After about three years the channel is now well over 18,000 subscribers!
For the handful of patreon supporters the subject of the big project we've been working on for so long will be revelaed soon. A teaser trailer will also be up at some point.

I remembered this episode. Bloody Gulch. Great episode and good stuff on explaining the American regiment movement in and around Carentan and the German counterattack. Overall good stuff. 👍

Those poor glider troops, get less pay than paratroopers but have to do the same job as paras.

And i would rather jump from a plane with a parashoot than trusting my pilot to land his plane made from plankwood and sheet metal in a place where it wont shatter the moment it touches the ground

    Nice video!
One thing I would like is for German units to be represented by smaller tactical icons, even if they are approximate. In this video the icon for the 6th Parachute Regiment was just sitting southeast of Carentan - doesn't give a great impression of where the German positions were. Know that kind of tactical info isn't readily available, but just squares or lines approximating German positions would help visualize

I agree 100% with you. The problem is that for small battles such as this one it is difficult to find precise information for everything. My sources offer precise positions of American units but little to nothing for the german side.

Question. Why do you give the 327th glider regiment it’s regimental patch and not the patch of the 101st?

    • @ww2-epicbattles
      @ww2-epicbattles  2 місяці тому

A good question. It's basically because of the regiment's interesting history. The 101st was newly formed airborne division, but the 327th was formed in 1917. It was part of the 82nd when the latter was converted into an airborne division and was then transferred to the 101st. The 327th was also reinforced by a battalion of the 401st. Visually speaking I only wanted to make it easier to distinguish the glider infantry from the rest.

Could you do the Battle of Caen?

Of course. If I'll see more interest in the Normandy front I could cover the British and Canadian battles next. But my big project has priority.

''an impressive renactment of the brutality of this counterattack was depicted in the HBO series!Band of Brothers''
No it wasn't. It was cartoonishly ridiculous.

Ι work in mainstream TV and film and I even worked together with the VFX Supervisor of Band of Brothers. I am fully aware of how difficult it is to film a sequence like that and the result is fantastic.

@@ww2-epicbattles the issue is the dramatisation, not any technical fault or inability to capture something... I just can't abide calling any such battle scene an impressive reanactment because it bares no semblance to actual combat; the ranges, the process, the organisation, etc... actors just sitting, lying or walking out in full view in front of each other at a hundred or couple of hundred meters to be killed...
to be fair you didn't call it accurate, you simply called it a reenactment of brutality.

@@ww2-epicbattles for the record the visual effects in Band of Brothers were excellent and about as realistic as it gets. so well done.
don't take my criticism to heart, it's an annoyance at all directors' choices to never depict battle realistically, not the overall quality of the scenes

The scenes don't depict battle; they depict a theatrical parody of battle.
