ABOUT THE WORK:
Though originally written for Choral Arts Northwest, this work has taken on a new life in light of the atrocities in Paris and Beirut. Jonathan Talberg, the conductor of the choir at Cal State Long Beach, led his singers in a performance during the memorial vigil for Nohemi Gonzalez, a Long Beach student who was killed in the Paris attacks. The day after the vigil, the choir was supposed to begin rehearsing holiday music; however, Jonathan felt that was not appropriate and wanted time for the singers to grieve this loss. So, at the beginning of rehearsal, he passed out a brand new piece of music (Let My Love Be Heard), rehearsed it, and then recorded it. It was posted on SoundCloud and shared in memory of Nohemi and as a plea for peace. Their musical offering is a powerful outpouring of grief but also a glimmer of light. I am honored that this piece, “Let My Love Be Heard,” has helped to provide hope in the darkness of our world.
TEXT:
A Prayer (by Alfred Noyes)
Angels, where you soar
Up to God’s own light,
Take my own lost bird
On your hearts tonight;
And as grief once more
Mounts to heaven and sings,
Let my love be heard
Whispering in your wings.

8 singers? Literally 8 singers and it sounds like a big choir. My favorite group
I can't stop from weeping when hearing this song...and especially sung by this choir. It's pure beauty.
I know what you mean.
@@johannes-martinbusch2637 And so do I.
Unbelievable! The live performance surpasses the perfection of their CD!
WOW!!! Absolutely stunning singing! Possibly the most perfect choir ever assembled - PERFECT intonation with every chord given absolutely clarity and required weight. This piece by Runestad is so beautiful. The slow swelling crescendo that begins around 2:50 and continues to build to a stunning climax to 3:45 is just unbelievable! Masterful singing and profound interpretation. BRAVO!!!!!
Thank you for this positive feedback!
I can't believe a group like this is JUST as good live as they are on CD. So excited to see them in Minnesota this year!
Yes you are absolutely right! Thanl you very much for this positive feedback 😊!
I was there. It was fantastic.
Thank God for giving us Voces8!
Music beyond the limitations of sound❤
I swear i listen to this pretty much everyday since I’ve seen them sing this in concert its so beautiful
the overtones are insane!!!
Der Himmel SO nah: WAHNSINN !! XX
Danke sehr !!
The Tenor is incredible, should be proud
Which one, the tall one (Blake Morgan) or the one next to him in grey (Sam Dressel, who has since left the group)? They are both out of this world imho.
There is light in the darkness and they’re called Voces8
Kate Spalding amen..🥺😢🙏🏽
Amen
Goodness me, its a live performance...Perfect!
Thank you for this positive feedback!
Vous êtes les meilleurs...toutes vos pièces sont à tomber...mes poils se tressent de plaisir quand je vous écoute. Bravissimo. Je vous adorent...
Thank you, utterly divine singing as always, perfect and profound. You continue to bring beauty into this world - bravo, bravo !!
This made me cry tears of joy 🥲
Pure beauty, i, 'm in tears
Listening to this again on Christmas Eve, 2021, a terrible year for the world and pretty dire personally - their crescendo is beyond ethereal and takes one beyond it all.
Incredibly beautiful voices. You create magic. Thank you
First time to listen to this piece sung by an ensemble. Bravo!
Thanks for this positive feedback!
My favorite Group. From Brazil!
LOVE, indeed, is heard. 💕
Incredibly beautiful. Thank you
Thanks VOCES8! Just what I needed.....
Awesome!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing your gift of music and joy!!!
amazing
I played this in concert band, and how they managed to put so much emotion into it and still keep it together astounds me. Without music, too! We had a heck of a time trying to get it in time, and that was with music and a director to watch. I am in awe.
Thank you voces8 ... this peace move me a lot, and you all sing it with pure bliss ... by the end of the song, I am all teary and overwhelmed with mixed emotions ... But thank you, you are making me a mess but i needed that ... 😊🙏🏻
Danke Chor Gesang for posting this too ... 😍❤️
just the best.
I don't know if anyone knows that this song is kinda meant to be a memorial for people because of a terrorist attack in France in November of 2015
I live in Minnesota, USA, not far from where Jake Runestad lives. I saw him wave at a recent Voces8 concert nearby but otherwise don't know him and have never met him. Yet for some strange human reaction, I feel a certain pride listening to this (and the music of Stephen Paulus, among other Minnesota composers) and seeing it performed internationally simply because we live in the same state!
You should be proud - with music of such sublime quality you are all very fortunate to have Jake Runstead live amongst you
@@ditrower8104 We are very fortunate to have quite a number of amazing choral composer live amongst us (and sadly Stephen Paulus no longer living amongst us).
Fantastic singing. Breathtaking.
great ... great - that I want to hear - absolut brilliant
For the LoveOfMyLife Dupi! 💞🙏🏻😇🌹

I like this piece, and I love it even more sung like this. Thank you for sharing
Da bleibt mir nur noch ehrfürchtiges Staunen!!!
Utterly gorgeous!

Quite the best. Superb.

The voices sound so smooth...
I feel sorry for the NEXT choir that has to get up and sing after a performance like that! ;-)
I'm in awe
WOW
Beautiful
This could not be better... sooooo nice.😊
STUNNING!!!!!!!
Sublime!
This is remarkable.
Such a nice rendition
So Beautiful!
Omg stunning performance!!!
Thank you.
❤️
I hate to make comparisons but the bass is the best singer in the group
Then don't make them
I was wondering what do you call those white panels behind them?
A shell. They are used to redirect sound and focus it toward the mics as sound waves bounce off the panels.
does anyone happen to know how many movements are in this piece?
Hi, Odette. I have the sheet music for this incredible piece. Surprisingly, it has only one movement.
That high A for the tenor is hard to hit, I’m still trying to free that part of my voice.
)
Making me a total mess ... everytime i hear this piece ... 😢
Too fast compared to original. Milk the emotions... Commemorative tribute to an alumna killed in a terrorist attack #respect
