Here's the rest of the story: In 2016, William Cowart, 50, got into an argument with two union officials. All three were members of the UAW (United Auto Workers) and the two men he was arguing with, Aaron Straker and Jeff Bacon (one was 40 and the other 44, but sources didn't specify which), had just been re-elected union reps at the Chicago plant. Bacon, younger and bigger than Cowart, had been drinking when he sucker punched Cowart and sent him reeling to the ground. After Cowart got up they approached him again and he pulled out his gun and fired toward the ground, but hit them both in the leg. Since this incident happened in front of a UAW meeting hall, Cowart feared mob retaliation and fled. Cowart told the rest of the story in the video except for a few details.
Part of the reason for the delay in getting the judge to review the surveillance video is that the first judge was himself arrested on corruption charges (the judge was found not guilty). Cowart had to wait for a second judge to review the video, and he threw out the case. Cowart then filed a grievance against Ford, claiming unjust firing. He not only got his job back, but he got his seniority back with back pay. By the way, Cowart was a legal CCW holder at the time of the incident.

I can’t speak to his skin color adding to this but Chicago PD isn’t known for their great positive impact in the black community. The police dept CHOSE to make him out as a violent criminal and thus FORD was given a false accusation in which they WILL break ties with whomever for business reasons. The fact that they returned his pay tells me they were happy and willing to have him back, many companies would have left him without back pay and acted like he never worked for them.

This video had a good end result but why would USCCA tell the client the USCCA attorney is "pricy"? Amazing that this guy was charged with all those Union bros there. I think it's a shame that unions don't stand up for the workers - they simply allow cronyism to persist to the working man and then suppress freedom of speech. This is precisely why Union membership is down and remains down throughout the country. At no point in time should any employee feel the need to carry, let alone discharge a weapon at a workplace, or associated venue. To me, that's the greatest crime. CEO pay has run away, and the middle class are stuck. If unions actually did what they're supposed to do as opposed to elevate thugs to leadership positions, then we'd be better off (reference UAW corruption and Rico charges just a couple of years back). Amazingly, just like Hunter Biden's laptop; news coverage and these charges disappear. Thank God for organizations such as the USCCA.

Y'all should do more stories like this, build the culture and get it out there. So people can start looking at gun owners as human again.

We as law-abiding citizens must vote for 2A Politicians who will change self defense laws in our favor at all times. If you are attacked punched in face the attacker coming again and you defend yourself how in the world a prosecutor was allowed to bring case like if he or she looked at the video evidence? I tell all law-abiding citizens we must get together and call on our elected officials to remove these corrupt people from our justice system these people or evil, wicked and must classified in the same section as murderers. How can live with yourself knowing that this is a justified act of self defense and try to send this man to prison?

Heart-wrenching story for this man and his family! Our legal system is attacking, pursuing and crippling law abiding citizens all while allowing lifelong criminals to remain on our streets to continue preying on the weak and innocent! It’s disgusting what’s going on and thankfully there are recourses available to help legally armed citizens fight for their lives against the legal system and the government!

This is why I never want to have to use my firearm. I have no qualms about taking the life of someone trying to deal great bodily harm to me. I do not however want to be handcuffed and thrown in jail and have bail set and go through the courtroom and be treated like a criminal for defending myself.

And here I thought when a person joined USCCA and got into a situation where you need legal help they are nothing more then a referral service for a criminal lawyer and how much do you charge for that service but when I need that lawyer I have to pay more for him or her.
So again why am I paying you?

This video shows how you can be in the right but still be punished by the process. How brotherly of the Bentley driving lawyer to take $70k from the REAL victim saving his own life and losing his livelihood.

This man is not innocent y’all painting a totally different picture as soon as he said “I’m a care free guy I Voice my opinion on things” I knew he was the problem and he keeps referring to the conversation is just words another key that he was saying some extremely offensive and disrespectful things because any true innocent person would have stated what they said to have got a reaction like that out of somebody especially if they truly feel like they didn’t say anything wrong

  • @rjmprod

The only person who should have been charged with anything close to murder, is the prosecutor who tried destroying the life of an innocent man. They allow people they have permit to defend themselves, but then they turn around and charge the person when they do defend themselves against a real attack.
And what the hell is with all of the additional attempted murder charges? What did they do, charge him for attempting to murder all of the bystanders? If these prosecutors ever find themselves having to defend themselves, I hope they have to face the same trouble that they subjected this guy to.

The one things that this story doesn’t have, is asking billy what did he learn from this experience and what would he have done differently in the moment he was in that heated argument with the subject. People learn how to be 10 times smarter than your emotions and try at all cost to de-escalate a situation before it gets to this point, especially if you have a weapon. Billy, trust me the only thing that saved you was that video of the incident. Situation like this are one of the many reasons why our gun rights are in jeopardy. If anyone is offended by this message, pull away from cognitive biases and try seeing this from a different prospective.

I'm also hoping his union brothers helped pay his expenses at least.

What we must overstand and not overlook is What his lawyer said . If you want the best then you have to PAY for the best. Fortunately for him he was able to get a great lawyer but trust me when I say had he had a public defender or even a cheap bs lawyer it def could've turned out different. The system supposed to be fair and just as well as equal but it's NOT. If you don't have the capital for the right attorney it could be really difficult and it's not fair for the poor or not so well off ppl who have no money for an attorney

In Harlow v. Fitzgerald, 457 U.S. 800, the US Supreme Court basically gave government officials qualified immunity. However, qualified immunity isn't in the constitution nor is it federal law and has never been signed into law since its introduction in 1871 after Congress established 42 U.S.C 1983 and 18 U.S.C 242. Roe V. Wade was overturned because abortion isn't in the constitution nor is federal law thus making it unconstitutional and by extension, Harlow v. Fitzgerald is unconstitutional.
