I can't seem to load the link for the auger file. Would it be possible to get it's name so I can look it up myself?
Thank you
Not only does one learn a lot from your videos, but the puns drill into the subject matter in a hole new way.
😂 I see what you did their you sly lil devil you
@@VoidMySoul 😁
I’m retired carpenter, years ago (late seventies) a coworker was off for a week and I had to use his lock installation kit, a jig that clamps around door and has the edge bore and cross bore lined up. All ya had to do was drill through with the spur bits. First time I nearly had to push hard as I could, looked at bits very dull. Sharpened them up and through like butter. He came back and thanked me for getting new bits from boss!! Told him they aren’t new just sharpened.
As an electrician I use those bits alot. Honestly I couldn't figure out why so many other electricians couldn't figure out how to sharpen the bits.
Dovetailing files have safe edges when made right also.
So if you want to be boring, you need to get sharp first.
Oh my gosh the puns, the incredible clarity, the RARE lack of redundancy - I'm IN! I found a Channel!
Thank you so much this really helped me out 😊
Nice dude! Thanks for the helpful info. I don’t have any auger bits nor intend too but this will definitely help if I do!
that was actually useful! thank you! im sure this is old knowledge.
Most files only cut in a forward/push motion, you will load your file with chips going back and forth and damage it long term.
that is a common myth, but has been proven wrong time and time again.
@@WoodByWrightHowTo And there's even a tool for cleaning your files too. File card brushes are amazing, makes them work like new.
I have a small triangle file and a small round file and they work like Champs
I see your point.
Bill burr of woodworking!
Love the bad puns!!!!
You can also get a "spinner" in the hole when a layer of the wood breaks off and keeps spinning with the bit
Came for the solutions, stayed for the puns 🎉
Wel said, thanks for sharing that!
Perfect!
How do you sharpen forstner bits?
For most of them you don't. Those some have sharpenable teeth. Generally, if tool is designed to be driven by a power tool, then it requires specialty equipment to sharpen.
There are several different brands and configurations for Forstner bits. For the toothed Forstners I sharpen the teeth like I would a rip saw blade. I sharpen the radial edge with a file similar to how he explains to sharpen a wood auger.
I tend to have older bits so recovering a butchered bit is a bit more involved than sharpening a bit that has been well taken care of.
Thanks woodworking Bill burr
Is that the only reason they made certain files like that? I noticed, but never gave it enough thought.
In general, yes. That particular shape of file is known as an auger file.
Big drill what size is it?
That auger is 1.5"
I always use them until they try and break your arm instead of cutting then get a new one.
Yes square peg round 🕳
I feel like drill sharpening should be a UA-cam shorts 😂 need a full 10 min video cos it’s hard to do
If you file the outside you'll me the cutting edge diameter smaller than the rest of the bit
bingo.
That’s the whole truth 😂
Your voice sounds (to me) like a mix of George Lucas and Ilyah from That Works
You look so much like Bill burr
First you run the auger at ridiculously high speeds with enough amounts pressure to get it hot enough for the metal to lose temper. Then get creative with an angle grinder. Wash rinse repeat until the Boss shows up with a new one. Or do the opposite of all that - follow this video and the boss will never buy new ones…
You look like Bill burr
Are you sure this just isn’t a 2 bit video
idk where to even buy an auger bit, they dont exist in canada
Check out www.handtoolfinder.com
Bill burr
try waxing that auger point less wood wil clog it up.
If it clogs it means the blades are not sharp.
I totally thought he said hooker bit
The hole truth.. lol
You sharpen them by buying a new one.
