  • I was shocked in Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca today by a price I found, which to me indicated a significant price hike year-on-year from 2022.
    Find out what it is.
    Knowing this will help you plan your holiday better and also know what you will need to budget for when you come to Puerto Pollensa on holiday.
    If you're splashing out for sunbed rentals in Puerto Pollensa, then I do recommend getting a waterproof bumbag or phone case cover which you can buy here. www.amazon.co....

    I'm going in 5 days time for the first time...mainly for cycling and staying at the Aparthotel Duva and Spa..probably do my sunbathing in the afternoon there by the pool and use the Eroski supermarket close by on the edge of town, this is likely a one off bucket list(Sa Calobra, Puig Major, Sa Battalla and of course Cap de Formentor) destination for me, usually go to Tenerife it's half the cost and guaranteed warm all year round!!!

      @barrycorney3665 What was the hotel like? We are thinking of booking at Duva this summer. Is it on a hill? Also, how long does it take to get to the beach?

    • @barriobarranco
      @barriobarranco 3 місяці тому

      @@kebabpower263 Hotel was excellent for my needs- Apartment clean, all good facilities etc. It's not on a hill, most of the area is flat around Puerto Pollensa. Never went to the beach as such apart from 2 days when I walked the length of the promenade/marina/pine walk etc (about 10km each day) but I'd say probably just under a mile to the port/main restaurant areas. You could check on google earth pretty easy. Walking into town from the Duva roundabout you are on a bike path essentially though until the next roundabout (about 600metres) where the town actually starts, just be aware of the cyclists and keep to the armco barriers so they can pass without issue. To get to the main beaches south of the port you can cut a shorter route from the Duva roundabout that is quiet residential streets and only 2/3 - 3/4 a mile max
      (I had a blast- 370km and 4,700m climbing on the bike in 5 days including Sa Calobra/Cap Formentor/Sa Batalla and Coll de Femenia...Weather was superb the whole week and the best holiday ever for me!!!)

    Its madness its like the Mallorcan councils do not want tourism 22 euros for an umbrella with no safe!, I have also heard some brits saying that the cost of just booking a holiday in mallorca is putting them off and they are looking for cheaper options on mainland Spain, It must be very worrying for local businesses, I know some people will say you are lucky to afford to go abroad, People work very hard and have to save to go abroad but having to fork out more money for stuff like this will just put people off.

      Also with the amount of people on the island, you'd think that they'd want to reduce cases of thefts. I'm not looking forward to hearing about victims of beach thefts when it could've been avoided so easily.

    We've visited 3 times this year and been very fortunate to do so. First time, there wasnt security lockers on the sun shades but they had been added to the shades around the area at the beginning of pine walk on our second visit. They cost a euro on top of the 22 for the beds. Must say i found that and the beer to be the biggest price rises. I stuck to wine (beautiful and very cheap at 2.50 to 4.50 euros) and short mixers as they are far larger servings. The food was generally the same as it has been for the last few years eg, we went to cellar la parra and had bread/olives, steak, a bottle of red wine and a gin and tonic. 2 deserts and that was around 75 euros for what was a perfect meal. You tend to pay a little more for the restaurants directly on the front but there's some gems to be found in the streets behind.
    I'd recommend cellar la parra, siurell at Llennaire, la Balada del agua del mar?? (First small restaurant at beginning of, pine walk), hibiscus, just off the main square, el posito (back streets behind the square)...bocchoris on the front near to Sis Pins......plus many more. All amazing food and very reasonably priced for the standard of food served. We've been visiting for 20 years now and havent experienced another place that lets us feel so safe and relaxed.

    Another really informative video Alex! Its doubly good watching your videos because not only do we get to see stunning scenery, but we also get lots of valuable information. Talking of valuable (S) I think I will be burying mine in the sand or more likely leaving them at the hotel and sitting on a beach towel with a sun hat as shade and lots of sun cream. Its too expensive to factor in the price of a brolly and sunbed every day!

    We have been visiting PP for 30 years and nothing
    shocks me regarding price increases in the port but we just Love the place I remember are first time in PP and we fell in Love with the place ,its changed a lot and there are some strange decisions that have been passed some of them seem very snoby and pety but they have kept it mostly as it all way's has been and that is a difficult thing to do so well done for that but when you are the dearest resort on the Island for Beach Brollies and beds then advertise yourselves as a family resort it becomes a bit of a oxymoron, I just think they need to be careful not to price themselves out of the race but in my opinion it's the best resort end of and we have booked ourselves in for two breaks this year and already booked for next year, special occasion that one , cant wait to get back ❤
