I am debating getting it, having watched the videos as well, I would think that the joy of this will be getting to the point where you are so in tune with it you can do most procedures yourself. I've seen the approach video (#19?) as well which is well worth the watch and would love to try the long slow glide-slope approach letting it do itself. My next thing is how many textures they have as they say on the website. There are plenty I would love to recreate for this beauty.....
definitely - it's a heck of a handful and throws challenges at you now and again as you'll see in my next DC-6 video (my second ever flight in it) where I try to complete a full flight using VORs only. I'm really enjoying the challenge but trying to learn in bitesize chunks
Let us know if reducing your controls sensitivity improves the stability of the a/c on takeoff and landing? Pitch control/flight dynamics is not right; way too much attitude oscillation. Nice tour of the aircraft!
Hi! Yep I was a little too jerky with it all and will be tweaking my settings to get a nicer control input - certainly wasn't the fault of the aircraft 🤣
Out of curiosity, is it something wrong with your yoke or the airplane is so unstable. I noticed you being constantly up and down on your altitude between 1,000 Ft and 2,400 Ft, high ROD/ROC on VSI between 0 and +/- 2,000 Ft/Min. From what I see from this video the airplane bounces around like a C 172. Would you be so kind and elaborate please?
It's my controls and not being used to handling it more than anything - I tend to leave my first look videos Raw as a proper first experience. I'll be looking to learn and improve it in bitesize chunks :)

Always nice to hear from a pro with constructive feedback of course - great you're easily able to operate it correctly but we've all got to start somewhere... as I actually said in the video itself, PMDG recommended that we turn a lot of the realism settings off to begin with just to learn some of the systems which is what I was doing. Over time, again as I said, I'll look to turn them on as and when I learn each part of the aircraft (i.e. startup, takeoff etc).
I hope you do some streams with this!
I'm planning some using JoinFS!
if i select a flight plan on the world map will it load in the plane fmc??
There is no FMC it's all manual old school navigation and flying basically - enjoy!
I just upgraded my ram to 32G & wow the sim runs a lot smoother now with a solid 30FPS I forgot that had to be done
Oh definitely 32gb seems to be must for MSFS!
Does anyone know when it will come to the marketplace?
They've suggested around 4+ months time until it goes to the marketplace
pmdg.com/pmdg-dc-6-for-msfs/
@@BritishAvgeek thank u sir ;)
Out of curiosity, is it something wrong with your yoke or the airplane is so unstable. I noticed you being constantly up and down on your altitude between 1,000 Ft and 2,400 Ft, high ROD/ROC on VSI between 0 and +/- 2,000 Ft/Min. From what I see from this video the airplane bounces around like a C 172.
Would you be so kind and elaborate please?
It's my controls and not being used to handling it more than anything - I tend to leave my first look videos Raw as a proper first experience. I'll be looking to learn and improve it in bitesize chunks :)
@@BritishAvgeek I sought so, keep up the good work. Try this please flightsim.to/file/14925/input-viewer it will help with control adjustments.

anybody have problems with the operations center? i want to add liveries to my plane but when the operations center pulls up its just a blank blue page that says OC2 - server ping at the bottom

Glad you figured it out!

Do you know if it will be getting added to the in store marketplace? Try to only buy from there if possible, great video!
Thanks! They've said that it won't be on the marketplace for at least 4+ months. If you get it direct you get the PMDG Ops Centre too though which includes quite a lot of stunning retro liveries for it too! Really good, and currently on a launch sale too of $54.99 so very good
Crazy. That's a flying museum!! How many people did that plane kill?
There were quite a few crashes back in the day! Thankfully no crash on my first flight though I almost tail striked 😅 lots to learn!
Will be the DC6 at the marketplace?
Not for around 4+ months they've said. Best thing is to buy direct and you'll get the PMDG Ops Centre too containing a ton of stunning retro liveries
This thing is killing my FPS i'm only getting 12FPS in cockpit?
crikey that sounds odd! what system spec do you have? I've been getting 35 consistently (sim locked at 35) with my spec
Intel core TM i7-8700CPU @ 3.7Ghz 3696Mhz 6 cores
AMD Radeon RX5700XT
16gb ram
Any advise would be appreciated cheers
@@marktravis4697 hmm I'm not too speccy but I imagine your system isn't too far from mine but I have 32gb ram (which I've been told makes a huge difference to the sim overall)
what's the performance of it...?? It looks very slow
Personally I haven't any problems with performance at all. Currently have my sim locked at 35fps and it consistently achieves that which is awesome
@@BritishAvgeek No, I meant the speed of the plane not your computer. But, I found out its 258knots. Man that's slow.
@@Stan-ug9mx ahh aha yes it's quite slow - today I cruised at 210kts at FL120
I wish they would make the MD-11 again ;(
There will no doubt be someone trying to make it for MSFS at some point! Would be nice :)
Very cool and nice old aircraft....
Which programm do you use for the Replays?
Sure is! I was using the FlightRecorder from Flightsim.to
@@BritishAvgeek is it good for old pc with not much power? Have only 20-30 fps with middle settings
@@derstein98 the flight recorder is fine yes - it saves the state the aircraft is in for the replay so only some scripts :) not sure how it all works but I notice no performance drop using it at all
Also it's free so download it and try it and see if you like it.... If not, delete the mod :)
If you mean performance for the DC-6 I'm not sure what system you have but I haven't had any problems with performance :)
@@BritishAvgeek only ment for the FlightRecorder... thanks and i will test it
Looks fantastic! But I won't have the time to enjoy anything new until the depths of next winter (or the next pandemic).
Sounds like you've got really busy again!
It does look brilliant also the systems are highly detailed. How is the performance though ?
The performance is really good! There's certainly a massive amount to learn and learning the feel of the aircraft will be obviously important too - this was literally the first ever time spawning in and flying with it as you can tell. It's superb though!
@@BritishAvgeek It really is a wonderful piece of art. But then again it is PMDG
@@sithiradulanjithgalhenaged6974 sure is! This is my first ever PMDG Experience and I'm blown away with how fantastic it is... Makes me really excited for their 737 coming next to MSFS!
Round dials and round engines. It doesn't get any better.
it flies very well too in the hands of more competent people (not me then!)
Is it out already???
We're still waiting - monitor the link I put in the description and that's where it will appear :)
This will be my first PMDG, my two saitek throttle are not enough 😄

It's a free mod called ToolbarPushback on flightsim.to

ahaha no just my terrible handling of it for the first ever genuine flight (no practise!) my second video will be my second ever flight and I'm working on finishing editing that now so hoping to have it up tomorrow!
Hi, can you put the link for pre flight engineer? Where can I buy it from? Thanks
Great video by the way
it's included in the tablet when you purchase the aircraft from PMDG
FIRST! Just asked about this haha
You did indeed! I'm incredibly impressed with this, it was absolutely great to fly! Hoping it'll release imminently
It’s not cheap. But quality seldom is.
I think it's cheaper than people expected... Certainly cheaper than I expected too! Really impressed with the price point 🙂
its a very unstable aircraft to fly... is it really like that? or its just your setup...? tnx... great job PMDG... waiting for ur 737
Hi it's my setup more than anything else with my controls set a bit too sensitive. :)
I’m unable to interact with the tablet
sadly Sim Update 5 has broken most aircraft, from the CRJ to the DC-6 amongst others - we just have to sit back and wait for fixes!
It does look amazing, but ops wise it's a big Cessna. Why would you keep realism options at off? Where's the fun in that? It's very easy to operate it correctly.
The fun is in the learning of an airliner I've never had experience using ever in any sim... and I'm certainly enjoying it
@@BritishAvgeek Yea, we professionals tend to forget it's not that easy for new people. Enjoy learning process, it's a lot of fun.
@@Nikola16789 indeed, we all have to start somewhere 👍

oh man what a great product and i am hyped. But it costs probably 60-70 € and my computer will struggel. i also watched the toturials, only can recommend to watch them.
Performance for me was very very good. I have locked my sim to a max of 35fps and the entire time I flew it was 35fps constantly with no drops. And I totally agree, the PMDG Tutorials for the DC-6 are a definite Must Watch :)

Those textures look fine, but nothing more than the default aircraft. Nothing special here. I don't get it why every payware aircraft has to be praised on textures. Edit: Um, actually the textures look lower res than the default aircraft. Look at 3:15 and behind the ipad thing.
well some of the textures are like a fabric type material so I guess they have to balance that against performance or rendering really high quality fabric textures in as well. Personally I really like it - the textures I'm certainly happy with
I see that the South African flag on the DC6 is the wrong way round.
Oh wow great eyes I'd not seen that!

jesus christ, what a trainwreck of a takeoff.
🤣 it sure was - you haven't seen the near tail strike of a landing yet! Going to be learning it in bitesize chunks and you'll be pleased to know my takeoff has improved!
Awesome plane - Terribly over priced! 🤔
Well, compared to the same product for the older Sims this is really very good for $45.99 - you pay for what you get... Which is why PMDGs 737 etc is expensive on other Sims (hoping the price point will be lower again like this is for MSFS)
55 Dollars for a plane is a bit steep..
It is for some yes but you get a massive amount of detail and quality with it so it's certainly worth the price (the Aerosoft CRJ was priced at the same roughly too!)
I mean it's a great plane but 70 bucks is just waaayy too fucking much.
It's $54.99 currently - very good!
For a PMDG aircraft, the price $54.99 is an absolute bargain. Was expecting around $100 as per some of their other aircraft. Was very surprised to see how cheap they put this one out for. Worth every single penny though. At end of the day, you get what you pay for, and these aircraft from PMDG are a whole different league to the standard fair you get for flight sim.
@@cowboy10uk it's really good isn't it! I had my bets on the same price as the P3D version. It's stunning and at that price, as you say, a bargain!

ahaa yes! not my smoothest flight - working on my second ever flight video which I'm hoping to have uploaded tomorrow... hopefully you'll agree I did a LOT better than my genuine first ever attempt shown in this video!
Not pulling my wallet for that. Hopefully this isn't another xplane run in which they released this bird and nothing else. I'd have been more impressed with a MD-11.
They've got the 737 pack in progress along with their 777 and 747 too and they'll be absolutely fantastic
