It's exactly what ended up happening, Devil and God became their cult hit and the one that people remember them for nowadays, even if it didn't exactly "ignite the airwaves" back then. This interviewer knew his shit, I'm sorry I'm uninformed on who he is but I hope he's still doing good interviews nowadays.
Devil and God is my favorite album of theirs... It came out when I was in my early 20s and just had a break up with my gf of 4 years and the album really spoke to me. It will forever be nostalgic for me to listen to.
You know whats really sad? The way he was so happy about playing w his homies. That shit hit i was like fuck i feet shity for him. I feel like hes a good person moralistic. Nothing anyone can ever say about him could ever cut him up inside the way his own thoughts can. It doesn't matter to me because hes a person. Very gifted musically! Im guessing hes like me or alot of people who are aware of blowback on your loved ones. Guilt and innocence become irrelevant. You can never erase the damage done. The price hes paid is probably more than anyone of us will ever know. His wife firstly but very close second would be his parents n band mates. Those people who genuinely know and love him unconditionally. They will be asked questions that without a doubt incite an instinctually defensive reaction. They will then be judged by the public without the luxury of forethought or planning for a response they made based not on the actual question but on the feeling of how someone disrespected Jesse by asking such a question without real knowledge of the topic. He KNOWS the people he loves will be judged and treated differently because of something that people run there mouths about. Guilt/ innocence has no bearing anymore on the damage done. He will forever feel that sense of hurting his loved one. NOW his bandmates and Jesse himself have lost a giant piece of their hearts. Its sad knowing soon after this everyone close to them all had there lives changed for forever.
