tried numerous light coats and also numerous heavy coats (as heavy as possible without getting runs). I have been avoiding the 2k finishes and I am wondering how much difference you think this will make? Thanks
Mostlly because of the hassle of mixing the three liquids and I have heard they are quite toxic. I guess I will give it a try!!! Do you usually mix one batch and do your two coats or do you mix a batch, paint, mix a second batch and give a second coat? Do you mix it in the color cup of your airbrush or in a seperate container? How do you know how much to mix? I imagine it would be a problem if you run out while in the middle of painting?
you can basically just take 3 pieces of wood, nail them together to form a bottom with 2 sides. then just buy a simple window fan or a stove exhaust fan and put it on the back and put on any kind of furnace filter. that's basically it. or you can go on amazon and buy one already together. www.amazon.com/I-Airbrush-Portable-Lighting-Extension/dp/B075ZH91PM/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1535770537&sr=8-22&keywords=paint+booth+exhaust+fan this is just an example, you can look on amazon and maybe find a better one.
this car looks so good and the blue is beautiful!
I really like this car. It is looking awesome so far.
You using Zip-3001 primer do You now what the difference between that and zp-3033?
I don’t. Other than the other primer does not work for me
Can you use sandpaper to scrub off the moldlines?
Yes
Good morning, I've a quick question, what's your air-brush model ? It seems very ggod. Thanks in advance.
Hi Tom, I love your videos and hope to be as good as you one day
Another top video! Love the explanation as you go.

If you want it to be smooth, you would need to sand/polish those areas and or clear again.
And can u not paint the body instead painting the other parts?
You can do it how you see fit

Why have you been avoiding them? That will make all the difference in the world
